Bruffy’s Del Rey Tow – Glencoe

You can’t take payment at the same place I pick up the car? And you can’t take payment over the phone or web? And I have to ask my friend to give me a ride to a second location a half hour (LA traffic) away? Seriously? I’m already upset for having my car towed and you have to twist the knife? The only reason you’re getting a second star is because the individuals at the location were nice and helpful… but as a business… fix your damn payment model.

The drivers for this company are dangerous to everyone around them. I’ve seen them tailgating, darting in and out of traffic (with and without tow cars), changing lanes in the middle of the intersection and cutting other cars off with zero warning. They don’t use turn signals, they don’t obey any speed limit, will drive in oncoming lanes if they want and generally don’t care about anyone’s safety. Sooner or later their drivers will kill someone or cause a horrific wreck.

I never thought I would be giving a tow company a five-​star review, but this place is staffed by incredibly honest, caring people.
My husband was recently diagnosed with brain cancer (glioblastoma), but he was able to continue to drive because he never experienced any seizure activity. He was also on anti-​seizure meds, just in case one were to occur. Unfortunately, he did suffer a seizure while in stopped traffic on the way home from work one evening. Amazingly, his vehicle merely bumped another car and slowly drifted to the curb. It was a miracle that there were no injuries or damages to either vehicle! Bruffy’s Tow took his vehicle to their impound in Marina Del Rey.
My husband was rushed to UCLA, where he was in ICU for two days on a ventilator in an induced coma, so that the doctors could get the seizure activity under control. On the morning of the third day, after being removed from the ventilator, he awoke with a start and said, «Work gave us a Playstation 4 and it’s in the back seat!» He works in video games, and the studio had apparently gifted everyone a special-​edition Playstation 4 the day before the game officially shipped. My heart sank. I imagined that it either never made it to the impound lot, or it was grabbed by someone once it got there. I mean, Los Angeles certainly isn’t Mayberry (look it up, kiddies)! I did not want to tell him someone took advantage of his situation and stole it. Since he was awake and probably being moved out of ICU that day, I had planned on picking up his vehicle that afternoon. I was barely able to sleep, thinking of ways in which I could replace it. He is already being robbed of his independence, bit by bit, by this brutal cancer and I cried at the thought of telling him he was robbed while at his most vulnerable.
I didn’t have to do that, though. As you have probably already guessed, AFTER 3 DAYS, THE PLAYSTATION 4 WAS STILL IN THE BACK SEAT OF HIS CAR! The gentleman that brought out the vehicle was very kind and I relayed the scenario to him when he asked from where we were towed, since the vehicle wasn’t damaged from the accident. I regret that I don’t remember the man’s name.
So, I just want to thank Bruffy’s Tow, with all of my heart, for being a group of amazing people. You guys rock!

Terrible– there is no excuse for them not telling you when you call that this is NOT the place you pay, which is 20 miles. I called to ask what time they were open until and check the amount I had to pay. They said they were open till midnight and the amount was $ 319.60.
No mention that you had to pay in inglewood 20 miles away. Just terrible, you are already stressed enough.

Awesome guys working here! My husband was involved in a motorcycle accident and the police had impounded his motorcycle to Bruffy’s tow lot. This was after the second day of his accident and I was extremely stressed with trying to deal with my husbands close encounter with death, all while also trying to deal with all the paperwork and other nonsense that happens in a vehicle accident. The guys here at Bruffy’s were all very concerned about the well being of my husband and made sure I knew all the information I needed. They were also very quick to get his motorcycle moved and accommodating by getting a small enough tow truck to fit in out apartments garage. Thank you again for making a tough situation a little bit easier for me!

Absurd!
Our car was towed away during the weekend in Marina del rey where their main lot is, and that’s where they towed it to, however it is not where you pay and release it! We had to über to some industrial area in L. A 20 min away JUST TO PAY (since they «don’t receive payment over the phone» seriously? !? it’s the 21^st century (!)) and then BACK to Marina del rey to their main lot to get out vehicle! To top that there was no one on site! Apparently they employ only one guy over the weekend who does towing and releases! So we had to wait an hour until he got there! Give people a break would ya?

