Terrible terrible. I worked for them and dirty filthy reused dishes and food. I have never seen such a rip off

My brother just got married and used this catering company. They were terrible. I witnessed Alan, the owner of this company, argue with my brother and his new bride when they approached him with concerns. Which there were plenty of concerns. Every time my sister-​in-​law asked Alan a question, he would bring her a drink as if he was trying to get her drunk to forget the horrible service. The valet was a mess. My brother had discussed with Alan weeks before the wedding his concern with only having a couple of valets for the cars and Alan told them not to worry about it. Well, they didn’t and all of the guests were waiting in their cars for a half hour just to be parked. Alan was especially rude to the whole bridal party, offering them food and then closing lids on their fingers when the went to reach for the appetizers. The planning for the day was also horrible. They showed up late, which created issues for the florist who was trying to set up the decorations. The intermezzo was never served even though it was paid for, the desserts were served for only a couple of minutes and hardly any of the guests got to have dessert because they were up dancing. When guests were asking for water, which was no where to be found other than at the bar (only once was my water glass filled, which was at the end of the night after the glass was sitting upside down on the table for the whole reception), Alan openly yelled at the guests. The only good things about this company are the serving staff who were doing the best they could do with what they were working with and the cook. The food was excellent. But it doesn’t make up for the horrible customer service from the owner. Save yourself the trouble and find another caterer!

TERRIBLE! Just terrible-​The reception began with the owner YELLING at my husband and I. We were about to be announced into the barn (where the band was), he thought we were being introduced into the tent (where there was only seating, I don’t know why he would assume we’d be introduced into the tent with no music) and he scolded us! He said, «You never told me. When am I supposed to start my food service!?» He then grabbed the wedding party list from the band and yelled at our families and friends to line up and yelled, «Doesn’t anyone know their name around here!?» Great way to start my reception! Thanks Alan!
The owner persuaded us to have one bar with two bartenders and assured us that this was a better plan than two separate bars. The second bar tender left halfway through the reception so there was a huge line the entire event. One bartender for 140 guests! That one bartender than proceeded to pull ice from the coolers (with beer bottles in them) WITH HIS HANDS! Gross! He also told the guests that my mother in law did not buy certain alcohol and blamed her for not buying enough beer even though we took home 15 cases of beer and dozens of bottles of alcohol! We also had to ask for our unopened bottles to take home.
We paid for multiple fans as well as an air cooler totaling over $ 200 in cooling. The night of there were two fans in the barn with NO cooling system. When we asked why we were missing 4 fans as well as the cooling system the owner replied, «They were there (in regards to the fans),» and, «I didn’t think you needed the air cooler.» It was ridiculously humid that night, the guests and I were melting! I also don’t know why he took it upon himself to assume we didn’t need the cooling system. When we informed him that we had pictures of the set up with the missing fans, only then did he agree to refund our money.
Our cake and cup cakes were left upside in puddle of water over night, even though it was supposed to be packed up for us to take home.
We had a second tent added the day before. The day of the event there was no lighting in the tent where the food was being served. I would assume someone with so much «experience» would offer lighting in the second tent, which we gladly would’ve paid for. Instead our guests had to pick their food in the dark. We also reviewed the lighting in our main tent two times and yet it was still set up incorrectly.
Coffee service began with people getting half cups of coffee, with no cream or sugar out on the tables.
Our family members had to constantly cool the beer and put it into coolers, even though we were reassured that Ultimate Caterer had the means to keep it cold, since we had it delivered the day of the event cold.
This caterer let us down 100%. I would never recommend them to anyone. When I learned of the terrible service I was sick to my stomach knowing that our guests were witnessing this unsanitary service.

