Josh S.

Business Owner

Dr. Josh Sandell, DC, DACBSP, ATC, CSCS is owner and director of Spine & Sports Institute. He is a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic who graduated from Northwestern Health Sciences University in 2001. He attended undergraduate school at University of Minnesota Duluth and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Exercise Physiology and Human Biology. Dr. Sandell earned his diplomate in Sports Medicine from the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians (ACBSP) and now currently serves as a chair member for the ACBSP. In addition, Dr. Sandell is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He was a credentialed Active Release Technique® (ART) practitioner and is trained in several other soft tissue mobilization techniques, including the development of a specialized soft tissue mobilization technique that is patent pending. I have been going to Spine & Sports Institute for over four years now. The chiropractors there are the most comprehensive sports medicine specialists I have ever been to. They get quick and effective results and don’t require you to come in for weeks or months for treatment like other chiropractors sometimes do. I would highly recommend any of the DC’s there. I have been treated by them all at some point over the years. I send my family and friends here as well anytime they have any type of injury or pain. They treat so much more than just athletes and the spine! Treatment at Spine & Sports Institute is well worth the trip to Maple Grove from the cities if you want fast results from a professional and caring staff!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Josh Sandell and his staff of chiropractic doctors.
I grew up in a family of non-​believers — of chiropractic care, that is — so it was a big step for me to head in for my first appointment. Unfortunately, when I did, it was to an inferior clinic which did nothing to alleviate my headaches in 6 weeks.
Somehow I got talked into trying another chiropractor — Dr. Sandell — and after 2 TREATMENTS he’d alleviated the majority of my headache issues! Of course, my neck was a mess from years of stress, so I had to go for several treatments and start some stretches, get a new pillow, etc.
I rarely have problems with headaches anymore. I do still go to Spine & Sports for my IT band and lower back (both chronic) issues but if I were a good patient and did my exercises, I wouldn’t have to make appointments, they’re that good!
They’re sports-​medicine oriented, so the majority of their work with patients revolves around soft tissue mobilization. This can include transverse friction massage, active release technique and myofascial release. They also provide stretching, joint mobilization, therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, taping, etc), rehabilitation and of course manipulation.
If you’re not a believer of chiropractic care but you have aches/​pains/​muscle problems that just won’t go away, go see Dr. Josh or one of his colleagues at Spine & Sports Institute to feel better!
