Bought an awesome bag (chinook) from these guys a while back and found the bag to be defective soon after purchasing it. went in to see if they could fix or replace it and was essentially told I was S.O.L.
thanks a lot, guys. I’ll head back bag to Filson for my next bag purchase.

I was just in here with my fiancè and we received possibly the worst service. The asian man at the counter, (I don’t recall his name) was servicing me. He was extremely rude in his demeanor, in addition a blue eyed gentleman working there asked if the shoe I tried on worked for me and when I replied «no,» he sucked his teeth.
The atmosphere here is elitist and certainly without reason.
I’m not spending my money here, and you would be well advised not to either.

The store and shoes /​apparel choice are good but the employees are very unfair. It seems you re boring you.
Maybe they sell too much, I asked to try some items and they replied «there isnt the size» but when I showed the tag on shoes telling the availability they give me its. I bought 3 pair of shoes… maybe next time I ll choose an other shop… there are plenty of its.

Je voulais absolument me ramener une (ou plusieurs) paires de Vans de NYC. J’avais donc cherché sur Unilocal où trouver un store Vans et celui-​ci était le seul offi de Manhattan.
Résultat, la boutique est jolie mais on né nous dit pas bonjour quand on entre. Il y a quelques paires originales mais impossible de mettre la main sur des basiques…
Bref, totalement déçue de l’endroit qui a plutôt l’air de tout miser sur le design.

Although the store is nicely designed and they have a great selection of Vans merch this is not a true vans store meaning they don’t abide by Vans policies meaning the shoes I returned within three days of purchase in perfect condition in box with receipt they refused to credit back to my credit card citing the «store policy» they failed to tell be about during purchase. They only give store credit which means I have to go to the store again; that will be the last time for sure.
My policy that I failed to mention to them upon purchase is that I leave bad Unilocal reviews for business with bad customer centered policies.

Bumped in to this place one dreary Jan eve after getting Miiiiii Glaaases fixed at Selima’s and fell immediately in love. I have been rocking Vans since my days sitting on top of the half pipe at SPI — mostly just watching others drop in. These guys curate quite a lovely collection. Stop in and see if they have the gear for you.

The décor is a cool and the atmosphere is your typical soho-​boutique vibe. When stopping in on a Friday evening, the place was packed. It’s not a big sales floor but there is a good amount of cool clothing and footwear to choose from. The staff aren’t too customer service oriented but that’s the way it goes in these boutiques from NY to LA. The manager was helping a customer who was interested in a jacket. The manager told the customer the price, and said he’d take 30% off (which I thought was cool of him). The customer obviously wasn’t interested anymore so the manager proceeded to make uncalled for comments and joking with the staff. Like I said, that’s what you get with these places. Know what you want before you ask, and don’t be afraid to walk out empty handed if you feel offended.

Stopped in yesterday and saw a pair of black hi-​top chukkas, so I asked one of the employees if he had the low top model in stock. He got this big smirk and while half-​laughing gave a long winded answer about how they «are the worst skate shoe ever» and «they don’t carry that kind of shit» and that I was «better off going to PacSun or Zumiez.»
Homie, I wish you just told me no. But while I appreciate the snide remark suggesting that you have real skate cred and I have shitty mall brand tendencies, that doesn’t make any sense.
You do know that working at the franchised, sell-​out version of a legendary shop in the East Village that even the once owner (Dave, the D in DQM) is now too embarrassed to associate himself with because of how mainstream it has become, does not entitle you to hardcore streetcred, right?
You do know I wasn’t talking about the 106 model but the actual chukka low, which is a revision designed by the vans skate team riders for the express purpose of riding, and that even disregarding that, it’s ludicrous to suggest you only carry proper skate shoes in a shop that primarily carries a mix of OTW (the diffusion line meant to target a non-​skate demographic) and women’s shit with fringes and beads on it? You know that right?
But whatever man, you’re the pro in the pro skateshop, not the guy in the lifestyle concept boutique, a majority of whose walk-​ins are tourists, you don’t need to give a fuck about proper service. You keep it raw bro!!!
I’m too embarrassed to come back here, I guess I’ll have to stick to Dave’s real spot on Baxter. Maybe he can hook me up with some real skate shoes, like those fringed, beaded joints.

My husband and I visited the store to buy him new shoes. He was looking for 2 – 3 new pairs. We had our 2 year old and 7 week old with us so time is of the essence. He wanted to try a bunch on, choose a few quite quickly and leave. My husband asked to try about six pairs on — he added a couple on at the end and during the request the assistant Jeannie turned to her work colleague and said ‘this guys a douche bag’. She didn’t even try to hide her comment.
I was SO taken back, I am in the fashion industry, I work as a concept/​trend consultant and designer for major brands. I have travelled extensively and shopped NY and the world analyzing the market and not once have I witnessed such rude customer service. My husband is a very good and friendly guy, a successful entrepreneur in the media space. The comment was completely uncalled for — we had not done anything wrong apart from ask for shoes to try on. A job she was there to assist us with.
We left with one pair of shoes, very disappointed with what had happened and unfortunately completely turned off the brand altogether. The level of attitude is uncalled for. Happy to know there are better brands with more competent employees elsewhere.

While the Vans catalogue of shoes could fill a two bedroom apartment at any time this place is pretty lean on variety with a higher focus on limited editions and the OTW line of more formal sneakers/​casual work shoes. If you’re even remotely a sneaker head you will not be leaving this place without a new pair of kicks. The service is just okay.

STORE:
Vans x DQM has a wide selection of premium/​exclusive shoes, all included with the premium price. You get what you pay for though, I believe. If you’re a fan of Van’s then this is the place to stop on by, even if it’s just for some browsing. Oh, and I’m okay with anyplace that plays Morrissey.
SERVICE:
The staff here are pretty laid back and nice. Not too snobby, which is always a great thing when you’re about to drop some money!

I placed a phone order with DQM. I live in Los Angeles, but they were the only store I could find that carried a particular style of Vans I was looking for & in my size. It was a great experience. My first email inquiry was immediately responded too. They had my shoes & set them aside for me. I called & completed by order and the shoes were mailed out the next morning. They arrived within the week!
I can’t say how much I appreciate working with a company that is responsive to email inquiries, who call you back, and who follow through with what they say they are going to do. Lydia, who assisted me was incredibly nice & very helpful. She answered all my questions & made sure that I had tracking info ont the package.
I would totally order from DQM again and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Wish I could stop in the store & check it out … next time I’m in the city1

A nicely curated selection of Vans, including some limited release styles. Thankfully the staff isn’t too-​cool-​for-​school, which makes this an enjoyable spot to check out.
I stopped in to pick up a specific style (
), but saw a few other things I may return for.

The store looks great… has that early century cobbler’s quarters kinda appeal. If you’re a Vans nut, they have some real premium selections here, so prepare to spend.
Thing is, I still don’t understand the Vans x DQM parternship; Vans can definitely ride this project out on its own, and sadly, DQM has fallen outta the street-​wear limelight for a bit — although it still is an NYC urban scene institution. Why not just a Vans standalone? In any case, a fresh, bright spot in the SoHo sneaker shopping horizon — one that’s been flat-​lining over the last couple of years.

The Vans DQM General– NY is another ingenious idea from Dave the Meat Man himself. Located between the neighborhoods of SoHo and Chinatown, its sure to bring large crowds of skateboard heads and wanna-​be rappers and hipsters. Exclusive merchandise. Worth a check!
