This place is awesome!!! My boyfriend and I spent a week in Mariposa and this place was definitely the highlight of anything we did in town! Brenda was awesome! She took the time to learn our names and make us feel right at home — we spent the whole evening there hanging out with her, her daughter in law and a few locals. We had such a great time! Plus — she used to be a professional wrestler and has some amazing stories! They’ve only got a few beers on tap, but they were good — we had Black Butte porter, can’t remember the rest — and at $ 5 a pint you can’t go wrong! If you’re going to be spending any time in Mariposa, you’ve just got to visit this place! And don’t forget to hang up your dollar bill!

Real local dive with live music and cheap cold beers($ 5). The night we were there, bluegrass was playing which was perfect to wrap up the night. This little place is off the main street and hidden underneath a building so it’s easy to miss. Make sure you leave your mark by leaving a one dollar bill on the wall.

I stop here every time I ride through Mariposa. Super friendly people and the most unique space I’ve ever seen for a bar. Definitely a place you’re gonna want to drop into.

There are a few times when you are traveling you run into hole in the wall places like this that you will never forget. Bartender is an ex WWF fighter with a picture to prove it. Friendly and welcoming people. I defiantly recommend this place.

We decided on a whim to go in here before we went to dinner in town. What a hidden gem!!! The owners are great people. Every customer that came in was very cool. The locals were friendly and down to earth. The whole place has a great energy and clearly some kind of good karma. They carry local beers and wines as well. This is a DONOTMISS place.

A large group of us are spending the week here in Mariposa. One of the guys in the group suggested we go to The Hideout. We visited last night and were greeted by a super wonderful gal named Brenda. Brenda asked for all our names when we walked in and continued to carry on a great conversation throughout our visit. What a great place with a great atmosphere. It’s a perfect place to wind down from the day. They had a very good beer selection. They sell chips but Brenda offered and made us bowls of fresh popcorn. She did everything to make us all feel like we were friends. When we left, Brenda thanked us for coming and gave us all hugs. In the crazy hectic world most of us live in these days, it’s nice to come across places like this where you feel welcome and can let go of all the stresses from the outside world for awhile! Don’t forget to pick up a tshirt or bluegrass cd before you leave!

Best bar in Mariposa and even in California I went to. If you’re passing by Mariposa make sure you have a beer here and meet Walter, the unofficial Mariposa mayor. Also Brenda the bartender was a lovely lady.

Great dive bar hidden in a basement accessible from a back parking lot. I wouldn’t want to be here in an earth quake but the place is so cool you easily forget that the ceiling could come down at any moment. Spent an afternoon here drinking beers and playing dice games with the bartender.

This dive bar totally made our night. After a long day of hiking at Yosemite, the BF and I grabbed some din din at a totally forgettable Mexican resto(that’s another review) and decided to have a little nightcap before resting our weary legs. You could roll through Mariposa and miss this tiny bar, as it’s in a back alley under a main street building(signage is off to the right of the building), but that would be a travesty! This place gets 5 stars for: *Cheap drinks on tap($ 4 – 5) that include Racer 5IPA, Bootjack Blonde and Black Butte Porter, local wines *Kitschy interior, including«message on a dollar bill» wallpaper(saw some pounds and euros too), jeans upholstered bar stools, original wall from the 1800s, reddish lighting * Fabulously friendly bartendress(Katie, I believe) * Chill, friendly patrons(you may walk in a stranger, but I promise you’ll have at least one good convo with your co-imbibers) * Walter!!! Extra points for the cool band from Riverside(I didn’t catch their name) playing that night. These young(21 – 23 y.o.) boys had a great funky vibe going that added to the appeal of this magical hideout.

Great little place in Mariposa! Stopped in after zip lining. One of the few places that has a great Hard Cider. This place lives up to its name. It is a bit hidden off the main street. The woman behind the bar introduced herself and made an effort to learn our names. I love that! She had a great personality and was very friendly. Next time I go to Yosemite I will definitely stop there again.

My husband and I had a ball at this little dive bar! The bartender came up and introduced herself as soon as we sat down. Before we could finish our first beer, the guy next to us bought everyone a round(Thank you Robert!). We were looking for some music that night, but since we visited in the middle of Winter it’s kinda quiet around town. A very nice customer and citizen of Mariposa came to the rescue… Hank got out his guitar right then and there. He then proceeded to write and sing us a song about our trip :) Later on that night, another very talented musician joined him. Some great music was played and a good time was had by all! We will always have memories of this random and fun night hanging out with some truly genuine people. Thanks for an awesome time, beer, music, Bob Dylan, Jackson & the vest!

Fabulous little(ok tiny) spot. Immediately upon walking up/down to the spot, my boyfriend’s and my eyes lit up. He looked like a kid about to go into a candy store, and I liked how it looked old-timey. We both liked how it was off beaten path. Inside, there were a bunch of dollar bills on the ceiling and walls. When we ordered our beers, I expressed interest in posting one up. I was promptly handed a permanent marker, a staple gun and a Coors. The bartender was super friendly and the owners were, too. Clover, the owner’s dog, was around and was super sweet. We got to meet Walter, Mariposa’s ‘unofficial Mayor,’ which was the cherry on top of the visit.

This place is unique! f you can find it and it is open you got to go there! The Mayor/Icon of Mariposa useally holds court at the end of the bar near the TV. His name is Walter an earlier post showed his picture. They have 4 beers on tap for $ 4.00. My choice is the Snowshoe IPA.
