The Grout Man, NYC

Amazing experience. Our tenant’s shower was leaking into our kitchen, and we discovered that it was not a plumbing problem, but a tile /​grout problem. Our plumber could not refer to someone to could take on the small job of regrouting and replacing the messed up tiles.
This morning (Sunday) I sat down on Unilocal to figure out who to call. Frank answered the phone at 8:30AM, and offered to come over on Tuesday to give an estimate. I figured that was convenient enough. But an hour later he called back and offered to come today!
He arrived on time, and after assessing the situation offered me two options: a quick and cheap fix that would last for a couple of years until we renovate, or a more permanent fix for about $ 200 more. Based on prior bad experiences with quick fixes, I went with the permanent job. Much to my delight, he said he could just stay and take care of it today (remember, Sunday!!).
The job was completed in about 4 hours, and the bathroom looks fantastic — all the old moldy grout and caulk is gone, and everything looks gleaming white and finally properly affixed to the wall. The price was reasonable, and Frank was a pleasure to deal with. I recommend him without hesitation — what a fantastic and convenient experience!

an addendum to the review below– a year since the original work was done and frank quinn himself came back and fixed the tiles. since i am selling my place, it didn’t matter any more, so HE GAVE ME BACK $ 200. seriously. in cash. i have so much respect for this guy’s integrity. thank you, frank.

Edit to the review below. Subsequently, someone came over, albeit an hour and a half late. This guy just heard about the job the prior night at 11pm and knew nothing about what the estimate called for. That said, he was very friendly, and came over and did a decent job. Raising star rating from 1 to 2, but honestly, their main number is out of service, and can’t get a hold of anyone on the number left on the invoice. Not sure what’s going on…
Unilocal, PLEASE REMOVE THIS LISTING. THESE GUYS ARE OUT OF BUSINESS! But, not before they came over, gave me a $ 500 estimate, made me pay $ 250 down, cashed my check, and then never showed up. Super sleazy stuff.
Their ex-​manager Mark left a voicemail on my phone that he was «no longer with the company because they went bankrupt and could no longer pay [his] salary.» Their main number is now mysteriously disconnected, can’t reach them by this other number on their invoice, and Mark won’t pick up either… seriously, I can’t make this stuff up.
There is a special place for these type of people, especially you, «Daniel», for invoicing people for services you have no intention of fulfilling…

Outstanding service and work done. Mark (the general manager) handled all of my calls and emails and was extremely responsive. I have had my shower re-​grouted 2 times previously with pretty lame results. This time the shower looks brand new and will hopefully last longer as Mark discussed various products with me for long term results. The price was very similar with the 2 companies prior. The man who completed the work was meticulous and friendly. I have had a very difficult time getting good service and high quality work for a fair price in this neighborhood. I would highly recommend the Grout Man.

This is an update on the still unfinished and three times cancelled bathroom grouting that was begun on July 2. No returned phone calls, (caller ID?) no completed work, no indication that it will ever be done. Both times they canceled the job after they were to have arrived. I have no recourse as they have already taken the money. Not professional, scheming and unreliable.

Frank the Grout Man charged me $ 75 just for coming to my house to give me an estimate on some work in my bathrooms. He told me the $ 75 could go towards the eventual price of the work, but that he had a $ 500 minimum.
But he then told me that the job in my apartment bathrooms was simultaneously too small (under $ 500) AND too big (over $ 500) for him to do. That was the last I heard from him. I called him over and over, never heard a thing in response.
To that point, I was totally unsatisfied with the «Grout Man.» I posted a negative review here and then the manager of the company, Mark, reached out to me personally. He was both apologetic and constructive. We spoke for some time and Mark promised he would address all of my concerns for future customers.
I eventually found another service to do the work in my bathroom, so didn’t use the Grout Man. But Mark’s response caused me to raise my review from 1 to 3 stars. Since I use Unilocal all the time, I thought people should know both about my negative experience and Mark’s positive response.

My experience with this business was positive, from beginning to end. Frank Quinn was terrific and responded quickly to my initial request for an estimate. Daniel and Andrew did a great job with new grout and caulking in my bathroom. I would use Grout Man’s services again.

Frank Quinn, and his colleague, Todd, recently worked in all three of our bathrooms.
They helped us to update our bathrooms with clean, new grout and caulking. I also had them clean and recolor all of the grout on my kitchen floor. They did the work, staying overtime to make it all finish in the stated two days. They were clean, copious and went the extra mile to make sure that I was happy with the results. In my work as an interior designer and home stager, I am sure that I will have opportunity to use their services again. And I will definitely do so!

Frank and Todd did an excellent job re-​grouting my pre-​war bathroom. Frank costed the job quickly and efficiently, was punctual for all appointments and happily accommodated an extra request (to replace a broken tile) that I presented on the day. Him and Todd completed the work to a very high standard and left my bathroom clean and tidy. They are a courteous and capable team — a pleasure to have around in fact! I highly recommend them.

The Groutman did a superb job regrouting my two bathrooms. The grout had been discolored and the surrounding caulking was brown. Frank responded quickly to give me an estimate and an appointment to do the work was set within the next week. The work was meticulous and now my bathrooms look practically new. Both Frank and Todd were professional, pleasant and completed the work as they said they would within one day.

Frank, The Grout Man, and his partner, Todd, did an amazing job helping me finish my DIY tile project in my office that I struggled to finish on my own. They finished grouting my bathroom and tiled my kitchen backsplash. They’re work is top-​notch and even helped mask my own tiling mistakes. They were very professional, courteous, timely and clean. The price for the job was also fair, and I’ll definitely use them again for my tiling and grout needs. I’m very happy with their work.
