NYC Doggies

NYC Doggies is a fantastic company, everyone associated with the organization is really sweet and caring. We also used them for overnight stays and had a wonderful experience. I think our dog came back better behaved after 4 days with an NYC Doggies sitter! I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a dog walking or dog sitting service.

Where to start… Jen and everyone at NYC Doggies are the absolute best! We have used them for hikes and boarding for the past two years and could not be happier. Our dog, Dune, is obsessed with Jen and Jaclyn. He loves them so much we had to change his hiking schedule from once a week to twice a week. They post pictures on Facebook of every hike, which are great to see. Their have been times I forgot what day it was and I log onto Facebook to see Dune with a big grin on his face standing in a pile of mud (don’t worry they somehow always come home clean). They also randomly email me fun notes about whatever Dune did that day, always along with a picture. When we go out of the town, they are the first people we call to watch Dune (and our new puppy, Parker). They will send you pictures of your dog having a blast (and not missing you one bit). I’ve gotten pictures of Dune sleeping in bed, cuddling with Jen’s dog on the couch, and playing in the snow. We are very happy NYC Doggies came into our lives. They have made Dune (and Parker) very happy and they have allowed us to be without our dogs and not have to worry. They are honest, knowledgeable, and reliable. They really love and care about dogs and it shows. They have been the best to work with. I would highly recommend them!

I’m writing this review because my wife tried to write a review and for some reason Unilocal puts it in the not recommended category. I’ll make this short.
Professionals that communicate. Good value.
Each dog walk they scan the dog and email you exactly when the dog is picked up. I communicate daily with my dog walkers. They have even taken our dog on a hike which she had a blast on. GPS collars and everything. Thanks NYC doggies.

Our dog Maggie arrived in our home as an adorable, wild puppy. Ovidiu trained her and now she is an adorable, well-​mannered dog. We have used Ovi and his team for four years for boarding Maggie when we are out of town and to walk her when we can’t. She adores NYC Doggies and so do we!!! HIGHLY recommended.

The first time I saw Ovidiu at the dog park he was throwing balls to a group of dogs. What caught my attention was not just the way he interacted with the dogs but the way the dogs interacted with HIM. You could tell they not only respected him but had a great affection for him.
When I began having some play and ball aggression issues with my own dog, a friend recommended Ovi and I did not hesitate to go to to him for help. As a Veterinary technician I have seen lots of people claim to be dog trainers but all it took was observing him in the park with those dogs and I knew he could help me. Not only did he help me with the issues I was most concerned about but he taught me every day rules/​commands that would help me be in better control of my dog. I finally had a dog that listened, heeled and was better at socializing at the park.
When the time came that I needed to incorporate a dog walker into our lives I was so happy it would be Ovi or one of his staff. My dog was soon one of those dogs that adored Ovi and I knew she was always in capable hands at the park and on walks. I also knew she would be engaged in play and not just lying around while the walker sat on a bench near by. Her other walker is Anton and he is wonderful as well. As with Ovi, I trusted him 100% for whatever situation might arise and my dog adores him too. If either one of them shows up at the park when she is with me, she is up and running to greet them!
I also have peace of mind when my dog has needed to board overnight with Ovi or Anton. I know she is getting more quality walks and play than she gets with me most days. I am able to enjoy my vacation knowing she is enjoying hers!
There are tons of dog walkers and «trainers» in NYC but very few I would trust with my dog. I feel so fortunate to have met Ovi and his staff and I can’t praise them enough. If you are looking for a service like the one they provide then look no further, you have found the best!

