I love this YMCA. I spend 99% of my gym time in the cardio room, so I don’t have many opinions about the weights«room.» The cadio room is always clean and because this Y is not as busy, there are always available cardio machines when I go.(I do not go during the after work rush so I can’t speak to that.) Machines are rarely out of order; they do a great job keeping up on maintenance. Staff is always so friendly(nice small community feel) and the free coffee in the mornings are always a nice«reward» after my workout.

I go to this gym because of location. It is 4 miles from my house. Cleanliness: I use the weight room most of the time. Lots of old cobwebs and dust balls around. Value: poor. Individual memberships are $ 50 and going up. That is much more than other gyms. Equipment: No dedicated equipment. They do not have a flat bench, incline bench, shoulder press rack, upright bench, and lots of other basic equipment. They have 3 power racks and you have to adjust it to tailor around what excercise you want to perform. It takes time. Overall: It’s ok. I would have no complaints if I was paying $ 20/month because that is what it is worth.

The Manlius Y has what you’d expect at a small YMCA, with bursts of Tennis courts, wide Yoga choices, and a really cool Athletic performance center. They also have some of the nicest sets of Free and Olympic weights I have ever seen at a Y. Kettlebells, too. -=- I’ve been attending more of the Yoga classes at Manlius YMCA, and I’ve found it challenging, inspiring, and useful. - Yoga for Athletic Performance Designed to enhance athletic performance and everyday agility by balancing body alignment. Imbalanced muscles and poor posture lead to uneven forces on bones and joints, which can result in muscle, tendon, cartilage, or ligament damage. This class is designed to facilitate balanced body alignment for full range of motion and energy return. Breath-work(Pranayama) and poses(Asanas) will be taught from a foundational level that will enhance deeper opening to improve posture and build balanced strength.
