Health Harvest Health Food Store

I think this place is closed for got. I stopped by here to pick up lunch last week and almost cried when I found the store empty and dark. There was no notice anywhere so I don’t think this is temporary. Alas, a sad goodbye to the city’s nicest, freshest and tastiest sushi bowl and to the friendly chef who was a walking encyclopedia of alternative medicine and food science. I’ll really miss this place

The manager of the supplement side is a THIEF! He sold me a mislabeled product then would not refund or exchange for me bc I opened it. I would not have known had I not opened it. Avoid at all cost. Too bad bc the food is good.

I went to this store after seeing it and the reviews on Unilocal… very pleasantly surprised with the amount of selection. The food was great and tasty. The prices is what really made me happy though and I found snacks that I have not seen at other health stores. (Garden Lite Veggie Muffins… yummy)…

Very friendly staff. The juice is delicious, I had all greens with apple and citrus, for $ 6 and they accept credit card. You can do any variety of veggies and fruits for $ 6. Not sure if it’s the cheapest in town, but I like the location and the staff.

Great sushi! Very surprising. Moderately priced, brown, white or black rice. Very fresh. The rest of the store is great too! Great juices!

Great neighborhood place to get freshly made juice drinks.

From the outside, this looks like a small store but once inside, it is much larger and longer. There is a great selection of healthy foods and gluten free foods (great prices for NYC). They have a great hot food selection all the way in the back as well as a variety of juices. Steer clear from anything with garlic unless you want to be avoided all day– I made that mistake once. A lot of the juices have garlic in them so you can just have that taken out.

The customer service at Health Harvest Health Food Store is excellent and they make yummy fresh pressed juices (though the serving sizes could be bigger).

while the kicky renovation to add a lunch counter is a nice idea, the execution is really poor where food just sits in sternos to congeal, and oftentimes now the place just reeks of «off» fish…
but as a competitor for the nearby Health Nuts, it falls way short where it Really hurts: the wallet. Prices are consistently a LOT higher here and they just don’t have the variety of brands that neighboring shops have. For example, on the hunt for almond butter the other day the ONLY kind available here was raw, organic at $ 14. THN had about 7 choices, and although the same brand was $ 16 they also had another brand that came to $ 8. Guess which one I bought.
Similar stories with my fav Ito En tea and almond milk… prices higher and less choice (for the almond milk, they only had the small size, not the gallon equivalent where one might save for buying in quantity)
The salespeople are so helpful, always asking if they can get something from a shelf or help me find something & their selection of packaged nuts and such would make any squirrel jealous. I hope they step up their game and become a real competitor to THN.

When this place moved into my neighborhood last year, I really thought it would suck. Badly. A small organic store in Midtown East? It’s going to be silly and overpriced, and filled with useless Whole Foods-​type crap, only even more overpriced because the store is small. Why bother? Who needs another organic health food boutique, anyway?
But I was wrong, and I probably was a judgmental prick, kinda. Health Harvest isn’t massively overpriced: cereal and frozen foods and teas are about the same price as other (non-​organic) stores in the area. The tiny produce section is hit-​or-​miss, but the deli serves some pretty decent sandwiches, soups, and juices at a reasonable price. I’m embarrassed to admit that I live two blocks away, and didn’t even bother to try the deli for almost a year after it opened because I assumed it would suck.
Thanks guys, you don’t suck. I might suck though, for assuming that you would suck. But you don’t suck, so it’s all good.

Avoid this place unless you love a complete lack of customer service. I asked for a certain supplement and when I got home I saw they gave me the men’s formula. It took it back to be completely ignored until I finally got the man’s attention. I explained the situation and he said «we only have the men’s right now; there’s no difference.» When I asked then why there are two formulas, he just stared at me with no answer. Finally I said, «I take it you simply don’t care,» to a stony response. I would give them zero stars if it was an option.
