Way too little meat per order, overpriced. Only reason I gave 3 stars was for the good service.

The food and service are awesome here and they are generous w/their sides(I love my Kong na-mool), but what keeps me from being able to give them a clean 5 stars is the price. It’s really expensive to come here and eat your fill, not to mention drink too… It’s convenient to not have to drive all the way to Korea town when you are on the West Side though so I’ll definitely keep coming back, but only a few times a year.

I’ve been to this place several times and decided to a take very close Korean American friend of mine. I was hugely disappointed at what the $ 59.95 Wharo combo. The server suggested it it was so burned, tiny tiny portions of meat with some charred pineapple thrown in. We felt completely scammed! As a Chef of over 12yrs I can’t believe when we told the server of our dissatisfaction, he just said sorry. I felt like I took my friend to a place I had told him about but it sucked!!! I have been here before and ordered other items and it was never this bad. Now I’m reluctant to ever go back. As a resident of Marina Del Rey I guess I need to venture out to get much better worthwhile Korean BBQ. My green ice tea also tasted and looked like water.

I’m not from around here so this is my first time. I have this annoying pineapple allergy and cross contamination isn’t an option either. I let the server know and him and the owner(im assuming) were amazing at letting me know that their marinade is pineapple base and sauces and etc. they managed to fill me and my boyfriend up on 2 plates of non marinated, non cross contaminated dishes and it was AWESOME at that. Amazing people at this place and good food! Pineapple allergy is a pain in the ass and they cooperated with me in such a sincere way! Will come back to this next time I’m in the area. Side note: our server was Matthew and he is probably the best server I’ve ever experienced!!!

Good spot for KBBQ. I went here with a friend and have a good experience. The staff was friendly and they have a parking lot. Good spot for dates or friends.

I was just craving Korean food, I felt so bad when after we got seated my bf reminded me he was trying to stay off meat. He ordered the vegetable dol sot bibimbap and I ordered a half order of scallops and a half order of thin brisket for the grill. You have to order at least 2 halves or 1 full grill item in order to fire it up. It was pretty typical, I liked having the option of scallops, they came nicely marinated but it was just your average, overpriced kbbq joint. No rice paper like in ktown but really good salad and kimchi. Sometimes when you really crave something, you just gotta go and get you some. Located right on Lincoln with a handy parking lot with a Penguin’s in walking distance for a cool treat after :)

I had a great time at Wharo KBBQ. The staff was helpful, friendly, and I love that they change the grill place when it gets dirty. I have never ever experienced that before and I loved it. Though NOTALLYOUCANEATKBBQ, it was still a good experience. The meat was seasoned properly, the drinks were flowin, and my clothes and hair smells like the food once I left. If you don’t leave with the smell on you, you havn’t experienced real Korean BBQ. Was kinda weird that they only had the Saporo in Large, not regular size bottles, and that there is no button on the wall to request service. The place also closes at 10pm on weekdays which is kinda sad but overall the food was good. One should definitely come here for a fancy date or an intimate, romantic experience.

Def not $$$, more like $$. 2 people cost $ 35, and i eat a lot. Food is good, spicy chicken and rice are wonderful. Service and ambiance five out of five stars.

Sooo good! So happy to have a good k-BBQ place on the west side. The staff was super attentive and so nice. Fun place to take a group of 6 – 8 people.

GREATFOOD. Both the spicy pork and natural beef bugogi are great. the chocolate soufflie is out of this world but tiny and very pricy a $ 8.95… add tax and tip and it is more than $ 11 each… get one for each member of your family of four and you are adding more than $ 44 to your bill. The natural beef bugogi is great at $ 32.95 which is the highest price I have seen outside of an ultra fancy Korean restaurant. Portions are generous. Fun atmosphere.

This place doesn’t deserve $$$ IMO. Every time I’ve been here it’s usually 25−30ish after tax-tip, and the Ktown legends with $$ like Kang Hodong Baekjeong you can easily surpass that. Anyway, that’s what tended to put me off the most. It is pretty much the only KBBQ(with grills) on the Westside. The meats are relatively high quality, with some nice touches like pineapples strewn about. Good variety of banchan but no rice paper. All the seasoned meats are quality, and the bibimbap is nice and flavorful. What’s surprising is in fact how they offer so many things, AND shabu shabu(which I haven’t tried yet), and do it so solidly, and so isolated from much other competition.

Came here last Sunday wth a friend and I actually really like this kbbq place! It’s not quite all you can eat, but the quality of the meat is so good and definitely worth the price! We just got the WHAROCOMBO for two which comes with brisket, pork belly, spicy outskirt beef, and kalbi. My favorite was the kalbi! Soooo bomb. I gotta say this combo was totally worth it and it was so much food! The sides here are also really good! Our server, Alan, was super nice and friendly and he gave us great recommendations! He was also very attentive and checked on us many times. I give this place 5 stars definitely for the service!

