History

Established in 1982.

In 1978, The chimney sweep industry was reborn. Black Velvet Chimney Sweeps came from Texas in 1982. Founded by Michael Ratliff, we believe he had it until 1985 when we believe it was sold to John Panarelli. Mr, Panarelli was an Air Force pilot until he was discharged from the military. We are not 100% sure on the history.

After this, he purchased Black Velvet Chimney Sweeps which is now based in Lubbock, Tx. In 1987, Pete Pohlman lived in another town running chimney sweep business. He was looking to add a disturbing arm of his company selling chimney sweep supplies.

After a brief conversation with John, he found out that Mr. Panarelli wanted to sell the business. Having seen his van around lubbock, he already knew about Black Velvet Chimney. In June of 1987, Mr. Pohlman with help from His parents Bill and Cathy Pohlman and Grandmother, Catherine Johnson purchased the Company.