Alan and his team do a Great Job. They can accomidate anyones needs. His food is excellent, service staff attentive and presentaion flawless. I always joke that if you olny allowed allowed Alan to serve Pizza Bagles at your affair he would make them look and taste like a million bucks. Alan is a straight shooter and is a pleasure to work with.
As an owner of a Entertainment, Photography, Videography and Photobooth company I am often asked for vendors referrral. I am proud to send my cleints to him when my cleints are looking for a Cater. He hosted one of my cleints wedding at The Stone Pony after I referrred him and they could not thank me enough for connecting them to Alan & his team for thier Wedding Day. We just had our corporate outing (Advice Personnel) for our staff of about 20 in my backyard in Freehold. Alan Perl from Ultimate Caterers told me to kick back and enjoy the party and he will take care of the rest, and that is just what he did. We had a team of three– Joe, Tom and Pat our chef. Pat barbecued to near perfection, prepared a couple of fresh homemade salads, and followed everything up with a variety of tasty deserts. Joe and Tom set up, manned the bar, and served in an easygoing but professional way, which complemented the chill vibe that we wanted for our company party. The tiki décor, table linens, and overall attentiveness could not be better. If you are considering a similar type event, I definitely recommend Alan’s ultimate caterers. It was great to kick back and enjoy my own party!

This is a very delayed review. My wedding was in May 2013.
We originally met with Jennifer and booked Ultimate for our wedding at Valenzano Winery. First, I will say that the food was very good. I don’t have guests coming up to me now, 4 months later, raving about it or anything but the food was good at the wedding.
When the time came to begin nailing down details, I felt like I was dealing with a car salesman. Alan was incredibly pushy, I literally told him 4x that we didn’t want the $ 600 lighting package that was available and somehow it continued to show up on our invoice. Every time the invoice was updated, there were things on it we said we didn’t want or need.
Fast forward to the wedding day. I am still embarrassed by the number of complaints I received from my guests about the awful bartending. The glasses were being half-​filled or more with just liquor and they were using NO ice (and we ended up running out of liquor which we were told we had plenty of at the beginning). Guests were told there weren’t certain types of liquor when we stocked a full bar and had what they were looking for. The male bartender didn’t know how to make standard and common drinks. The female bartender (who is actually the maitre d’s wife) berated the male bartender in front of my guests. She also made my guests wait in line for drinks while she removed dollar bills (presumably tips) from INSIDE OF HER SHIRT, organized them, and put them in her purse (more than once, to many different guests). At the end of the night, the maitre d’ requested tips for the bartenders from my husband and I. I wish I was kidding.
If I could go back, I would have never used Ultimate Caterer at my wedding. Dealing with them before and the day of was the biggest stress of wedding planning for us.

Alan Perl and his team from Ultimate Caterer provided us with excellent service for our wedding at the James Ward Mansion in Westfield, NJ. He is an expert on this venue and it showed throughout the event. His staff helped immensely throughout the planning process, coordinating us through phone and email as we attempted to plan a wedding in NJ from Washington state. He happily provided us with a special tasting outside of his normal business operation during the one week we were home… we really appreciated the special treatment. At that time we realized we had a number of special requests, all of which Alan was able to make happen. We opted for his «never ending cocktail party» package which worked quite well. He provided 16 delicious passed hors d’oeuvres, 3 food stations, and 2 bars for everyone’s enjoyment. As we transitioned to dessert, we had 3 passed small deserts and a cake coordinated through Bovella’s bakery in Westfield. His staff was very professional and made the night special for us. He constantly ensured that we were fed and had whatever we needed. I highly recommend Ultimate Caterer for your wedding or other event as they will take the time to ensure that your needs are met!

