Ultimate Spectacle

My sister bought her frames from here and so I came along while she had them adjusted and the staff was super sweet and friendly. I think I may make the trip over next time from Philly to check out the wide selection, as I love my sister’s new frames!!!

You’ll be hard-​pressed to find a better high-​end optical shop in Manhattan. Ultimate Spectacle exceeds expectations in every way, from its sleek décor to its diverse selection of frames to its wonderful optometrist, Dr. Wertheim. Expect to see a few brands you’ve never heard of — they’re ahead of the curve in stocking up-​and-​coming designer products. But they’ll help you navigate your options with a level of expertise you don’t see very often. It’s really nice to know that optical shops like this exist.

Went today to get new sunglasses and was blown away by the selection quality as well as customer service. One saleswomen in particular, Anne Marie, was outstanding and really ensured I had a positive experience whole shopping there. Definately going to come here next time I need sunglasses and would highly advise all to follow suit.

Courteous staff, Mario and Karin did a great job facilitating my special order Tag Heuer eyeglasses. Excellent location, the store is new and well lit. Ultimate has an impressive and eclectic eyewear selection!

The staff and Doctors are very helpful and professional, I would recommend them to anyone.

The ladies who helped me pick out my frames were SO nice and helpful! This is my first pair of glasses and they made it fun. The doctor took time to really work with me.
I had a weird problem: when I got my glasses, I could see better, but I couldn’t think well with them. Honestly, it freaked me out. After a week, I called them to see if they had recommendations and they said «come in.» They did a new exam, looking at now how I saw best, but how little we could do for me to see well. Basically, the second time, if things were relatively the same, we went with something that was as little a change as possible.
They replaced the lens for free, even though it wasn’t their fault. I’m still getting used to them but I’m very happy. (I have an astigmatism in one eye that I didn’t know about and should probably have gotten glasses a decade ago.) The frames are totally cute and I really can see better with them. I really recommend them!
(One note, though: my insurance didn’t cover everything; they wouldn’t anywhere. And the frames that were covered by insurance were not adorable. From what I can tell, that is also true everywhere. If you are going to get glasses that you love, you probably are going to have to spend some money, especially if you have a complicated prescription.)

I’ve been meaning to write a review for awhile now. I bought a pair of glasses in November 2013 from Ultimate Spectacle. My experience was beyond excellent. My journey with the store started when I saw a cool pair of glasses in the window walking by one day. I finally made my way back, and they were sold out of the Celine frames I wanted to see. They said they will call me when they are back in stock. It had been over a month and no call so I thought they forgot about me, but then my phone rang! Yippee they were back in stock so back I went to try on the frames that I had seen in the window. I ended up walking out that day with a bold pair of modern frames. They were able to fit the lenses in right then and there. The best part of the experience is the people working seamed to be working as a team. They also gave honest feedback as I tried on a couple other pairs (I had to make sure I was making the right decisions). All around great experience and it wasn’t high pressure. They have a large selection of frames you don’t see in every shop. Very refreshing! I will be back!

Exhausted from a day of shopping, dining and walking, a girlfriend of mine and I walked into the Ultimate Spectacle on a late Friday afternoon in October. I was greeted by the finest looking salespeople… ever! Here I was, a tourist from Memphis, TN. — middle aged, tired and in desperate need of make-​up and I was treated as if I were someone special. Anne Marie came up to me as I came into the shop. She listened to my needs and wants and began immediately to find frames that would work for me. I tried on a variety of frames before finding the perfect frames, which were far more interesting and flattering than any previous glasses I have ever had. I had my current glasses with me and also my recent prescription that I had photographed and saved on my phone.
With this information Anne Marie handed me over to a man, perhaps an optician, who took all measurements. I was assured that glasses would be perfect in every way (I wear invisible trifocals) and I would have them within two weeks, delivered to my door step. Anne Marie in the meantime, took care of the business side of the transaction. Everything about this was seamless. Perfect! I was in and out of the shop in less than an hour and perhaps less than 45 minutes. That having been said, I was never rushed or pressured. They just knew what would work for me and was very familiar with their stock. My glasses arrived about two weeks later and I was thrilled! I have received more compliments on these glasses than imagined. I love them and so do my friends. Next time I’m in Manhattan, I will return! Thank you, Ultimate Spectacle!

