Biggest bummer: Marina Boat and RV would not allow the Military and Veteran discount. I explained to them on the website what they advertise, but they would not accommodate it because we booked online and already got 10% off.
However, the website clearly says: Military Discounts Add Up. Book your rental online for an automatic 10% off.* Show your military or veteran ID when you pick up your truck for an additional 10% off. Here is the link:
The other part of our story involves accommodating their shortened holiday hours. We rented a Penske truck from here to start off our move with plans to drop it off in Newport Beach. We wanted enough time to unpack down in Orange County, so had plans to pick it up in Marina at 4pm the day before (thus allowing us time to return it in Newport Beach at 4pm without paying late fees). However, Marina Boat and RV kept calling to tell us that they were going to be closing early at 12pm… then 11:30am…then 11:00am (granted, it was Christmas Eve and they wanted to go home). I told them that we were happy to accommodate them and come to pick up the truck early as long as they could confirm with Penske headquarters and the Newport Beach location that we could still drop it off at 4pm.
They said they did and all was good. Sweet. Unfortunately, when we got to Newport Beach on Dec. 26 to drop it off in the afternoon, they wanted to hit us with $ 100+ late fee. I called Marina Boat and RV and they recommended I call the headquarters to discuss it with them and they couldn’t help. After explaining that we are the consumers who were willing to accommodate them… I recommended that they should call since they «put the note in the system.» They did, thankfully, but it took a long and really annoying hour.
Marina Boat and RV still owes my dad 10% off the $ 400ish truck rental for being a disabled veteran. But I’m pretty sure we won’t see it, nor will you. Bummer.

Took our Penske truck (16 footer) to move cross country (LA to Arlington, VA). We asked them to make sure that truck that they are giving us are services and have all fluids needed. Sure enough… our drive was super smooth. Truck starts every time. No overheating, no nothing. The way it should be. Oh, also no hidden fee, when we return the truck in VA all we needed to do was given back the key and fill up the tank. Glad we did not use the other van/​truck rental company. Will definitely use Penske again next time.

I have been coming here for years. Either these guys have it out for me or they have incredibly poor timing. It seems every time I come here to refill my propane tank there’s a «problem» with their credit card machine. Why is it a «problem» to use a major financial instrument to pay a tiny debt in the 21^st Century? I found out why yesterday.
After filling up my tanks and attempting to pay the bill, the guy at the register tries running my card a few times and finally gives up and says, «this card doesn’t work do you have another one?», to which I replied «No.» He then says, «ok, cash only.» Since I’m short by $ 5 I had to leave the tanks while I hiked a half mile to get enough to pay it.
Are you effing serious? This is 2015 and you’re gonna make a customer go hunt down a form of payment because you are too lazy or stupid to troubleshoot a credit card machine? How about picking up a phone and calling your bank? (Which is what I asked him to do). REALLY? What a lazy wretch! I was forced to walk off (on damaged joints mind you) to the nearest payment device to get money while this wanker chows on his lunch??? 20 minutes later I come back and demand he run the card again and sure enough, it works fine.
The light bulb then goes off in said ‘wankers’ head, «Oh, we were getting a fax when we tried to run your payment. We only have one phone line. Sorry». Apparently he didn’t have the good sense or consideration to inform me of this prior to walking a half mile to get his blood money.
Oh, and as if this weren’t enough, I go to Home D after this to exchange a tank that was unfillable. The bill for a whole tank exchange (my credit card worked the first time BTW) was about the same as it was for a fill over here. Now tell me why would I go through this aggravation for a fill when it’s easier to go to the garden dept. at HD and walk out with a new tank two minutes later? Wow. For once in my life I found something Home D does better than someone else. Their job.
Go figure.
Goodbye Marina. Hope you have the good sense to invest in a separate business line. I won’t be coming back.

I have twice stored boats at this convenient location for years at a time. The boats were safe, the lot was clean, the staff was always super nice, approachable and reliable. If I am lucky enough to get another boat, I already know where I will store it.
Highly recommend.

Boat still missing. Police report was filed. This business is seriously committing crimes. They have not offered to help me. They have not offered to investigate their security cameras and to help identify who stole our boat. I have yet to receive one call from them ever. They are fraud. Over 2 years now and my boat is still missing. Would be nice if they offered to help find or track down who stole it. Since they have cameras

This place sucks. I just took my propane tank to get refilled here. I went inside and asked the clerk about it. He said they closed at 5:30. It was 5:35. And their website clearly says they are open until 6 o’clock. I won’t be back here.

