I’ve been working directly across the street from this place for 3 years. I was surprised to see it closed. Does anyone know why they shut down?

The worst $ 70 manicure & pedicure I have EVER experienced! All these NY manicurists need to come to California to get training!
I was in the city from California to get my engagement shoot done and came here to get my mani and pedi done for my shoot. You would think if you told them it was your engagement shoot they would do a better job but not here! I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. In California, they spend an hour just on the pedicure! The lady here barely scrubbed my feet. After walking around NYC for the past week, my feet were in pain and in need of some TLC and they did not get that here. I asked for a French tip on toes and got some skinny, irregular, crooked line. They didn’t even know the proper method of doing a french tip. That you put on plenty of the white polish and then use a small flat brush and nail polish remover to shape it. She just free-​handed it thinking she could do it and it turned out looking like a child did it. I was extremely shocked when she told me the total was $ 70 + tip. For the worst mani pedi of my life. I don’t know how clean her tools were either because she had the tools in a small pencil box and would just wipe them on a paper towel and put them back in a box. The sanitized tools in California come in sealed, sanitized packets that you have to peel open.

Neat and very clean. I went in after lunch on a Friday and there was no wait at all. The lady in front took my jacket and walked me to the pedicure area. Got a gel pedicure, very well done, great service ! Will go back

Stay away. I am from out of town and needed to desperately do my nails so I picked this place being so close to my hotel.
Super expensive. $ 88 for a gel manicure!!! Are you kidding me?!
My nails are not fully painted and they are all creased because she clearly didn’t give it enough time to dry!
I am furious and will never go back. I do not recommend this place.
There was no one in the shop besides me so no reason why she couldn’t do it right!!!

This place is a joke. The place itself is nice until one of the ladies Lina attempts to do your nails. I’ve never written a Unilocal review before, but after this experience I was compelled. Not only did she do a horrid job on my nails, she then told me it would be 78 dollars for regular pedicure and gel manicure. My nails look terrible and there is polish all over my fingers. THEN when I questioned the job she did and the price, she said «you do have cash for tip, right? We will need it in cash.» Excuse me? I wanted to love this place, as it is 3 blocks from my office, but rest assured I will NEVER be back.

Everything is better in New York! I’m a California local, visiting New York and was in dear need of a pedicure/​massage after trekking this beautiful city. The place was very clean, and friendly staff. I have to say I had the best foot and hand massage compared to «all» the nail salons I’ve been to in LA. Usually the foot scrubs for me have been quick and not helpful. My technician paid attention to all the spots that needed TLC. And did I mention? The foot massage was Awesome! Located on the second floor on its own. The elevator opens directly to the salon. Fancy! Nice view of the busy city as your getting your mani. When I come back to New York, I’ll remember to stop by here, it will be one of my go to spots. :-)

I was in the area on my way to a Broadway show and decided to go to Serinity Spa for a mani/​pedi. The place is undoubtedly clean and sanitary and in light of the recent NY Times exposé, I am very cognizant of where I now get my mani/​pedis. But for the price that they charge ($ 44 for both), you would expect your manicurist/​pedicurist to take time to do your nails! I allocated 1+ hour for our nails, but it took at most 35 minutes including drying time! If you want «express» nail service, definitely go to this place, but don’t expect to pay express prices. For the prices that they charge, I would rather go somewhere else.

Lina was amazing. I needed to get my nails done quick and she executed beautifully. Highly recommend her and the salon. Thank you!

Worst acrylic fill in ever. First it was $ 45 for a fill in and $ 7 to repair a nail. Now, 2 days later I have 3 broken nails. The fill in was paper thin, the service was good because they do a quick hand massage and warm towel but the actual nail service was horrible and it was not worth my money at all. I also felt forced into giving a tip. I was followed to the front door and a tip was requested. I still can’t believe I have 3 broken nails after a $ 50 fill in only 2 days later. That’s more than u pay for a full set of nails in other places. I would only go here for a manicure, not acrylic or fill in nails ever. I feel so cheated. Now I have to pay to get my nails done over and it’s only been 2 days and I’m out over $ 50

Really really friendly people, and a great space. I got the sea salt pedicure and a manicure, along with having gel polish removed.
I really did like the people and have a nice time, but I have 2 gripes that keep this from being a contender in unseating my favorite (near home, whereas this is near the office) Wistaria Nails.
1. This is the big one… she put the polish on so thick that it just won’t dry completely so it’s already full of dents and smudges… this despite 2 rounds with their dryer and careful usage for another 35 minutes. I knew it was happening when she was doing it – you could see the polish piling up on my nails – but didn’t feel like making a scene because I can have a new manicure next week at Wistaria. She did a great job with everything else – it’s very neatly done, and the cutting and filing were done with attention to detail.
2. It was $ 10 to remove my gel polish, and the total for what I had done came to $ 83 before tip. That just seems like more than it was worth, as I can get a gel polish and pedicure for that at other places. This is less critical because I have to acknowledge this is midtown.
In sum, really nice people but not a polish job that is going to last.

