Business Owner

Born in 1975, Klaus Enrique grew up in Mexico City. He studied Genetics at the University of Nottingham, England, and received an MBA from Columbia Business School in the City of New York. Most of his working career was spent as a freelance IT consultant before Klaus Enrique turned to photography, which he studied at Parsons and at the School of Visual Arts. Klaus Enrique began to receive worldwide attention in 2007 when his portrait of «Mother & Daughter» was short listed for the Photographic Portrait Prize at London’s National Portrait Gallery.

Klaus is great! I went to get an author photo for a book jacket. I’d never done anything like this before, but he walked me through the process ahead of time, put me at ease, and took some great shots. He was also great at going through the shots to pick the best one for my book; he wasn’t afraid to express his opinion but always explained what it was based on (for instance, everybody likes his or her own image in soft-​focus, but clear focus looks better to others). Most of all, he was very flexible: he wanted a slight smile, but when he realized those aren’t natural to me he quickly shifted to asking for either serious looks or real smiles. Finally, Klaus was willing to tell his retoucher to hurry up when I told him I needed the shot soon. In the end I got a terrific looking photo for much less money than headshot photographers normally charge. I’m very satisfied.

Fantastic professional service. Klaus helps find your best looks and is patient. He reviewed the shots halfway through with me and we could both see my best side and facial expressions. Then he allowed me to change and go through the entire shoot again. He was very encouraging and I felt a bit like a model in a movie — with him saying «beautiful» «give me more smile» and cheering me on. It was more tiring than I thought but he was great at getting me to relax and for this price, the least expensive I found, cash only, you cannot do better.
Plus, my shots look like me! Which all my acting teachers say is a must. Not some wind blown over touched plastic.
Lastly, unlike so many other studios I looked into, Klaus burns you a disk right then and there with ALL of the images after you’ve reviewed them so you are sure you like them. So you can get them printed as you wish. The other studios often would take 2 WEEKS! to burn a disk.
