It doesn’t get any better than this! Hey, can I move in there? This is one of the best kept secrets in town! They have it all — but don’t go unless you have several hours(days really) to look at all the magnificent fabric, tucked in every little nook and cranny they can possibly find. I don’t think I have ever(in my 60 ++) years found a store so inviting and interesting. The building itself is an historic hosiery mill and lends to the atmosphere of quaint spaces, yet a current fabric assortment. Need I say I love, love, LOVE, this place. Oh, and yes, the ever so informative ladies that work there, along with the owner, are, well, just like going home to grandma’s house for an old fashioned quilt in! They are knowledgeable, full of humor, and lots of southern charm. Don’t call me at home cause I’ll be there!

Old school small fabric store. I could spend hours there but that’s addiction to Arts and Crafts. The décor gave it a small country general store feel to it. Around the store were old Singer sewing machines of all sizes throughout the store. The standout piece was the quilt done by the owner and won best in show in the quilt show. The quilt was of a dragon influenced by Asian style art and very detailed. The lady told me to check out the back and wow. Glitter and sparkles got my attention. Sad that quilting is a fading art form. Browsing through I’ve found a few materials I want to use for costumes and for a yakata I’m planning on making over the summer. There’s not a wide range of materials to choose from but make it up for the type of materials and patterns they have available. I will be back. FYI they do offer quilting classes but its an advanced class, no beginner classes.

Sewin with the REDHEN Who doesn’t enjoy something homemade! Well maybe NOT your normal everyday clothes but then again if you know someone that actually knew how to sew this might be the place for you to come pick out some fabric. When I was in high school my mom made all my dresses for home coming, spring fling, and 3 proms I went to. Yes I went to 3 proms! I started in the 10th grade and went to prom with a friend of my moms son whose girlfriends prom was the same night. It was a blast! Then he took me home right after! No cookies for him! LOL!!! My next prom was this little troll guy I was sort of seeing but NOT anyway it was his prom so I wanted to go! In fact it was at the same all boys Catholic school! I didn’t like him enough to give it up so NO home run for him either! LOL! My last prom and the last dress my mom made until years later was for my prom! I broke up with my boyfriend at the time and went with a guy my friend set me up with but I didn’t know him and his mom was a bit cray-cray thus he didn’t get to the finish line either! LOL! Anyway enough about my no-sex life back then… My mom would make all my dresses! She can sew her AZZ off! The only problem is she likes to get several fittings because I was bound to lose weight and then gain it again so she wanted it to fit well! This place ROCKS! They have everything you would need and they have classes for different things. I’m not sure if the classes are for beginners or not I didn’t look into it as I was just looking around to pass the time and maybe find some fabric to make my dogs back home little Christmas shirts to take pictures with Santa Clause in! Maybe a matching muzzle in case they decide they don’t like him and try to bite off his hand or something! LOL That is actually not funny as my little ruff ruffs could end up spending Christmas behind bars! But they are not too bad since I had them in training at Petco(see review) At any rate this place has just about everything you would need! I am no expert sewer and probably would just stick with making curtains since you really can;t go wrong sewing in a straight line! I am NO Donna Karen for sure! The sold a lot of multi-color fabrics. I think for making quilts and things of that nature! That is way over my head and waaayy too many little pieces! But if you’re into that sort of thing THISISFORSUREYOURPLACE! The staff was REALLYHELPFULANDFRIENDLY! They showed me around and added on extra SOUTHERNCHARM! For all I know they could be from New York I have no idea but they were nice! If you’re thinking about making something this is your place!

I love the options that Red Hen has. It varies from the other fabric stores around. Prices are comparable, I just can’t find the same types of prints any where else though. It is also convienent when I am on my way home feom visiting my husband for lunch. I just swing in on my way home and see what new things they have.

Adorable store, quite big with an extensive selection of all sorts of fabrics and super-nice personnel. I could browse all day. They offer classes on regular sewing machines as well as the monster-size machine quilting machines… I could stay all day and learn. Love it; wish I had more time to shop there and to quilt.

Wow! Not only are the ladies who work here my new best friends, the store is like my mecca. I save and save because every time I go in I find so many treasures that I could stay there for days! Seriously, i now have so much fabric that i can only spend a set amount each time I go there. I got a 4th mortgage to pay for my fabric habit at this place(before my intervention). Most of the fabrics are 100% cottons for quilting and that seems to be their main focus but maybe I am biased since that’s my main hobby and what else would you possibly make with fabric? MAJORPRO!: They have a long-arm quilt machine you can RENT! No you can’t bring it home, but if you take the lesson you can rent time on it to work some magic on your very own quilt. Of course if you are not into that they can quilt it for you(for a fee). DEFinitely check this place out!
