Fast Track Driving School

My husband and I took the 5 hour pre-​licensing course and it was bizarre from start to finish. Much of the course were spent on role-​playing weird scenarios that had nothing whatsoever to do with driving (such as begging on the subway, someone getting maggots in their food at a restaurant, a dentist getting fired for watching porn, I kid you not. You couldn’t make this stuff up). The instructor also had a weird obsession with underage sex (went around the room asking foreigners what the age of consent was in their country). I could go on but I’ve blocked most of it out of my memory as it was honestly one of the most bizarre experiences of my life.

Fast Track is AMAZING. I haven’t driven in years b/​c I’ve lived in Manhattan for 15+ years, and needed a new license before moving to California next week. I had almost no time before my move and hadn’t driven in forever, but Mae, Janet and my WONDERFUL instructor Ty moved heaven and earth to help me. They were incredibly nice, always on time, patient and insanely helpful, and made miraculous things happen with the DMV. I can’t thank Fast Track enough for how amazing they were.

This place is the worse. They are very rude and dishonest. They stole 300 dollars from me saying that I could not cancel a driving test appointment when in fact, I never confirmed the appointment and I canceled it. This woman Mae and all the staff I talked to are very unprofessional. They are good at screaming in the phone, that is mainly the only thing. A place like this should be closed down!

This school is good. Most schools downtown make you wait 6 weeks to schedule the road test. This school schedules it for you in 1 – 4 weeks. The receptionists are really nice. I had Lemont for a driving lesson he wasn’t bad. He taught me things my other driving school failed to teach. He gave me two lessons how to drive, and how to spot the assholes (bad drivers). May took me for my road test and test and a lesson. She is an amazing person and taught the last pieces I missed. In the end I passed my road test no problem thanks to fast track.

Fast Track Driving School was able to provide me the knowledge and skills necessay in order for me to pass my road test. The school not only has excellect service, but also wonderful instructors that gave their 100% to help me through every step of the way. I would definitely recommend Fast Track to everyone.

Don’t go here. The 5-​hour class was fine but my teacher Lemont was useless and instead of teaching me to accurately and effectively pass the test, he was just too busy hitting on me the whole time. I wasted over $ 300 here with nothing to show for it.
A few weeks later I purchased a one-​hour lesson followed by a test from Beep Beep Auto School and the instructor Michael was so unbelievably good, I passed my test losing only 4 pts in total.
Choose anywhere else but here unless you want to lose money and waste time.

I took a chance on this Google search result, and it was one of the single worst NY experiences I have ever had. The instructor was wildly unprofessional, incredibly stubborn, and actually locked me out of class because I had to step out to get cash – thus making me 10 minutes for a class that hadn’t even started yet.
This individually was clearly looking for a fight – even as I tried to concede the argument. I guess you still get what you pay for! Probably wouldn’t recommend even though it’s literally the cheapest class out there. You get what you pay for, beware!

Absolutely appalling driving school! I strongly discourage you from choosing this driving school. The condition of the car for my lesson was so bad that I almost didn’t get in the car. The car was at least 15 years old. It was basically falling apart — I questioned whether it was roadworthy. The driving instructor said, «yeah I’d complain to — it’s not my car». Unfortunately I was under a tight timeframe to have a lesson and take the test so I got into the car. The driving instructor was so unprofessional and rude in the manner he spoke to me and gave me instructions. I just felt like bursting into tears. Further, because of their location we spent half an hour in traffic just trying to get to a more quiet area to take the lesson. Trust me, give this driving school a miss! I then went to Manhattan Driving School (also known as Yonkers Driving School) and had the most amazing experience. It was a brand new car and the instructor was very professional.

Lamont does not respect the fact that the people he is «teaching» expect to walk away with a license and will spend the vast majority of his time in the car with you describing what he wants to do with women he sees walking by. He is incredibly immature and perverted and not a good driving instructor. Additionally, the cars that are used to teach the students are in awful shape and are incredibly outdated. This driving school is an absolute mess.

Unprofessional, tardy and rude. Their cars vary from old to older — one had bits hanging off the steering wheel. I worked with Edward and Luke. Luke was nice, but on his cellphone the whole time. Edward was rude, unaccomodating and raised his voice to me when he stood for 15 minutes trying to get his hood open. Said I was «in his personal bidness» because I took one step towards him leaving about three feet between us.
Front desk people are nice but hard to understand and will rush you. The 5 hour class with Frank was good, but standard. The office is in a dingy basement.
Finally you’re made to learn in the meat packing district after being told before paying you’ll go to the upper east side or alphabet city. This is hellish and not a good place to get familiar with driving.
Please, please avoid this school. Don’t read the positive reviews. I don’t know if they were paid for or if they just had low standards, but this school is a disgrace.