Where has this store been all of my life? Seriously! I have been a glasses wearer for my entire life and have never had an easy time finding frames. Turns out I just didn’t have the right store/​people helping me until now! I stopped by ultimate spectacle the other night after work after reading all of the positive reviews below. I was hoping to find fun new sunglasses, but given my history with glasses shopping didn’t get my hopes up. Well, I quickly discovered that the reviews below could not be more accurate about this place. Not only did I struggle to choose from multiple great options, but, after narrowing down my choices, I couldnt just choose one and ended up leaving the store with 2 amazing and completely different frames!
The layout of the store itself could not be more customer-​friendly in its streamlined, bright and clean set up. The frames are set up by brand and within each respective section are displayed to show the customer all of the various colors and sizes to choose from. The sales people who helped me, Jaclyn and Mario, could not have been more friendly and HONEST! Jaclyn and Mario not only helped me find frames, but also were amazing in helping me narrow down my options. I was so impressed with their knowledge and ability to explain to me which frames my particular prescription would work well with versus not as well. I did not feel pressured or rushed at all during my shopping experience, even though I took quite some time to make my decision on which glasses to purchase.
Really, I am struggling to come up with anything negative to say about this place — but, if I had to, I’d say that my one qualm is that the store closes at 7pm, which makes it difficult for me, who tends to work later, to stop in. I guess I will just have to sneak out of work earlier in the future so that I can shop here again — it was well worth it!

An excellent selection and very friendly, knowledgeable staff lead to a great shopping experience. The fresh, minimalist design of the store itself is very nice as well! I definitely recommend this over Sunglass Hut as the salespeople were more helpful, yet did not pressure.

Ultimate Spectacles has raised the bar for where I shop for eyeglasses. The staff is friendly, nice & honest. They made me feel very comfortable. I left the store with 2 pairs of glass and plan on getting another pair. My sister also left with a pair of sunglasses. They have a large selection of great looking glasses. I would recommend Ultimate Spectacles to anyone who is looking for great glasses at a store that makes you feel very comfortable.

Nicely curated, big assortment of sunglasses. Ultimate Spectacle has many of the brands (Celine, Miu Miu, Thom Browne, Persol, RayBan, Dita, Oliver Peoples, etc.) carried by Barney’s, Bergdorf’s, and Jeffrey, but seems to have even more styles to try than other high end retailers. They have cool, younger or more rare brands that the aforementioned high end retailers often do not carry, such as Super, Westward Leaning, Mykita, Thierry Lasry, and Illesteva. The staff is friendly and honest.
Note that they do not accept returns, only store credit/​exchange.

I was desperately in need of a new pair of glasses and wanted fashion-​forward frames. I hard about Ultimate Spectacle from co-​workers (I work on Lex) so, I decided to try it out. Typically, I don’t warrant help from sales associates however, I was seeking an outside opinion because there were so many frames to pick from. The sales woman named Nelli was a HUGE help. Not only did she provide genuine feedback on the frames that worked best for my face/​personality, she picked out several frames that I would normally not want to try on (one of which I bought!) and opened up my options. I walked out with one pair but, still think about going back for another — they are accessories after all!
To make this place even better, they have a doctor on site for eye-​exams which was also due for. I highly recommend stopping in and hope you leave as satisfied as I did.

I went to Ultimate Spectacle planning to buy 1 new pair of glasses. I ended up leaving with 2 new pairs and an eye exam! The staff here was incredibly friendly and honest about what looked good and what didn’t work so well with my facial features. They are extremely knowledgeable and willing to work with you to find the perfect fit (or 2)! I wasn’t sure what my prescription was, so I ended up getting an eye exam. The doctor on staff was not as bubbly as the women in front, but did a great job and gave me a thorough exam. Like I mentioned, the women in front were super bubbly and made me feel comfortable as they had me trying on different styles and colors and let me know what looked good and stylish while not making me feel judged when a pair didn’t look good on me. The selection they had on site was huge, and for any styles that came in different colors they didn’t have on site they will order for you! I definitely will be coming back for future glasses needs and would very highly recommend this place!
