History

Established in 1937.

From a very basic hardware store, the business expanded into major appliances in the 1940’s. In 1962 we joined the True Value buying group which is the largest wholesaler in the world. In 1972, a new store of 30,000 sq. ft. was opened in a shopping center at its present location east of town.

In 1996, Longenecker’s expanded its selection of products and services to include renting equipment and party items and the Just Ask Rental program became part of Longenecker’s product and service mix. The small town hardware store has grown into a large, well respected competitive hardware and appliance business with many varied departments. We believe wholeheartedly that we are more than just a hardware store!
