Best hair cut I’ve had in years. He really takes his time and it grows out very well.

Always happy with Nori’s cuts. His technique is up-to-date and sophisticated. As an Asian male who travels regularly to Tokyo and Seoul, I’m delighted to have someone like Nori who is up on the latest styles. Also love the cool, calm, all-white spa-like vibe of his little salon hidden behind a minimal, inconspicous façade in gritty east village.

This salon is truly a hidden gem. Non Matsuura is such a talented stylist! I recently visited him to chop my long layers into a much shorter style. I brought a few photos to show him what I had in mind. He studied the photos, offered smart suggestions, and translated my inspiration into a style that feels fresh and totally me. Non has great personal style and an eye for what suits his customer. He spends time to get the cut right, with precise snips from an arsenal of scissors. Best of all, I’m amazed by how reasonably priced his services are. Perhaps the fact that Non Project is a small, personal salon rather than a huge, haircutting factory helps keep the prices so reasonable. I am beyond thrilled with my new haircut and loving all the compliments. I’m so glad to have discovered Non Project.

I’ve been going to Nori for 10 years now and he’s the best around — great cuts, relaxed atmosphere and individual attention. Great music too.

It seemed like my then-stylist was breaking up with me. The last time I saw him, he seemed disinterested and didn’t give me the attention he used to. The next time I tried to set a date, he gave me vague responses or didn’t respond at all. So, I called the new guy. Nori, or Non for short, picked up the phone after 2 rings. During that call, he set a date and time and gave me the location with helpful details: a white door, no sign. I got there 5 minutes early and rang the bell. He was ready. After explaining what I wanted, he showed me some pictures to make sure he understood. He helped me find one that was close to what I was looking for. With some modification, he went to work. Non is an artist who almost dances while he cuts. You can tell he loves what he does. He spends time on the cut.(Well, maybe that’s because I have a lot of hair.) The other guy barely spent 20 minutes with me. Non spent an entire hour. He washed my hair himself and, after the cut, rinsed it. So it was double the sensual hairwash experience. The cut was a process; you could tell he wanted to get it right. The whole experience was like when a good cook takes a recipe and changes a few things to it while cooking to make an amazing dish. I really like my new do. I don’t use a hairdryer at home and rarely use products besides shampoo. But I can tell, I’m going to wake up tomorrow morning and love this cut. And to add to it all, it didn’t cost a half day’s pay. [Next Day…] Well, my hair doesn’t exactly do what I hoped it would do, but it’s still a good cut. Pretty good for a first time visit. Will definitely go back.