Very professional and accomodating. My instructor was Luke Louis-​Gene, and we met up at 6am to take a driving lesson and go straight to the road test. When I was scheduling my lesson, they got back to me on time, and was accomodating. Luke was very good in teaching me the basics but also helped to provide lots of good tips in parking, and making turns, etc. Most importantly, he helps you get comfortable with driving and makes you practice a lot during the short period, which really helped. I passed my road test with flying colors after 1 hour lesson with Luke. I would highly recommend him!

lovely people and good teaching. luke is a very good teacher as he points out mistakes loud and clear! got me from pt 4 – 10 in one hr flat. Mr frank is gentler on the nervers, better for those who are nervous about driving. ladies at the office are super sweet. very accommodating. cars arent the fanciest but serve the purpose just fine. reasonably priced.

Janet the receptionist is fantastic, she is super organized even called me to remind me what papers I should take to the test 3 days beforehand. Super nice gesture beside their prices are really reasonable! I did the 5 hour course, 2 hours practice class and the driving test package which includes the car and a teacher on the day. I was super stressed out pre exam for several reasons but Janet and Jude, the teacher took great care of me. Jude is v professional with a lovely calming manner helped me to ease into my task to pass the exam. on the way to Long Island he pointed out the things I have to focus on and I managed to pass with zero mistake points. (I did drive beforehand although not regularly at all in Europe)

Just had a 1hr driving lesson with a guy named something like Lamont (not sure of the spelling). It was a dreadful experience. First of all, as soon as I got into the car he covered the rear view mirror so I could not look at it, saying that it should not be used in the US (I’m from Europe and back there it’s ILLEGAL not to glance at the rear view mirror while driving or parking!). I was so puzzled that later I asked some Americans — and of course they said that the rear view mirror HAS to be used also in the US. The, he took me on the highway, kept telling me to accelerate while at the same time using his brakes, thus making my driving very uncomfortable. The best of all happened when he was trying to teach parking to a friend that was having the class with me. He wasn’t satisfied with her parking, so he took the wheel in order to show us the correct way. He first bumped into the nearby car, then tried two times more and went twice on the curb, and finally left saying that being unable to park properly was not his fault since the parking spot had «a weird perspective». I’m speechless.

I took the 5 hour class here, and it was not so bad, the chairs were comfortable and the instructor for the class was nice. So I decided to pay to take my road test and have a 1 hour lesson before taking the road test. The day that I went for my hour lesson, mind you my road test was at 1pm the lady told me to come by 10am not asking me what time was good for me, so I assumed my lesson would start at 11am since I had to pay the remaining balance I owed anyway after giving a deposit I got there 10:15 no where did the rude Indian lady over the phone tell me my lesson would start at 10am, by the time I gave her the remaining balance and another indian woman wanted to see my paper work AGAIN, by the time I got up stairs it was 10:30am the instructor then tells me ok we have 30 min to practice after I paid for the whole hour, so i disagreed with him and he got the rude indian lady on the phone with me to say the same thing, and I told her I didn’t agree to starting at 10am, and she never told me that was the start time she then starts yelling at me, so I told her to stop yelling at me i didnt know what she was saying while she began yelling in her strong indian accent, the next thing she tells me is to get the fuck out of «her» car and forget about it, they were not going to take me to my road test, and she was going to give me my money back. I was so angry that i told her she’s pathetic and can barely speak proper english and need to be more honest iunstead of trying to rip people off, why would I start my lesson at 10am when my road test didn’t start till 1pm, and I will go to a driving school thats run by Americans so there’s no bad communication, and that she’s got alot of nerve…

I was really impressed by Fast Track. The receptionist answered all of my questions over the phone, and at $ 40 they had the best deal I could find on the 5 hour mandatory prelicensing class. I took a class taught by Nick, and thought he was excellent. I’m considering also doing their package road test deal, which seems reasonably priced as well (especially since I’ll need a car).
You have to buzz the basement to get in, and there’s a 15 – 30 minute break during the 5 hour class.
