Kookopa is a community where women can discover amazing closets around them, and can rent their items to and from each other. We allow lenders to monetize their closet without parting with their beautiful items, and allow borrowers to rent amazing «hidden gems» to fit every occasion. We take care of the entire listing, shipping, drycleaning and insurance, so all you have to do is look amazing!

History

Established in 2013.

Kookopa was started because one of the co-​founders, Seema needed to borrow a dress for graduation. She naturally turned to her friend Claire, who has an amazing closet (and a major shopping problem!). But they’re not the same size — so we thought, can we connect friends, and friends of friends, to create a trusted community where women can rent their items hassle-​free to and from each other! Finally, you can ask to «borrow» that amazing dress from a girl at a party without seeming like a stalker. We’re bringing women’s favorite way to shop — aka «borrow» to the 21^st century.

Kookopa was started by two friends — Claire Allison & Seema Gohil.

Fun fact: they’re both African; Seema is Kenyan and Claire is South African. Hence we named the company «Kookopa» which means to borrow in Swahili