Horrible company. First they don’t tell you they towed your vehicle illegally, second when you show up to pay they make you drive another 15 miles away to process the payment, then when you drive back to pick up the car they make you wait forever. Multiple CFPB violations, am reporting to FCC, CFPB, and BBB.

We parked our car in the wrong spot and our car was towed — my bad. But the staff at Bruffy’s were very nice, even gave us two ice cold bottles of water after we hustled over there on foot. As pleasant as it gets for this sort pf thing,

Had my car towed by Bruffys but it was my own fault! Good experience in getting it back. Staff at Hindry location and Glencoe very professional and helpful. Made me aware to look for notices of no parking. Even in the dark.

A driver from Bruffy’s lied to my face. He was towing a car from the apartment building I live in (not my car). I recognized that it belonged to another resident. I told the driver there was probably a mixup and the wrong car was being towed. The driver said, «I’ll wait 5 minutes for you to get the manager.» I had the building manager downstairs in under 1 minute, but the Bruffy’s driver was already gone with the car he was towing. He hadn’t even waited for 10 seconds. While the initial mixup was not Bruffy’s fault, the fact that their driver lied about waiting for the manager — and actually ran away from the manager, who was chasing him down the street — speaks volumes about their practices. The driver had already made it clear that he would have to be paid to lower the car back down, so all he was doing was trying to make life miserable on the person whose car he had by taking away the option to pay on the spot (or get confirmation it was an unauthorized tow). I suspect he was afraid he had taken possession of the wrong vehicle and by leaving could create some plausible deniability (ex: his-​word-​vs-​others-​word about where the car was). He was in such a hurry that he went the wrong way down a one-​way street, which seems especially dangerous when you’re actively towing and not very maneuverable. This sort of behavior is not OK, and somebody who acts this way shouldn’t be allowed to operate heavy machinery.

I found the people that work here to be very nice. I was super upset my car got towed but uplifted by their kindness and got my car back fast and easy.

Dishonest. We picked up my bro’s vehicle from impound on 8÷8÷14. They send out a lien notice /​service against a vehicle they are no longer in possession of on 8÷12÷14.
I had to call today to figure out who made this stupid mistake. They told me to disregard the letter. If they are not accurate in handling liens, I smell trouble. TWO THUMBS DOWN!!!
Also we had a hellavu wait after we paid, for them to finally bring the car out.

Was i happy that I had to there. Nope. Was it as good an experience as one can hope for. Fast, convenient and friendly. Yup!

oh, right. Yeah 0 freaking stars for the parking ticket they layered on top of the tow. Really?

Yes, it’s a tow yard so along with the IRS, no one is usually thrilled about having to do business with them. Generally, it’s going to cost you unallocated funds and time to get back what already belonged to you.
At 5am I was awakened to the sound of fire trucks outside my home and my car was engulfed in flames. Ugh. Not the way to start your morning and not the summer BBQ experience I had in mind. After the fire was extinguished, and while I was making calls to my insurance company to find out what the next steps would be, the city, never missing an financial opportunity, started towing my car citing that I couldn’t leave my vehicle on the city street in such condition. It didn’t help that I had some outstanding tickets also from parking on my own street. In any case, long, unfortunate story short it was towed to Bruffy’s.
I dealt with the manager Brian, who was my silver lining in all of this horrible mess. He was kind, courteous, promptly returned my calls, and advised me on the most practical, cost-​efficient manner in which to resolve the issue. He was actually more helpful than my own insurance company!
He gave me extra time to deal with my insurance company without charging me extra storage. I ended up paying for the towing and they took care of selling my car to a scrap yard. Brian was so helpful and informative and is a great asset to Bruffy’s.
Not everyone there was quite so helpful and I had to go back twice because one of the attendants screwed up my paperwork, but I sort of expected that. My five star rating is strictly based on Brian’s customer service. Impeccable.
Having lived in LA for over ten years, I have dealt with other tow company’s before and never have I felt like they actually had my best interest in mind.
I am just grateful to Brian for making a ridiculously unpleasant experience manageable.

