Really poor return policy. Would not even exchange anything after 14 days – and it was not an inexpensive gift.

Excellent quality cuts, love their knits. I am so impressed their window display, every time I walk by I have to stop at admire how beautifully crafted the outfits are. Original and classy for sure. Love their end of the season sales. Chic styles for everyday.

I had to amend my last review and decrease the number of stars after my last visit today. The past two visits, I noticed that there was a turnover in staff at the East 81^st Street location, and I notice that it is now with somewhat of a feeling of dread that I anticipate a next visit. Francesca and Annie are awesome. They deserve the 5 stars, as well as another small, petite girl with short, short hair who is always seriously awesome. Lately, there is a tall, blonde drudge who is such a dreary, unfriendly presence as well as a taller, thin dark-​haired girl who seems officious and selective about who she greets. I loved the service at this store because of its very un-​UES way of greeting customers, but lately, the choice in hiring (or transfer, whatever the case may be) has been sub par, in my opinion.
I still love their clothes and bought two amazing items today for 50% off, but I would now consider perhaps making the effort to visit either the UWS or the Bloomies or Soho location to get the friendly service that I am so used to at Comptoir.

My favorite store on the UWS! The prices are higher than what I would normally spend on clothes, but I have made some amazing finds here during sales, and I have also occasionally splurged on a full-​price item that has been worth every penny in the long run. It’s a great place to shop for wool coats, silk blouses, cardigans, blazers, shirt dresses… beautifully made investment pieces that will last you for many seasons. Basics here are never boring, and the look is relaxed yet sophisticated — the epitome of French chic. The sales staff are incredibly helpful and really kind; they are great at styling looks and showing you how to create a myriad of different outfits out of just a few simple pieces. When you walk out of the store with 2 new pieces, you will probably have ideas for 10 different ways to wear them. Living in a small apartment with limited closet space, I really appreciate the versatility and quality of these clothes.

The ladies here are super friendly and funny! Bought a jacket that was more expensive than perhaps it should’ve been, but I love it. :)

Hope they will have a t least one boutique in Los Angeles, CA.

I discovered this store randomly on a visit to Paris last winter, where I picked up some brilliantly constructed simple shirts that instantly became my favorite wardrobe staples. So I was thrilled to see that Comptoir des Cotonniers also has stores right here in NYC. This brand makes such beautiful clothing — simultaneously funky and classic, with excellent cuts and fabrics. Cheap it isn’t, but these are investment pieces. Yesterday I had a wonderful experience in the UWS branch, where pretty much the entire store was on sale. I walked out with a garment I was surprised to find myself purchasing — a so-​called romper, like a dress made with shorts instead of a skirt. I bought it only after an extraordinary saleswoman named Eun (or maybe Yun?) appointed herself my personal shopper — it was near closing time and the place was otherwise empty — showing me various combinations of accessories and layering pieces that would turn this unusual garment into outfits suitable for either casual or professional wear. At first I thought she was trying to convince me to purchase a bunch of other stuff from the store as well, but then I realized that what she was doing was teaching me how to go into my own closet and find the pieces that would work with the item I was considering, to dress it either up or down. It was a mini fashion lesson. For instance, she taught me the function of a long skinny necklace (it dramatically changes the look of a bodice by adding a vertical axis to draw the eye down, adding instant polish to an outfit). I didn’t buy the $ 200 necklace she was showing me ($ 100 on sale, and no pressure from her to buy it); but I did buy a $ 15 knockoff elsewhere that looks completely great with any of the three new outfits I was able to build around the one excellent garment she did sell me. I love my new romper, and I love Comptoir des Cotonniers.

The Upper West Side is getting better and better everyday. With Comptoir des Cotonniers opening right next door to Rag & Bone, I am bound to be as fashionable as ever, but also will need to learn restraint!
Comptoir des Cotonniers is a great french brand that is simple and modern. Not over-​styled or trendy, but always fresh looking and stylish. Whatever you need, a great cardigan, sweater, blouse, skirt, or dress, you can find it at Comptoir des Cotonniers and it will last you for years and will always be «in– season».
Service here is great and the store has a decent selection without having to go to Soho location.
