Johnson Ferry Dentistry and Orthodontics

I had a similar experience to Cheryl R. We were looking for a dentist closer to our home. My first appointment was supposed to be for an exam and cleaning. The staff was very pleasant as well as Dr Patel. I was told that my insurance was accepted to include the X-​rays taken that day. This was not the case. The X-​rays were in excess of $ 600! Dr Patel examined my teeth and advised me that I had a few problem areas that needed to be addressed. One issue was that there is a cavity below a filling which would need a crown in addition to another tooth that needed a crown because the tooth had a small chip in it and would eventually have a cavity. I had no pain or issues with either tooth. The upcharge would be $ 1500 — $ 5000 depending on the quality of the crown outside of what insurance would cover. At the time of the visit, I agreed to have one of the two repaired. I also was told that I needed a «deep cleaning» because I have an «infection» which would be an additional up charge of $ 200. No antibiotic prescription was offered to treat my «infection», only the deep cleaning. I agreed to that also at the time of the exam and was rescheduled for another visit in one month. Leaving the «infection» untreated for an entire month.
My son was treated several days later and was told he also needed a «deep cleaning» and told it would cost $ 300 extra which his insurance would not cover. He did not agree to the upcharge and they cleaned his teeth fine at the time of the visit. No rescheduling necessary. My daughter had an upcoming appointment scheduled as well for an exam and cleaning.
I decided not to proceed with the crown since I did not have issues with the the teeth they wanted to put the crowns on and I also wanted to stick with my usual 6 month cleaning that was covered by my insurance, not the «deep cleaning» as suggested for an extra $ 200. I called the office to inform them that I wanted to cancel the crown and stick with the cleaning covered by my insurance and was told they would not do that. I was told that since the «deep cleaning» was suggested, it was all that would be offered no other options. Realizing that this office is a scam, I immediately cancelled my appointment and appointments for my children. They were quickly agreeable to cancel the appointments.
I work in the healthcare industry and know very well this is not the issue and was a bit skeptical at the visit. My son’s visit confirmed my suspicions. I cannot believe that this office is selling procedures and up charging patients that don’t need them, stating that they may need them in the future or fear of worsening «infection» without offering an antibiotic or fear for needing a «root canal» as I was told. I might need a kidney transplant someday too, doesn’t mean I should have it today just because you can do it.
It is clear that they are not interested in providing services for simply what is covered by insurance and need to find other ways to produce income. If I need these procedures in the future, there is no problem with my ability to pay an upcharge and would have gone back had this office not try to scam me. I intend on informing my insurance company of their business tactics in hopes that future patients will not be exploited.

I don’t usually leave reviews, I just move on however I felt that this review was warranted. I thought that I found my new dental home after my initial visit. I was wrong. I had a cleaning and x-​rays and ordered a night guard all of which went well. The dentist looked at my x-​rays and indicated that I had a dark mass inside my gums which was an infection and I needed a root canal and new crown from their Endodontist. I received the price for the procedure and crown. I made my appointment for later in the week to have this taken care of. However I moved the appointment back due to finances and my ability to pay the remaining balance of a $ 1,000 out of pocket. I called the dentist office and asked if a prescription could be written for an antibiotic until I was able to come back to the office for the root canal. If it were an infection, I surely didn’t want it to spread. The answer was «No» because the tooth was not bothering me. Strange. When my night guard was ready for pick up, I was told that I had two appointments. One for the root canal and the second appointment for 4 tooth extractions. I was surprised because the 4 tooth extractions were never discussed with me and the estimate that I received from the dentist’s office didn’t indicate anything about this. My insurance provider was not notified of the extractions by the dental office. I was also told that I had a cavity, again this was new to me. I received an appointment card for one day and the day of the root canal and crown. I tried to explain that I was only scheduled for the root canal and crown, however this fell on deaf ears. I believe that the office got me mixed up with another patient which is very scary. My night guard hurts a tooth and needs to be adjusted, however after all this my trust in their abilities is gone. I canceled my appointment and will go somewhere else.

Office staff is incredibly difficult to deal with and unresponsive to billing issues.

