If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. We stopped by yesterday, while walking on Broadway. We ended up buying their lentil wraps, zucchini muffin & a scone(believe it was sweet potato). We split the scone, while walking around town & it was yummy. But not too sweet, which is my preference. When we got home, we tried a bit of the lentil wrap & wow, what flavor. Then this morning, we had the zucchini muffins. By far, the best muffin, of any kind, I have ever had! They were so full of flavor & incredibly moist. We will most definitely be back. Thank you, so much, for making such wonderful & healthy products!

Mixed mushroom and kale turnover for $ 6, cash only. I was surprised this tasted so good. It was cold so I figured I wouldn’t have enjoyed it but it was so flavorful! It was jam packed with the best type of mushrooms and the ratio of kale was perfect. If it was warm, I think it would have been 10x better. I’m so glad I took the risk to try it. He also sells a bunch of vegan baked goods that sounded mouthwatering.

I LOVE their vegan and gluten free apple pies. Even my non-vegan and non-GF friends love them. :) I am a regular customer!

The chocolate chocolate chip muffin is outstanding. It’s fortunate tor me that I have to go out of my way to get to the Greenmarket; I’d be scarfing one of these down every day. The savory pockets are a mixed bag. The curry chickpea pocket is delicious; both the kale mushroom and white bean pockets could use more flavor. The French lentil roll is yummy too.

The worst baked good I’ve ever tasted! I purchased a raspberry mint tea bread at the Farmer’s Market yesterday. I’ve eaten many gluten free goods before, none of which tasted like this. It was soggy, did not taste of raspberry or mint, and was just plain awful. I’m not sure if that was just a bad batch or if that recipe is always so bad. I don’t live in NY so I can’t return it, but I would if I could.

These healthy baked goods actually taste good. I love the zucchini spelt muffin(not too sweet, moist) and the curry chickpea turnover(like a non-fried samosa). The sweet potato cinnamon roll is another delicious treat. Some of the gluten-free muffins are a little grainy like gluten-free stuff tends to be.

I was really excited to try this place and opted for a carrot and zucchini scone and the broccoli rabe, tomato, and eggplant farinata. I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed. The scone had a *ton* of rosemary in it, so much so that I could barely eat it. It ruined the texture, but also the flavor– you really don’t need a lot of rosemary in something to get the flavor. Texture was very crumbly and hard to eat as well. Like another reviewer, I also found the farinata greasy, too dense, and difficult to eat. The flavor was pretty good though, so I’m hoping that if I toast it for awhile, it’ll dry up a bit. All in all, it was very pricey for a really disappointing meal.

Delicious and healthy bean wraps and veggie empanadas. The whole-wheat wrapping is chewy and hearty, but not too heavy. The fillings are richly flavorful. A good buy, and you feel good after eating one: they’re filled with whole grains and fresh vegetables.

Their root veggie faranata, yes look it up peops, is crazy delicious. Nicely spiced, it is everything and more than all your eat healthy, what it might be like to be vegan thoughts, i care about food and my body and delicious mouthwatering food all in one easy to eat food item. It is great slightly heated up in the wave. They make their faranata on the thicker cake like side which is the side I wanna be on. The winning side and not sitting out on the sideline. I love that dude, he is a super hard worker since Ive seen him out and the last stand on the snowiest windiest of nyc polar vortex days. Half off ltr in the day makes the goods even better and he will sometimes give you stuff as well. Their faranata makes me drool… unladylike but I dont care cuz its just that ahhhmazing!

I have visited this little stand at several of the greenmarkets in NYC. I have yet to try their savory treats, but I can say the desserts are incredible. I usually get a Sunflower chocolate cookie and whatever fruit tart that have that day. Their muffins are always intriguing and delicious. My favorite was an Earl Grey poppyseed they had once. The people running the stand are consistently attractive so, if nothing else, go for the eye candy. HIGHLIGHTS: Organic! Allergy sensitive. Delicious. BUZZKILLS: Prices are a little steep.

Ridonkulous food! I finally decided to get outside today and discovered Body and Soul at Bowling Green. They were near the steps leading down to the metro and I almost dismissed their small single man tent until I saw the words«Gluten-free, Vegan.» Then I noticed their colorful food products carefully labeled noting their ingredients and base flours. It took me a while to decide but I ended with the curry vegetable and chickpea turnover. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly dense it was, so I bit it. Then I noticed how great the shell was, giving way, but not crumbling. A perfect meal to eat on the run. I’m not sure if one could substantially tide me over for lunch, but two might. Overall, a great buy!

