History

Established in 1975.

Dr. William Abraham Bell built Briarhurst Manor as a home for his family here in Manitou Springs at the base of Pikes Peak. He was the business partner and friend of General William Palmer, and the Vice President of any businesses Palmer was president of, most notably the Denver Rio Grande Railroad The home caught fire in January 1886 and burned to the ground. It was rebuilt by the Bell’s who also lived in England and had property in New York City as well.