They towed my car. Well done.
Ha ha! In seriousness, found my car missing this morning (oxymoron?) and guess it’s better towed than stolen. This company is just doing their job.
If I have anything to be upset about it is how ridiculous it is to park in this city and the cryptic signage and myself for being less diligent than I should have been.
They quoted me about $ 300 on the phone but for some reason only charged me about $ 240 so in some strange way I feel like I got a $ 60 bump and now thinking of all the cool things I will do with the cash that they didn’t take from me… Maybe I’ll pay (half) that new ticket that was left on my windshield.
Interesting note: Part of the fee I paid is listed as «Vehicle release fee» which I imagine is leveraged by the city in addition to the ticket money they will get.

LADOT towed my car for the LA Triathalon and contracted Bruffy’s to do it. I’m not angry at Bruffy’s — they just did their job.
The girl behind the counter was prompt. She wasn’t friendly, but considering the likely attitude of her customers, I understood. No one goes to an impound happy, and that takes a toll on you.
The guy in the office with her distracted her with his chatter and spent most of the time watching the TV. The tow guys would come in and they’d laugh it up. It almost felt like they were mocking me, but I was just taking things too personally. I mean, these guys DID just tow my car, after all.
When I got my car back, the tow guy was nice enough to scratch the chalk/​paint off my windshield. He got most of it off. The guys are gruff, which isn’t unexpected, and they are rude unless you are nice to them (they shouted for my attention from the other side of the lot, but they did call me «ma’am» when they shouted, «HEY, MA’AM*!»). Then, they’re just less rude to you, and perhaps even courteous.
They’re all people there and the place is decent. I never want to go back again, but they didn’t make the experience any worse than it already was.
*I’m not old enough to be a ma’am, but whatever.

Bruffy’s Tow is complicit in Auto Theft My 96 Honda was STOLEN from the street in front of my building in Mar Vista (about a 1 mile from Buffy’s tow) at night and the Police recovered it two days later in a secluded spot in the Marina (also 1 mile away from Bruffy’s). Conveniently placed in a location where only Bruffy’s tow would be called.
They charged me $ 200 for the same day pickup of the STOLEN car!!! Even though LAPD specifically had told me that I would not be charged. Apparently this is how these thieves make their money. This is classic mafia business right in front of our eyes. The shadiest business I have ever encountered in my life including in Colombia and Mexico. This business is as dirty as it gets. This is not the last they will be hearing from me.

Horrible. Unable to explain their company’s own policies without becoming defensive and rude. While I was there one customer left and flipped them off, the employees were genuinely shocked. It wasn’t a shock to the rest of us in line, they had just charged him upwards to $ 1K!
Another woman with a small baby had to pay for them to release her car after it had been stolen and left in an ally. She started to cry when she saw her car, and continued crying while she struggled to get the car seat she brought with her into the back of the car. No one helped her, and when my husband tried to enter the lot to give her a hand, they yelled at him to get back behind the gate. Horrible Karma on them. Community leeches, city parasites. Needs to be investigated.

Ok, so I know I’m supposed to bitch and moan about how Bruffy’s towed my car incorrectly or they charge too much or they are not nice or they leave footprints on the mat, etc etc…
But, why?
I’ve had cars «occupy» space at Bruffy’s on a couple occasions since I’ve lived on the Westside. I think if you’ve lived around here for a while, your car will eventually end up at Bruffy’s. Each time, I had to pay a crazy amount to get it out. The last time it came out to almost $ 1k, which included the daily fees, tow fees and the tickets I had to pay the Pacific Division of the LAPD. (Expired tags. Parked where I thought it was a private lot. Apparently, even if it’s a private lot, the owners can call the cops on you if they want to) At least Bruffy’s was nice enough to give me a free jumpstart!
Anyway, that’s what these guys do. They take your $hit. Well, more precisely, your $hit is somewhere it’s not supposed to be and they’re told to take it. Plain and simple really. And these guys do a good job of it. If you truly believe that your car ended up here inappropriately, go see a lawyer. I’ve seen lots of uppity snoots on Sunday mornings, still dressed to the 9s from Saturday nite waiting to get their cars. And I’m pretty sure they ended up paying to get their cars out.
BTW, if you need a car, Bruffy’s has an Auction on Tuesday mornings. And a vendor outside for a breakfast of bacon wrapped hotdogs!
