Description

Specialties

We combine evidence-based physical therapy with classical Chinese medicine to treat, prevent and manage a wide range of orthopedic conditions in a uniquely relaxed setting in the middle of busy NYC.

We specialize in treatment of sports injuries, overuse and repetitive motion injuries, posture-related injuries due to computer use, pre– and post-surgical therapy and much more, including headaches, myofascial pain syndrome, and visceral dysfunction.

We employ a combination of skilled manual medicine and therapeutic exercise derived from western physical therapy, classical Chinese medicine (Tui na, acupuncture/acupressure, cupping, external herbal application), and other modalities such as Thai Massage, Qi Gong, and Craniosacral Therapy.

Each course of treatment involves a complete evaluation of posture, biomechanics during static and dynamic movement, strength, flexibility, and tissue health. We are unique in that we spend at least 1 hour with each client per treatment and our approach is often a collaborative effort by multiple therapists.

History

Established in 2011.

When physical therapist Colin O’Banion began collaborating with classical Chinese medicine practitioner, Sean Orlando they learned to take the strengths of western-based, science-driven physical therapy and combine it with the tried and true approach of Chinese medicine to treat clients.

Over the next several years they worked together to develop a way of looking at the body holistically to treat pain, dysfunction, and prevent future injuries, and saw great results. And in 2011, Integrate Physical Therapy was established.
