Best wings in town! Nice little dive bar to grab a better, watch a game, and have a good time.

Two things I’ve always loved about this place: The WW2 Era papers built into the bar counter, and Bill — the friendliest and most attentive bartender of all the Marlborough bars. Beers are pretty cheap, draft selection is limited(Sam Adams is the best you’ll get). Mixed drinks are usually served in really small glasses with lots of ice, while still costing a bit. If I eat here I usual get the PuPu Patter, typical pub apps that are hard to mess up. The other day my girlfriend and I went, she ordered beef tips and I ordered grilled cheese. The grilled cheese was ok, but the beef tips smelled rancid. We sent them back and got fish instead. Worst part was the waitress tried selling the tips to the both next to us and we advised them against it. I like Sullys and I try to pop in now and again, but I’d avoid entrees in the future.

Price high. Child menus very expensive. Food not very good. Will not return or reccomend. More of a small bar with locals

Been visiting this place for a little under a year, they are always accommodating, friendly, wings are out of this world. The staff pays good attention to you and overall it’s just a great experience.

We were looking for a good place to get clam chowder on the way home from a trip a few months ago. I hopped on Unilocal and saw some great chowder reviews for Sullys(as well as a not so great review). The staff were nice, a bit slow, and sadly the chowder was barely warm, chunky, and sour tasting. We sent it back. The waitress told us it must have been the end of a batch because they have some of the best chowder around. I wish we felt the same. :(

Food was ok! The Chicken Cordon Bleu special was the furthest thing from it as you can get. A fried chicken Brest with a slice of ham and cheese and supreme sauce on top and my wife’s chicken supreme was overwhelmingly huge! Margaritas were yummy!

Worst place for food i’ve EVER been to. I thought it would be nice to come for some comfort food and watch the celtics game with my boyfriend. First i order the clam chowder, it was curdled, expired and sour. Next my chicken ceasar salad came; the chicken was raw with pink in the middle. My boyfriend ordered fried shrimp and scallops which was a mangled pile of mush and was extremely greasy. Our waitress was very rude. My diet coke was flat so i asked nicely if i could get a water and she said«i just filled up your diet coke and you didnt even drink it» with a mean attitude. She was very slow(2 hours and we didnt even eat our meals) and she spent most of her time sitting at a table drinking wine. I understand it is mainly a place for drinks but I hope they stop serving food or clean up their act. Very disappointed and will never EVER go back

The wings, by the way, are first rate. I don’t know if they always were. But they are now. First rate. Can’t get enough. And sometimes the specials are baller. The other bar food stuff is good too and although I’ve never ordered, I’ve seen some full comfort meals go out to other tables that look awesome. Sully’s really is amazing. Just don’t get wings as takeout… they take too long and sometimes they forget the sauce.

STAYAWAY!!! Will never eat here again!!! Although food and service was pretty good, owner/bartender is an ass! Accosted us of being cheap after we left a 20% plus tip! Party of 10. $ 196 bill. Left $ 240 cash. I hardly think that warrant being called ‘cheap’(and that was one of the nicer things he called us). Check your staffs pockets before accusing PAYING customers and calling people names Jack**s!

Fantastic food. But I am motivated to write a review not just because of that. I accidently dropped 40 $ out of my pocket during dinner when I reached in for my phone. I realized it was gone when I got home. I called an hour later and was told that the money was found by our waiter who turned it in. Such good people these folks are… Give them your business :)

Used a gift certificate here in an attempt to patronize all restaurants near our new crib. This place is very hidden, in fact we even gave up the first time we tried to find it. There are two sides, the bar and the dining area, but you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the bar. When the Blue Collar Crew gets to yapping, there is no drowning out the noise. Entertaining, albeit is slightly annoying. Our waitress was a gem. Super friendly in a way such that you feel like you are at your cousins house having dinner. Filled up my wine class to the top, basically sealing her fate as an impeccable server. We split the large antipasto– It was more than enough for two people, but be advised there is tuna fish on top. We were not prepared for this at all, having never ever seen it on antipasto before. This was a definite yuck for my man, and even off-putting for the seafood lover in me. The boo got a burger and I got steak tips, cooked medium rare and they were DELICIOUS. Prices were a little high for the atmosphere. We somehow spent $ 80 on a dinner for two. We were both surprised, from the looks of it you should get outta there more cheaply… We left stuffed and with leftovers. It seems like a place the locals hang out, and seeing as we are locals, I am sure we’ll be back. At least to the bar area, where I could have been entertained for hours just listening.

