I like the more upscale vibe in this OPH. It’s much«classier» than your average greasy-spoon diner, but the prices are still reasonable for what you get. Especially since the food is fresh, high-quality, cooked to perfection, and not greasy like a typical diner. The orange juice is fresh-squeezed and delicious. I also love the oatmeal with fruit. It’s hearty and comes with cream and brown sugar, and if you ask for a side of fruit you get perfectly ripe fresh berries, not soggy melon slices like you’d get at most restaurants. Their bacon is thick-cut and heavenly. And you can’t go wrong with any of their pancakes.(I like the strawberry pancakes, potato pancakes, and Swedish pancakes.) To make a long story short, when it comes to breakfast, OPH does everything right. It can be crowded at times — particularly on Sunday afternoons — so call ahead to see how long the wait will be and put your name on the list.

Obviously, I love brunch. Like if you could make me queen for a day, everyone in the kingdom would eat brunch for all three meals. OPH is one of those places I go when I need to seriously scratch the brunch itch. It’s like brunch extreme, where every dish comes with a side of pancakes and I actually cut my entrée in half when it come to the table because that’s how big the portions are. Pretty much heaven. We had never been to this location before and I have to say it might be my favorite. Most of my complaints from previous dining experiences at other OPH locations were not present here. First, they offer call ahead seating. Call the restaurant, tell them how many in your party and they give you a time. Show up and check in with the hostess and totally avoid the hour-long wait. Hallelujah. Second the coffee here does not suck. I hate the coffee at other OPHes. And they have normal mugs instead of the weird ones that look like little urns with a narrow opening at the top. I got the Cowboy omelet which is just sinful — full four egg(FOUREGG!) omelet with sausage and ham and cheddar cheese doused in that white sausage gravy they use for chicken fried steak. For another $ 1.50 you can get it served on a bed of hashbrows. But I skipped that because clearly self control is my forte. Oh, and yeah, served with buttermilk pancakes. God I love brunch. That is all.

The Original Pancake Housing is your standard pancake house with a great selection of options. OPH is definitely a step up from your standard IHOP or Perkins. Great quality food and a clean, cozy eating atmosphere. Our waiter was friendly and was able to give solid recommendations for everyone, including a gluten-free option for mom which looked delicious. Mom went for the gluten-free strawberry crêpe and I chose the Georgia pecan pancakes. No one was disappointed with their plates at the table. This breakfast restaurant is a great option for anyone staying at the Hilton Garden Inn as it’s only a quick stroll across the parking lot. I noticed the bathroom floors to be a little soapy/slick, but other than that the bathrooms were also very clean. The Weather Channel like music in the background will help with the comfort as you enjoy your delicious breakfast. 6÷5÷16: We decided to come back for breakfast a second day in a row. This time, we had the ability to eat outside and enjoy some sunshine! If you’re not interested in too much pancake action, be sure to check out the menu flap that has several omelette and two-egg breakfast options.

Good quality breakfast food. The sourdough pancakes and thick-sliced bacon are my go-to. Make sure to call ahead! There’s always a long wait.

It’s worth the wait. On Sundays, I crawl out of bed, still in my pjs, drive an hour, wait 20 minutes and sip coffee while I wait, then get seated and 20 minutes later my food is hot and fresh from the oven and on the table. Large portions. Every thing on the menu is delicious. I have not been disappointed yet and I’ve been eating here frequently for three years.

Super good service. This place is always busy but worth waiting for the table. The service was cool and the staff was very friendly. The sever helped us decide our meal, because we were here for the first time and everything was fabulous. The restaurant had very good ambiance, wanted to stay a little longer but we knew people were waiting for tables. Little pricey but worth every penny.

Good food and great service as usual. I always enjoy coming here. The portions are huge, and you must try the Dutch Pancake.

Took my niece and nephew here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. There was a little bit of a wait but not too bad. We were seated after a 20 – 30 min wait. Our food came out pretty fast. Services was nice and friendly food was good. We will ba back to try all the other good items on the menu.