I created this review page regarding Ovi. He obviously found some ‘friends” to write good reviews for him. He injured my dog and is so arrogant he pretends he doesn’t know about it here on Unilocal,just as he insisted he didn’t injure my dog when it happened. He scares me, so I’ll stop here… he knows what he did and does and he’s not a good business man or a good person; period.
Your perspective vs mine:
I never claimed to be a NYC Doggies client. Ovi injured my dog in the Dog run.
He was playing ball in the dog run where the rules clearly are stated at the doors entrance, «no ball throwing».
he claims it hit my dog in the «head», it was in the «eye socket», I was standing right there during Twlight and my dog Unilocaled and stumbled as he came immediately towards e in pain. «It was a regular plastic ball», not it was a neon (glow-​in-​the-​dark) hard rubber.
«but couldn’t care less after», That’s almost funny that he writes that, either Ovi is a Liar or completely oblivious, either way it’s bad.
«Sticking her finger in her dog’s eye», right. now I know he’s a liar. He was unable to open his thrid eyelid (for protection due to the injury) as puss was growing on it immedately, the Vet will contest to this.
«the dog was opening his eye normally», Ovi kept saying this but that was not the case and like I said, he was concerned for #1, himself, not the dog
«Less than 36 hours later we meet again in the dog park» that’s hysterical. we did NOT meet in the dog run… my dog refused to enter the PARK, let alone the dog run… he pulled me (and he stills pulls my husband or I away, to this day) and Ovi pretended he didn’t see us on the other side of the (low) gate between the runa dn the sidewalk. When I called out «hello», in a very calm nice manner he «chinned» to me… in a flat affect, low voice, «how is he?», I told him he was better and how would he like to deal with this, he replied, «deal with what? I did nothing.» He insisted he wanted to see the bill, so I went home left my dog and returned to the gate with the bill, he took it and stepped away from me so I would not be able to take it from his hand (I presume) and proceeded to copy information off of the bill onto his smart phone. He returned it and said he did not believe this was necessary and the Vet should not have even treated him and that he was not going to do anything because he had not injured my dog.
I began to speak in a loud tone, yes, so all the people int he dog run would know that this man is looking for business in our community but was handling a situation of concern in an unprofessional manner. he was menacing and arrogant and did not offer any type of concern, support, care for my animal or anything beyond thinking of #1 and how this effects him.

Ovi can keep telling himself that and writing that as much as he wants, it is completely not true and I have TWO vet’s and an emergency room full of vet assistants to confirm this. it was 9pm when I took him to the VERG emergency room and the visit was about $ 70 + the narcotic he was given to relieve the pain and the antibiotics. I think I should know a lot better what happened, what was said and what my dog suffered then you Ovi, you just show your arrogance by insisting on saying you know better than the veterinarian’s.

«I would never run away from my responsibilities, be they moral, financial or of any sort but, this was about common sense and a serious exaggeration.» You did run away, you were arrogant, which leads one to believe your common sense is under question, not mine.

My father was a veterinarian. I grew up with dogs and horses. When I got my dog Merv (a Hurricane Katrina rescue) I went to the dog parks and watched the walkers for 2 weeks. One stood out, consistently, every day. Ovi. He spent the entire time in the park with the dog playing with him and training him when needed. The dog was large and needed to be exercised. In the 45 minutes I watched, Ovi never stopped. The next day he was there again with a smaller dog. Same thing. On his feet, enticing the dog to move and play. He never sat down. The other dog walkers were sitting on benches (I understand!), but not Ovi. I talked to Ovi about training my new rescue Merv, a jack russell, who happened to be around 8 years old and didn’t know how to sit. Ovi trained Merv beautifully and then Ovi trained me. Merv did better than I did, but I’m working on it still. Merv can sit, heal, laydown, roll over, stay — and I mean really stay. Not only did he train Merv, he stopped his bad habits. Merv was a dog park humper and often this would start a fight in the park. I was afraid to go in. Now Merv plays with others nicely and NEVER humps. Part of Ovi’s team is a man named Anton. Anton continued the training and consistency of Ovi’s work with Merv on his daily walks. Not only does Anton walk Merv, encourage play (I’ve spied, I’ll admit it) but Anton provides tremendous love and affection with Merv. Thanks to Ovi and his team mate Anton, I watched a very damaged rescue dog who had been in kennels for two years, become a confident, well behaved, proud dog and the cloudy eyes turned bright again. He is full of joy — and energy — you would never know that he is now 12! I owe so much to them. I cannot recommend more highly Ovi and his team, for walking, training, and boarding. Merv lives at either Anton’s or Ovi’s whenever I leave town and he is in great shape and happy when I come home. I trust them more than I can express in words. Let me put it this way, I’ve been wondering if I could leave Merv to them in my will. :-)
