Maplewood Theater

Dallas Buyers Club, first time at this theater and it was just OK! Movie was excellent!

Mice! Twice! Please exterminate. great movies and would love to be able to enjoy. Can’t go back ’til it’s remedied!

If you seek Amy… this is the place. I came here with 2 girlfriends after a super early dinner to watch Amy. It’s a really charming theater with blue walls, hot popcorn poppin, and mega-​friendly staff. Inside looks like a little bit of a maze but everything’s labeled with signs. We attended a 5:30pm showing on a Wednesday and besides us, only one other person joined in the fun. I’d definitely watch other movies here with the same folks and my chummy coworkers. There are lots of dinner options nearby.

Went here on a groupon deal. It was a nice experience. I liked the fact that it was an older theater because it has character and beauty even if it’s in need of a little update.
What I didn’t like… on our way out, an older woman, who I presume to be the manager, was scolding two of the workers in the walkway as one walks in or out. She did this as people were leaving a movie, as if she was purposefully trying to embarrass them. This bothered my friend and I; We even talked about it when we got outside. It was a little too much. Take your workers in the back if you want to reprimand them, not flex your muscles in front of guests. It’s not pleasant for the workers or the customers.

First time at Maplewood theater and nothing bad to say at all.
The theater: quaint little theater located in a beautiful small downtown area which is populated with restaurants, fish markets, hang out areas and cozy cafés. Not your average theater but the screen was good quality and the seats comfortable. Theater number 3 was very clean and My company and I really enjoyed our movie (Adeline).
The staff and concession stand: the two gentlemen at the front were super polite and helpful. We got two popcorns and soda and some candy, they were all fine. The guys were very polite and welcoming and even offered to tell us a little bit about the theater itself.
Why not 5 stars for me?: I just wish they had more «recent/​updated» films. Other then that I would def. comeback. Actually, I plan a visit as soon as a movie I would like to see pops up.

This is one of the worst movie theaters that exist. This needs a major overhaul from top to bottom. 15 years ago you could come to this theater with no problems. Usually it was couples & groups of friends that went. Things were simple and considerate. Lately, the crowds are mixed from screaming, unsupervised teenagers to couples and families. One experience was so bad due to the crowd screaming out at the movie and loud comments made by those watching I had to leave. I wasn’t even offered my money after complaining twice to management. The manager came in twice heard the yelling that took place and made no effort to stop it. I was t even vouchers for another movieafter seeing 30 minutes of a film. The staff could care less, are young themselves, and the refreshments are disgusting and old. Had the soda machine ever been cleaned? I vowed to never go back. Do yourself the favor & go out of town! Disgraceful!!!

Sorry, the worst movie viewing experience anywhere. Obstructive views guaranteed, as well as a sore neck from looking up for 2 hours. Particularly stay away from theater #5 and #6 at all costs.

We love to support local theaters, but this one is in need of a complete overhaul. The individual screening rooms (and screens) are tiny, dated and uncomfortable. It’s a rare occasion when in-​home viewing is a better experience than a theater. Unfortunately, that is the case here. And bad popcorn. :(. The only upside is that they play indie flicks, but driving 15 mins to the next town gives you a better experience all around. A real bummer as Maplewood is a great small town.

Do you like mice running across your feet as you try to enjoy a film? Neither does my girlfriend. Last night Master Splinter, Ben and the cast of Ratatouille decided to reveal themselves during the middle of the film. When this was brought to the attention of the staff, their reaction was not one of surprise but the complete opposite. She wasnt even comfortable in that theater to stay long enough to get her refund!

Went to the movies here tonight. First time in years. It was a good experience. Clean, pleasant theatre.

A cute, little movie theater in Maplewood Village. If you are looking to have a quiet, movie watching experience (no chit chat during the feature, no kids acting a fool, etc.), then going to this theater is a good option for you. The staff are friendly and don’t have attitudes (like they don’t look perturbed when you give them your movie ticket or order popcorn — you know you’ve encountered this before at the movies). It’s not my favorite movie house, but it’s nice to go see a flick here now and then. Check it out.

The Maplewood Theater… what can I say about this place… mmh…IT SUCKS!!! I mean they don’t play certain movies and the place is just so small and can be dirty at times! I even heard once they had mice… just walk away and go over to the next town to SOPAC!

Maplewood, NJ is such a cute town. This place is an old small private movie theater that makes you feel as if you are living in a memory. The spaces are small with rather small screen and limited seatings. It feels very cozy. The small consession stand is equipped with friendly staffs and all the basics you need. No frills. If you hate going to the big theaters, this place will be your best friend.
Movie selections are not extensive, however I can always find what I want to see: Marie Antoinette (l love Sophia Coppola), Paris j’taime (very lovely)…
Recommend for intimate date.