There was a bit of a wait on a Friday morning, but well worth the wait. We received fantastic service throughout, and our server helped me customize a short stack to my liking– pecan pancakes with bananas, pecans, caramel glaze, and whipped cream. OHMY!!! I left very happy!

Wow! First time eating here and it was eggsalent. Short stack of regular pancakes, eggs, sausage — everything was great. Around 9:00am on a Thursday– no waiting, fast service — great waiter.

I stopped in for breakfast on a cold morning and was not disappointed. Initially overwhelmed by all the delicious choices, my server was patient and provided good suggestions when I mentioned it was my first time here. My sunny side up eggs and corned beef hash were perfectly constructed and a good sized portion. A nice side of buttermilk pancakes were included. There is ample room in the parking lot and free WiFi. Coffee flows bottomless from beautiful mugs. But the absolute best surprise was when my server brought out this beautiful Raspberry crêpe creation. «Since it’s your first time here, I ordered you my favorite thing on the menu. I hope you like it.» Amazing, what kindness can do. Thank you, Angela B., for being so thoughtful and for keeping my coffee full. Your kindness this morning gave me the courage to face a huge day today.

My family has been visiting this Original Pancake House on and off for years and have always experienced wonderful service to go along with the delicious food(peanut butter pancakes– yum). Today at the end of a chaotic breakfast for 12 that included 4 noisy kiddos, my 9-year old niece had a seizure. Not only did the staff move quickly and quietly to get my sister and niece to a comfortable and private space, they also found a doctor in the restaurant should we need further medical assistance. Then they were exceedingly cool as we continued to take up a 12-top table during their busiest time of day. Seizures are fairly routine for my niece and she recovered quickly, enjoying the wonderful send-off of well wishes from the staff! Always knew they had the food and the service, but they’ve also got heart.

The Original Pancake House, a slightly fancier Perkins with prices that are 20−30% higher. The interior is pretty nice, the service was good, but the food is simply ok. It was nothing spectacular and certainly didn’t justify what I would consider a hefty markup for what it is. You could easily go to a place like Fat Nat’s and have the same meal and save your self some $$ without the fancified interior. The Swedish pancakes I had were great and the eggs benedict was way too heavy handed on the hollandaise(also had a freaky color to it that resembled American cheese). Fortunately, the eggs were poached well and overall it was a decent meal. Not sure however paying $ 20.00 for a short stack(2 paper thin crepes) and eggs benedict + hash browns was worth the price of admission. Final note, I was here on a weekday afternoon and it looked like the average age of the clientele was about half way to dead. Practically everyone was in their 50 – 60’s and I felt way out of place. I guess that’s what happens when you’re out in the burbs on a weekday…

I didn’t realize there was an OPH in Maple Grove but I have to say I love this location. The menu is a little different then the other TC locations but seemed to have all the same items and the interior of the restaurant is great — it doesn’t have the packed in feeling of Edina and is more upscale than all the others. Now to the important stuff… the food. In short, it was great and it was fast. I’m always torn when I order — I love the Apple Pancakes — huge, full of apples, cinnamon and sugar but I wasn’t in the mood for something that sweet today. The Dutch German Pancakes are also amazing. But today I had to go with the 49er pancakes. As usual, they were light and tasty and, when smothered in their amazing syrup, were exactly what I needed. As always one of my favorite parts of the meal at OPH is the bacon — thick cut and made crisp(but not burnt) just as I ordered. And the eggs were a perfect over-medium. To top it all off was a cold glass of fresh squeezed orange juice and a cup of really great coffee — they must use a different coffee than the other locations too. I don’t care for the java at the other locations. What really amazed me, though, was the breakfast sandwich that my daughter ordered. It was HUGE. A pile of thinly cut and incredibly tasty ham, a pile of eggs and oozing with cheese. It looked and tasted amazing. Did I mention it was huge? The food and the restaurant were great but what sealed the 5th star was the service. Our waitress was quick, efficient and very friendly. Some of the servers in other locations always seem like they are trying to hurry you through every step. Not here. Great breakfast!!!