Serenity Nail & Spa is really a gorgeous nail salon… and very affordable considering the Midtown area. It’s 3 – 5 dollars cheaper than the places in Times Square! They also have a great selection of Opi colors that are arranged by shades and color family like a giant blended rainbow. It’s a level of OCD that I can most certainly get down with especially for the price and the quality.

The WORST, most EXPENSIVE manicure. The color was running all over my nails and her solution was to keep painting over it. Clearly I don’t have an even coat of polish on my nails and this deep red needs it. Then she charged me $ 46!!! For this crappy job she did. I will never return. This is what I get for cheating on my nail lady. SMFH!

My father and I absolutely loved the services rendered! Clean & neat location… very friendly & professional staff. They do great work!!! Prices are very fair

Clean and organized place, though expensive ($ 14 for a mani; $ 44 mani+pedi).
Either way, don’t expect to get all your cuticles removed — it is not at all as the Brazilian mani and pedicure, but quite good for my taste! As I don’t like to take off a lot of cuticles it didn’t bother me.
What else? Oh, they give you a quick massage on your shoulders while you wait your nails to dry — no extra charge.

Amazing nail salon in Midtown West. They always have the latest colors from Essie and OPI. I came here for bi weekly mani /​pedis and eyebrow waxes before I moved. Also David gives the best massages!
Mani /​pedis are pricier at $ 45, but worth it!

I went in to get a pedicure because I was in the neighborhood.
The procedure was extremely rushed and only took about 10 min! After that the guy asked me to give him a 5 dollar tip?!! Gave me a whole different price than what was in the menu– His price was including tips. ??
Anyway he pushed me to get quick dry — which didn’t help at all, and my nails was cracked when I got home!
Not going back!

Clean space. Updated clean equipment and décor. You feel like your in a spa setting not a typical grungy NYC nail salon.
They were using autoclave to sterilize, which is a big plus.
My technician listened to what I wanted as far as trimming the cuticle well and painting the white part of my french gel manicure bigger than the actual tip of my nail. She did get a little rough with it but this time I felt like it may have been necessary considering I requested really clean cuticles. I didn’t notice until after I left that she must have nipped me just a bit because I didn’t feel it… but there was a slight bit of blood that started to appear at the side of my nail between my nail and skin.
She also gave a pretty good shoulder rub afterward while the gel was on its final curing cycle. The hand massage was too short but it was done well.
The reason for only 3 stars is the price of the gel manicures start at $ 50 which would have been fine in NYC. But, since I was getting a French gel the price went up $ 15. The total cost was $ 67.00 before tip. That is an outrageous price for a shellac french gel manicure. I would not have stayed once I found out the price but I didn’t have time to leave and go someplace else. Plus, the place seemed clean and that is really hard to come by in NYC.
It has been just over a week and the gel looks perfect. Still shiny with no chips or peeling. Cuticles still look neat as well. If the cost doesn’t bother you, then I recommend trying this nail salon.

I really don’t understand the plethora of positive reviews of Serenity. I was completely underwhelmed from start to finish. Yes, the space is nice and serene – especially for midtown. However, that one fact does not compensate for the rest of my mostly negative experience.
First, I went in the middle of the day and there were very few customers. I was told I would have to wait for 15 minutes which was fine. I waited much longer than 15 minutes. Fine. Let’s move on.
The pedicure was fine. There were no frills. It was just a straight pedicure. While receiving said pedicure, the tech said «You want a gel manicure as well, $ 50?» When she said this, based on my experience thus far, I assumed she meant $ 50 for the gel and pedicure. I did not learn until I received my bill at the end that it was only $ 50 for the gel manicure?!! I’ve never paid that much for a gel manicure. EVER. Even at my beloved LIC Emily, the gel manicure is only $ 45 and they do a much better job.
The gel manicure was fine. Aside from the fact that I felt that the tech made me hold my hands under the UV light for an inordinate amount of time. I thought «Well, hopefully if I let it dry longer, it will last longer (even though I may get skin cancer at some point.).» Hey, beauty is pain, people!
Unfortunately, I noticed that as soon as I returned home, my gel manicure was ALREADY PEELING!!! FOR $ 50 THIS THING WON’T EVEN LAST A DAY!!!
Oh yeah, the color selection is terrible.
This place is overpriced and not high quality. I will not be back.