As far as propane refills go, this is the place you want to come! It was very fast and you know that you’re paying for exactly what you get, not a ‘pre-​refilled’ exchange tank that might not be all the way full. I was in and out in a matter of minutes and paid $ 36 to have two tanks filled.
Just FYI, they only take Visa or MasterCard, no AmEx.

Super easy, inexpensive, FAST (under 5 min) friendly propane fill! :) Will be back! As good as it gets, indeed!

We’ve had our travel trailer stored here for a few years now, you just can’t beat the location! Never had any problems with billing, the staff is always helpful. My only complaint is the hours of operation. If we want to take off for a quick weekend trip we have to be in and out before 6:00 which can be pretty tough in Friday afternoon traffic. And the penalty for not being on time is very steep. They do extend it one hour on Friday and Sunday for a few months in the summer, but an 8:00 closing time would be sooo much more convenient!

We’ve been storing our boat there for years. You can also get your propane and firewood there. Staff is always pleasant and helpful.

Never give these guys a check. I stored a camper trailer and one month they said they never received my check. I had given it to a guy at the counter. They said they never got it. Hmmm. So that’s how my checking account got duplicated. Shady.

I went to Marina Boat & RV Storage to purchase firewood and at the end of my transaction felt I need to tell everyone not to ever buy firewood here. After calling in and confirming they had a ¼ cord of mixed firewood available for $ 155 I drove down to make the purchase. After being charged I proceeded to the area where the wood was stored and was assited by the office clerk in loading up my pickup with wood. As we began I asked how he would knew how much a ¼ cord would be as we simply were pulling from a large pile of firewood. The clerk told me 75 pieces was ¼ cord. I quickly and courteously told him that was not true and how can a small piece and large piece be treated equally in addition to the fact that 75 pieces was not nearly ¼ cord. The clerk quickly said he wanted to refund me my money and suggested another store to buy my wood. While in the office collecting my refund I noticed bundled wood for sale, the same wood from the yard prepacked and wrapped in plastic. I noticed the bundles had 7 pieces per and were priced at $ 7.99. When I asked why I could buy 11 bundles (77 pieces) for $ 88, almost $ 70 less than their fraudulant ¼ cord price the clerck could not answer reasonably. Bottom line, this establishment tried to fraud me by giving me far less wood than promised. Buyer beware at this establishment!

I needed a part for my european cooker. They did not have it but took ½ hour looking it up and found that as its metric its pretty rare but said they could order one.
A week later I picked it up.

I went to get two propane tanks refiled. It’s a minimum of $ 8. It’s $ 3.95 per gallon. A standard propane tank is about 4.7 gallons. I just pulled up to the sign, the service guy quickly came out, filled it, gave me a slip, I went inside and paid the cashier. The service guy rounded to the whole gallon. I don’t know how the guy figures whether it’s up or down. A couple other people filled their propane tank while I was there and no one seemed to have any problems or delays. Easy.

This is a good local spot for propane.

The staff are so incredibly rude and unhelpful that I’d rather not give them my business.

this review is for the penske truck rental. reserved on online on a friday bout 8pm to pick up at 4pm the next day. got a call at about 330pm when we were heading there.
«is this Phuc? we don’t have a truck for you, we’re all out» and hangs up.
now all the other places are closed or all booked. they ass didn’t have to wait till the end of the day to call and in a rude way too. giving them an extra star since maybe if I reserved earlier things would have went better, but looking at the previous review, that’s not likely.

This is a local franchise joint of Penske Truck Leasing’s. Horrible service. A typical case of «we just don’t give a darn about customers» — who are paying us for our services and provide us with a living. Typically they will have several shiny new trucks standing in the yard, but the one you will get will be the beaten up dirty junker with 200,000 miles on it brought out from the back. For a simple truck pick-​up it took them almost 30 minutes to give me a truck with no other customers around. Once I got the truck the cabin was still full of dirt and junk. The «help» wiped the rubber mats on driver’s side of the cabin down with glass cleaner and paper towels. The heavy ammonia odor nearly made me pass out while driving out of the joint. Still, everything else in the cabin had inches of grime and dirt. I don’t care about what’s under my feet that much, but the things I touch, like steering wheel, gearshift and radio — they should not be like superglue to the touch. Overall I can only give would-​be customers one piece of advice: go somewhere else.