Awesome. I think The Original Pancake House might now be my favorite breakfast spot! Pumpkin Pancakes– awesome, with a great pumpkiny flavor. Santa Fe Omelette — Quite possibly the best omelette I have had at a restaurant. Huge, fluffy, fresh, flavorful, filling. I loved it! Peanut Butter Pancakes– Very good. Fresh Strawberry Crêpes– Very good. Buttermilk Pancakes– Quite good, nice flavor and consistency. 49 Flapjacks– Good Hot Chocolate– Good, with great mugs! Clean restaurant, big and comfortable booths, good service, usually very busy.

I have been to this place quite a few times for their pancakes. I have always taken their food to go, but I have never dined in before. I have almost always have good service from this place. The pancakes are delicious. The cooks do a fantastic job at cooking everything. The pancakes are always given to me hot and fresh. I love that I can order at the front desk, and they start cooking them right away(or so it seems). I usually do not have to wait any longer than 15 minutes(that is on a busy day). My favorite pancakes there are the strawberry ones. I usually do not like fruit on my pancakes, but this place manages to get it right(I tried the strawberries because of a friend’s recommendation). The employees there are friendly and helpful. I have met one of the managers, and he is friendly too. They appear to do their jobs well. They also appear to do a great job at keeping everything organized and clean. My only complaint is that sometimes, the bathrooms can be a little messy. Other than that, they appear to be on top of things. I do not get to that area much, except for work. When I do, I will continue to keep this place in mind when I am in the mood for some good pancakes.

Summary: — very solid pancakes — busy; expect a wait — friendly service — I always viewed pancakes as one of those dishes that are all at the same level. After all, isn’t it just some pancake mix? In the hierarchy of pancake goodness, I would say The Original Pancake House is above average. The restaurant was packed on a random Thursday morning for a reason. The service was decently fast and Midwestern friendly. I ordered the peanut butter pancakes and it came on a pretty presentation topped with peanut butter chips. The flavor was pretty sweet, not requiring the variety of syrups available. The pancakes were piping hot and fluffy. Unfortunately, I’ve had outstanding pancakes and on the grand scheme of things, this was pretty good. The food didn’t completely wow me but I would eat it again. It’s definitely a class above it’s peers in the area, including IHOP, Perkins, or Denny’s.

Weather is great today! Lots of sunshine! Waking up craving for pancakes! My first time here. So many people on the weekends! Long wait! Almost 50+ mins. My recommendation is to make reservation ahead of time! The place is warm! Feels like eating at home. Many different styles of Pancakes on the menu. Want to try them all! Their orange juice«IS» fresh squeezed as indicated in the menu. I say that because other restaurant has same menu but their orange juice is never fresh squeezed!

I love breakfast food and this place truly satisfies. I have had several of the dishes and none of them disappointed. For one they treat bacon the way it deserves to be treated. I hate when I order bacon and it is limp and fatty, here it is thick and firm(but not too crispy) and full of flavor. The pancakes are small but awesome, I recommend the peanut butter ones. Finally, the reason this place became a favorite, they have a giant omelette that they stuff with meat and cheese and Top with sausage gravy! Because how do make an omelette even better? Gravy! Delicious Gluttony! It can end up being a little pricey for breakfast but the portions are generous so to me it justifies the price. My one complaint, and the reason we aren’t here every weekend, is the wait. You will face a 45 minute wait any weekend. If you try to call ahead as they recommend I have never been told less than 90 minutes. If you are like me it takes so long to decided where to eat that by the time you do, the last thing you want to do is wait another 45 – 90 minutes for breakfast. I wish they could come up with a better system, doing away with the call ahead might actually improve things.

Love this place — everything I’ve had is YUMMY. If you plan on going for brunch on the weekend, be sure to get a reservation! You’ll probably be waiting a very, very long time otherwise. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried here, but most recently felt I could die and go to heaven while trying their new lemon-ricotta pancakes with blueberry sauce — ahh, mouth watering just thinking about it! I’ve also love a few of their omelettes. Yum. We’ve gone a few times at this point, and will continue to go back! Looking forward to our next brunch date here =)(I’ll definitely be ordering the lemon-ricotta pancakes again!).
