Specialties
Acupuncture is especially helpful in the treatment of pain conditions such as back pain, neck pain, post-operative, post-surgical, and sports injuries. But it can be useful for everything from insomnia to menstrual disorders to digestive disorders. My specialty is in knowing when to use acupuncture, when to use massage therapy, when to combine the two, and when to refer out to another practitioner!
As an experienced massage therapist with over 14 years experience, I specialize in therapeutic medical massage for the treatment of sports injuries. Many common injuries, such as back pain with disc herniation or radiating pain and numbness down the arm, respond favorably to focussed and informed massage therapy. Additionally, I do preventative treatment for dancers and athletes. My technique is a combination of deep tissue massage plus Thai massage plus heat packs and liniments. The work is deep and effective but not painful.
History
Established in 1998.
* NY Licensed Massage Therapist with over 17 years experience
* NY Licensed Acupuncturist with over 10 years experience
* Board Certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine
* Certified in Clean Needle Technique
From 1997 – 1998 I attended the Swedish Institute and got my degree in Massage Therapy. After getting my NY license in 1998, I began working privately as well as in numerous other settings, including chiropractic offices, health clubs, and upscale spas. From 2002 – 2005 I attended Touro College’s extremely rigorous 10-semester Graduate Program in Oriental Medicine, earning a BS and an MS. While there, I interned at Lutheran Medical Center — one of the few opportunities in the USA to practice in a hospital setting — treating patients in the Ortho-Neuro, Oncology, and Labor & Delivery departments. Upon licensure, I opened a private practice in order to deliver effective treatment in a comfortable and relaxing environment.

Business Owner
Before getting involved in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine, I studied music (percussion) and Mandarin at Bennington College and at ChengDu University in mainland China. I moved to NYC in 1995 and worked for several years as a carpenter (always have liked working with my hands…) before getting involved in massage and acupuncture.
As a runner and martial artist, I understand the frustration of having a sports injury. I appreciate your desire to perform your best, and I share your eagerness to return to your sport or art as quickly as possible!
When I’m not treating patients at the office, or running, or at martial arts class, I can be found playing with my nephews, or cooking a delicious and involved breakfast for my lovely and talented wife. Or sleeping in my hammock with a book on my chest.