I am a BIG BIG BIG chicken when it comes to the dentist. I didn’t go for a long time = I needed a lot of work done. I had just settled in with a great dentist in Colorado when we had to move to Atlanta, so I was in the process of a treatment plan. I was really surprised when Dr. Patel came out to the lobby to call me back. It was nice to be able to meet her and talk while still upright! She confirmed a couple of things that my previous dentist had found, and there were a couple of things that she said didn’t need to be done right now — and showed my why. Hooray! She was very understanding of my chicken-​ry and completely reassuring through the whole process. I still don’t like dental work, but my last two dentists have really helped me get back on track. I’ll be sticking with Dr. Patel until our next move.

Your office deserves more than 5 stars. The professionalism by each and every member of the staff was not only amazing but refreshing. In all my years of going to a dentist, I have never been treated with as much courtesy, respect and professionalism as I received from your staff. Thank you Thank you

Just had an appointment and it was the most pleasant dentist visit I have ever had!!! Very knowledgeable and friendly doctor and staff!

Could not even get an appointment booked with these guys. Tried TWO times to make an appointment via the website — got a confirmation email saying «we will contact you to schedule an appointment,» but they never followed up. Messaged them and left voice mail; no response. Been a month and still haven’t heard from them.
Waste of my time. Made appointment elsewhere.

I have had a lot, and I mean a lot of dental work done over the years, so I do have a slight fear of the dentist. My family is new to the area, and we were on the hunt for a new dentist. My husband went last month, and he was very pleased with their work, so I made an appointment yesterday and was seen today. The office is extremely nice, the staff is very friendly! Marcus and Dr. Patel put my initial fears to rest with their friendly nature! They benefits consultant came in and advised me of the costs of having the one last tooth that needs major work done on it, and I was surprised that it was not going to break the bank! I would highly recommend Johnson Ferry Dentistry to others, especially those who have had a fear of the dentist office in the past! Great office hours too!

About six months ago I cracked my rear right molar I’ve been in extraordinary pain for months. I’d contacted many dental offices all telling me I needed financing that they wouldn’t do anything except for a root canal.
It took me 5 minutes to explain my situation. Even less time for them to explain their cost. Fantastic Pricing. Of course they try to talk me into getting a root canal. but when I told them «no, pull it» they understood and did it with no hesitation. Most dentist would argue up and down not to pull it. They were very respectful to my decision. I will be going back and recommending them to everyone that I can. THANK YOU. You guys rock.

The office is nice, with up-​to-​date technology and all of the staff are friendly, accommodating, and extremely professional.
I went in to have a regular cleaning and have my filling fixed that a previous dentist messed up and refused to fix without getting more money from me first. Dr. Patel fixed my problem within 2 minutes flat!
So happy that i was referred to this office and I plan to refer them to anybody that asks who’s the best dentist in town.

I haven’t been to the dentist in over a year, mostly due to poor past experiences. I cracked a tooth and within two days of calling as a new patient, I had an appointment. As soon as I walked into the office, I felt comfortable there. Everyone was so nice and genuine. Dr. Patel is great at her job and you can tell she loves her work. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I scheduled my appointment, being an anxious and nervous dental patient, everyone worked to make me feel comfortable so my procedure was much easier than I expected. I am so happy I found this office and so grateful I walked out within 3 hours with a perfect tooth. Thank you Dr Patel.

I blame no one but myself…
My last dental cleaning was March of 2012. I was growing incredibly dissatisfied with my current dentist, and on the day of my last cleaning, I figured it was time to find a new dentist.
But I waited… a bit too long…
It was always in the back of my head that I needed to go to the dentist, but be it laziness, or general fear of the dental industry, I constantly put it off.
I took a look at my teeth in the mirror one day and saw nothing but discolor staring back at me. I knew then, I was waiting too long, and needed to make my way to the dentist.
As a resident of Marietta, I had seen Johnson Ferry Dentistry move into Pine Straw Place, also known as «The Place Where Trader Joes is» So I decided to make an appointment.
I am absolutely glad I did! I got to meet Dr. David Kemp, who was really attentive to my needs, I told him what my concerns were with my teeth, and he paid proper attention to what I was concerned with.
His Hygienist Kendra, is an absolute miracle worker. Due to my neglect of my chompers, my bottom row had taken on terrible discoloration, but the masterful scraping of Kendra had restored them to a respectable whiteness.
I am incredibly happy I decided to invest my time and my health with Johnson Ferry Dentistry, I hope many of you do too.