I had actually eaten here a couple of weeks ago, but haven’t had the time to write a proper review until now. I’ve eaten at many Korean BBQ restaurants, but to be honest, none of them compare to Wharo. The quality of the meat was amazing and tasted delicious! Not only was the food great, but the service was above my expectations! I was fortunate enough to be served by this really cute waiter named Kenji. He was so nice to me and my friend and was very attentive! He has the cutest smile and his service was outstanding! He was so friendly and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone I know!

Came on a Groupon deal for two for shabu shabu. Make sure you call to make a reservation beforehand! We tried wandering in once and got turned away. Very surprising as it’s not that kinda fancy dining restaurant. Overall the food was alright. Coulda used a bit more meat as I think my husband was still hungry after dinner. Wish they gave a bit more veggie too. Veggies are cheap! Throwing an extra bok choy leaf or two shouldn’t break the bank for them. It woulda been nice if they turned the last bit of soup and noodle into a noodle dish like some other shabu places but they don’t. Since there’s bbq grills in the restaurant you might end up smelling after the meal.

Came here for the Shabu Shabu Groupon(Course A) and it was just OK. The food is more like 3 stars but I’m giving a 4 star rating because of the awesome staff. I was really underwhelmed with Shabu Shabu. The spicy beef soup barely had any flavor to it and they give only one plate of veggies/udon/mushroom to share between two people. Overall, I felt that the flavor was too light. We ordered the shrimp pancake and it was so overpriced! Four circular pieces for $ 15 bucks… It was good but nothing special compared to the other seafood pancakes that come in huge skillets at Korean restaurants. The dipping sauces for the shabu were good though — I had to use a lot of it! Also, I could tell the meat was high quality. The service was fantastic! The waiters all had a great attitude and checked in on us consistently throughout the meal. I burned my fingers on accident touching the pot and our waiter brought me some Neosporin, a cup of ice, and magical Korean band aids — all without me asking! It was a nice surprise and my burn definitely wouldn’t have healed so fast if it wasn’t for him!

4 stars for the bibimbap! I went in not knowing the difference between korean bbq and shabu shabu –this place offers both — and left not knowing the difference — and that’s because we opted for neither and got the bibimbap. The bibimbap is amazeballs. Get it with the healthy sticky rice — who knew rice could be so good a little sticky/crunchy. And yes, I later googled the difference between korean bbq and shabu shabu — and people rave about that here. I just can’t imagine going to this place and NOT getting the bibimbap.

Maybe, it is my fault for trying out shabu shabu here. This is like the only place that offers shabu shabu at Marina Del Rey. I believe this place is known for KBBQ(not unlimited) Their shabu shabu’s soup was horrible actually let me correct that their shabu shabu’s base soup was just water with some red pepper in it. Many great shabu shabu places offer different kinds of soups but this place doesn’t, however, the meats were pretty great quality except the fact you get chicken as part of your meat combo. I didn’t really mind that to be honest but I didn’t expect sliced chick meat would come out like a main meat, when I payed over 20 dollars per person. I don’t know if their KBBQ is great but it felt to me like their shabu shabu was something that they were doing on the side. I believe that this resturant should have made some more KBBQ seats instead of awkwardly placed shabu shabu bar. The price seemed pretty high side for KBBQ and not worth it for Shabu Shabu. I don’t mind paying for any food any amount long as it matches the value of either the service and taste. Their service is great, medium size restaurant but seemed to have more than enough workers, which means more paying attending to customers. I would come here. to be honest for KBBQ even though I haven’t tried it. I would just go to downtown LA. If you live around and there is a lot of traffic on 10 freeway or you are lazy to drive over to LA then you should give it a try here. Place overall looks new and nice.

So the groupon deal was a 5. Great deal. I had never eaten shabu shabu before, so I was really excited. The groupon deal came with veggies, gyoza, udon, rice, chicken and two kinds of beef. We tried it with the beef broth, spicy and non spicy. Both were great. LOVED the sesame sauce to dip everything in. They recommend it just for the meats, but it goes well with the vegetables and gyoza. Definitely recommend trying the soup after you cook everything! Also ordered a beer and a tangerine monitor(a special), which was the perfect drink for anyone who has a taste for sweet cocktails. What my issue was with was after we left the restaurant. I got a call from the restaurant and they told me that we did not pay our bill(they had my number from a reservation). Though I calmly explained to them that we did, and even provided the name and last digits on the card, the phone call ended in a very accusatory tone. Fifteen minutes later we get a call back from our waiter. They asked us if we were a certain couple, and we said no. Then they told us they found our payment. No apology, nothing. They curtly hung up the phone on me. I found it really rude and disrespectful. Despite a great experience in the restaurant, this interaction afterwards left me with a real sour taste in my mouth. An apology for accusing someone of dining and ditching is common courtesy and not much to ask for.
