This school is headed by Master William Kwok (郭威賢), an internationally recognized martial arts teacher. This is a professional martial art school in a permanent ~1750 sq ft facility.

We follow Grandmaster WAN Kam Leung’s Practical Wing Chun system. Practical Wing Chun (實用詠春拳) is a system evolved and developed by Grandmaster WAN Kam Leung based on the traditional Wing Chun he studied for many years and the many fights he had while progressing in his martial art. He felt a need to improve a system whose forms where invented hundred years ago and passed along mostly through word of mouth. Some of the techniques may have become obsolete, and some methods of training may have become outdated. Moreover, modern understanding of the human body can also be different compared to concepts developed several hundred years ago. He accurately tested and modified a system already efficient to make it a practical and modern combat system.

A President’s Council Award winner, a Harvard grad, and a well known new-​generation Wing Chun master, Master William Kwok (郭威賢) was raised in Hong Kong and began martial arts training since 7 years old. He is Practical Wing Chun Kung Fu founder Grandmaster WAN Kam Leung’s first Closed Door Disciple that has both completed the martial art system and taught professionally outside of Hong Kong. He is also the first Regional Director and official instructor of Wan Kam Leung Practical Wing Chun Kung Fu in America.

Master Kwok established his martial arts school, Gotham Martial Arts (紐約武術學院), in 2007. His goal is to develop better individuals to serve the New York community and provide precise and attainable instruction where more people would benefit from the mind and body integration for which martial arts training is well-​respected. Master Kwok’s contributions to Wing Chun Kung Fu and the traditional martial arts culture have been well recognized and respected. Master Kwok has also been
