History
Established in 2015.
Sitting on a pier, legs dangling over the edge, eating a fresh lobster roll. Venturing into the wharfs to buy the freshest catch from fishmongers. These are the childhood memories that fomented a love of seafood in chef Jason Neroni, and led to the conception of Catch & Release, a new seafood venture in Marina Del Rey.
Neroni grew up in Orange County, California, but each summer he and his family would head back east to Maine for family reunions. There he would spend the days in and around Portland camping, fishing, and eating– lobster rolls, in particular.
By the time Neroni was cooking in professional kitchens, his interest in Maine’s best seafood expanded to include digging for steamers and fishing creeks for trout. He tracked down sea urchin, peekytoe crab (a personal favorite), and haddock, the best fish for frying and using in chowder.
Memories of Maine summers and precious time spent bonding over food with family led to the conception of Catch & Release.