Every Tuesday and Thursday I catch them at the Brooklyn Courthouse area. The lentil wrap is excellent. The baked goods are good too!

When a craving hits for chocolate chip cookies on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday, I will always make my way here in Union Square. For $ 2.75, it’s not expensive, but just pricey enough that I wouldn’t get it everyday(which is terrific news for my waistline) They use Earth Balance egg substitute for the cookies, which is a brand I trust to be non-GMO and won’t have tons of preservatives. The best part is that the cookies is big enough to satisfy a craving now, and still have half to save for later! I have also tried their mushroom and kale turnovers which are yummy eaten cold, but even better after a light grilling or heated briefly in the microwave. I love that the ingredients for everything they sell are listed on a card, and are simple and minimalistic enough that I don’t feel bad eating anything on the menu.

You know those muffins Grandma made with vegetables and told you they were gonna be good just try it and you did and it was disgusting and turned you off of vegetable pastries for years because why is there a damn vegetable in my dessert anyway??? Well, for whatever reason, I tried a zucchini muffin from this place: this is not Grandma’s muffin! Moist and sweet, speckled with plump raisins and a crunchy oat topping! It was incredible. Not stopping there, I also tried the oatmeal cookie, which was soft and exactly how I love my oatmeal cookies. I got some of the cookies and gave them to my carnivorous friends, who devoured them in seconds never having know they ate something vegan, because they’ve repeatedly told me that they don’t like vegan food because it’s so bland and boring. Their savory turnovers are also great, the rice and black bean one is my favorite. It’s flavorful and has just the right amount of «kick» to it. If you’re vegan, vegetarian, or just like good food, check out the Body and Soul stand in Union Square. Just don’t let Grandma know you now like vegetable muffins.

I’m a big fan of Body and Soul. I try to visit their stand at Bowling Green every Thursday. I have never had anything bad from here. Everything is tasty and fresh. I also like that their goods are vegan. They prove you don’t need eggs and/or milk to produce a yummy baked good. If you’re looking for something less on the sweet side, go for one of their turnovers. My favorite is the chickpea curry turnover. Everything is also reasonably priced. So yummy.

Chewy Chocolate Sunflower Cookie. Oh, lordy. SOOOO good. Fantasticly rich chocolate flavor with a wonderfully balanced crunchy/chewy texture. The perfect afternoon snack. Decadent but light. At $ 2.75, this is definitely a treat I want to make a regular occurrence when in Union Square.

Body and Soul has been working on keeping their kitchen super clean and just revamped the gluten free recipe for the customers. It’s a business that is working on improving and changing with the times. The kitchen staff works to ensure that the food is safe as well. The current recipes are unique and tasty. There are sugar free options too, which is amazing.

Interesting stand that caught my eye as multiple people were waiting to make a purchase. A glance through their Unilocal reviews and I was convinced to give ‘em a try. After going over all the options available, I went with the Zucchini Muffin. It was surprisingly moist, but in terms of taste, I’ve tasted better bran muffins. I do agree that it’s a good guilt-free option in terms of calorie-intake. I didn’t feel the slump I usually fall into after eating something heavy. Guy behind the stand definitely was not that friendly to me. No smiles, just asked me to order and gruffly answered questions I had.

I love the days when I realize it’s a Farmer’s Market Day and I have enough dollars in my pocket to grab a muffin(or a cookie if I’ve been good) from Body & Soul. I generally stick to the gluten-free options(all items are vegan, but they are not all gluten-free; the ingredients are posted on the little cards for people who are schizophrenically maniacal about those things, like me) — the carrot raisin, the almond chocolate, and the blueberry sage are particularly great(flavors range depending on season), but everything is pretty much amazing across the board. And it’s good for you! I think. You know how sometimes you eat something vegan, and you’re like this is stupid good!!! It tastes like butter and milk and pure crack cocaine! And then you see the ingredients and realize it’s been made with the highly processed tears of Daiya cheese babies(that stuff is whack, by the way) and just all the coconut oil in the world? I hate that. Thankfully, the items at Body & Soul don’t fall into that category. They’re delicious and not too sweet, but they actually taste like they’re healthy, which I like, and they taste like fruits and vegetables. I like my fruits and vegetables, gosh darnit!(Okay, the muffins can sometimes be a little crumbly, but I just chalk it up to the fact that they aren’t using some type of weird glutinous additive). The stand is definitely there Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, though I don’t know about weekends because I avoid Union Square like the plague on weekends(you should too, it’s freaking nuts). Prices are around $ 3-$ 6, which I think is reasonable, particularly for Union Square, and particularly for the quality. Also, after around 4 or so, it’s buy one get one free — if there is anything left!