The food, the displays, the service, everything, spectatular. Everything you promised me came true. You helped start my new life on the right foot. I feel compelled to offer my comments; The Ultimate Caterer is the best and they put on amazing parties that have guests raving for weeks following any event! Alan Perl & the Ultimate Caterers have catered my wedding, my son’s bris, my nieces Bat Mitzvah, my nephews Bar Mitzvah and my sons Bar Mitzvah and they were all marvelous parties that always surpassed our expectations. Alan is a true professional and produces fabulous events, he always asks us a million questions while we are planning the party and his reason for doing so is to «cover all the bases» ahead of time so on the day of the party he has a well designed plan to execute and I must say we covered everything before any event, there are NO surprises and Alan as the General with his army always deliver everything we had discussed & more. Most recently The Ultimate Caterer produced our son’s Bar Mitzvah in NYC and it was a marvelous event that had the most jaded Manhattanites shocked and amazed with the party they were privy to. It wasn’t easy, we had a penthouse venue in NYC and Alan & his crew coordinated everything perfectly, we had a Surfing theme and the room was festooned with surf boards, boogie boards, flowers, palm trees, lifeguard stands, tiki huts, surf themed cake, great lighting, candles and twinkle lights… it was gorgeous. The room was elegantly and flawlessly set up ahead of schedule, the tables looked beautiful, the glassware & silverware glistened in the candlelight and the way the tables were arranged maximized the room for my guests to enjoy their meals. The food was awesome, not only delicious but creative, plentiful & served beautifully and professionally; the hot food was hot & the cold food was cold. The staff was just great, they treated our guests truly as their guests, each & every request, and there were a lot, were handled promptly and pleasantly, the staff went above & beyond the call of duty to make our guests (and they are a picky group to deal with) happy and ready to party. The bartenders & servers were stupendous, attending to our guests every want & need when it came to beverages and as my Uncle Bob said «they never let an empty glass remain empty for long» (I’ve never heard of a cash bar at any catered party no less a wedding?)! My Mom & Dad are handicapped and I must say I was concerned with them being able to get in & out of the cocktail hour and then change floors for the reception but Alan & his staff were right there to transport them discreetly when it was called for, the way they were taken care of was especially touching to my entire family. Even during the candle-​lighting ceremony whenever some of the «seniors» needed assistance Alan or a member of his team were there to provide a helping hand or a shoulder to hold onto to, that is the sign of a crew that truly cares for their guests! Alan is the owner/​operator of The Ultimate Caterer and at no time did he say or would I expect him to be cooking the food for our party; his crew of kitchen pros are astute and well trained and provided our event with remarkable food that won raves from our group of «jaded New Yorkers». Any request that was made of Alan and his staff was taken care of instantly and intelligently his group was prepared for anything and at no time was any request ignored, denied or delayed. Our guests partied and were treated like «rock stars» and they all said if not THE best it was definitely in the top 5 Bar Mitzvahs they ever attended! When dinner service began the staff were ready, willing & able to help all our guests whether it was to carry a plate to a table, get food for my wife & family, provide new silverware, a napkin or get a cocktail for a guest or even refill the water glasses, these servers were «locked & loaded» to provide top notch service whatever it took. Alan Perl & the Ultimate Caterers are the best caterers ever, any event they produced for us has always garnered new customers from the guests they served and I’ve recommended them to many friends & relatives over the years who were all grateful to me for letting them know about them and thrilled with the events Alan & his team of experts created for them. I will always be grateful to Alan Perl & The Ultimate Caterer for being there for us when we needed them most and for making the most important times of our lives unforgettable

After evaluating dozens of caterers for my daughter’s wedding, I decided to go with The Ultimate Caterer owned by Alan Perl. The name of his company says it all…
They were amazing from start to finish and made my husband and I feel like the best parents in the world when we saw the look of excitement on our daughters face. The collaboration of our ideas and Alan’s experience came together for one of the most remarkable nights I have had in a while (and not just because I was paying for it!).
The cocktail hour had a towering raw bar filled with the finest seafood. Coupled with the drink tables that were a reflection of different vacations my daughter and son-​in-​law spent together, was absolutely adorable. And then came dinner and dessert, delicious.
Its rare that you can speak of a caterer, or party, or event that runs smoothly, but Alan’s team had everything taken care of from valet parking to the coat check. If you’re looking for a caterer who can you dreams and make them reality, then The Ultimate Caterer and Alan Perl are who you should look to!