OKAY I CANNOTSAYENOUGHGOODTHINGSABOUTTHISPLACE. My boyfriend and I are OBSESSED. This place is literally one of the highlights of living in Marlborough. Everytime we come here the waitresses have always been friendly, the food has always been AMAZING and the prices are fair. We’re not drinkers so we don’t come here for the bar, we come to eat. We mostly get seafood here although on a few occasions we have ventured into other menu items. The fried clams? Ridiculously good. Better than seafood restaurants! I’m a huge scallop fan, I always get their baked or broiled scallops with the rice pilaf. Last time I got the stuffed baked scallops — a little heavy on the butter but still delicious all the same. Their side salads are HUGE. I have to pace myself when they bring it out so I don’t get too full before my meal comes. The veggies are super fresh and crisp. The clam chowder actually has big pieces of clam in it(shocker!) and the chili is also very good. On game days they have very, very, very cheap wings that are HUGE and YUMMY. I’m not very big on the famous Jordan wings but I love their original buffalo along with the honey bbq. This past weekend we went in for the Red Sox game and got 20 wings for $ 6. WHAT A STEAL. If you live around here, if you work around here, if you’re in the metrowest area, CHECKTHISPLACEOUT. You won’t regret it!

The husband and I moved to Marlborough last year and have driven by a bunch of times. It doesn’t look like much at all and we’ve always joked about going on a Marlborough dive bar pub crawl and including this place in our visits. Finally, the other night we decided to go in. We ordered a few beers from the bar and sat at one of those high tops in the middle of the bar area. I wasn’t very hungry, but I grabbed a menu just to see what they had. After I closed it and put it back down on the table the waitress came over and asked if I wanted to order something. On a whim, I figured, what the hell, I’ll order some wings. I asked if they had any flavors besides buffalo. She suggested Jordan wings and assured me they were awesome. THEYWEREAWESOME. Probably the best wings I’ve ever had. They were super crispy(just the way I like them) and the jordan sauce was awesome. It wasn’t spicy at all, but the flavor was great. Also, during any games it’s $ 6 for 20 wings. If for nothing more, I will be returning for the wings. Don’t go here if you’re looking to see people or be seen. Boston is for that. Go here if you’re looking for some pretty solid bar food, a quality neighborhood hangout, and cheap beers.

Like one of the reviewers below me, I did take a note of caution before heading to Sully’s. I’ll readily admit my natural preference for the pretentious and trendy, and nothing about Sully’s fits that bill. However, I did step foot inside and had a good experience. It’s a pub at it’s most simple. Easy no frills dining, with a bigger menu then I expected, and a polite and helpful(if not a little slow) waitress helping us along our way. There’s nothing fancy about Sully’s, and my friend and I sat at one of the high tops across from the bar, so I didn’t even get a chance to check out the dining room. Sometimes you want just good old comfort pub food, and Sully’s menu really did have everything I could’ve possible wanted on that day. We both opted to start with the clam chowder. It lacked that stick to your bones creamy richness that I crave in a chowder, it was terribly under seasoned. A little pinch of salt saved it though. We then split a plate of potato skins, after they were out of fresh mushrooms for the stuffed mushrooms we originally ordered. Which was done in a polite and great way. The skins were fresh, real potatoes, with extra crispy bacon, and cheese. On that rainy Thursday night, it was just what the doctor ordered. We ended up getting full after our heavy choices, and headed out. The food was good if not unspectacular, but it the waitress had that neighborhood bar warmth, that was so refreshing after walking past so many plastered industry smiles in the city.

Sullys gets 4 stars because it’s exactly what it says it is… a 1st edition pub. Don’t go here for upscale food, or frou frou anything. go because it’s local, the people are friendly, they have good beer on tap and some of my favorite pub food. We started going there when I worked in the area back in the late 90’s, when 6 of us would go for lunch and have 2 pints a piece and sp for lunch. In 2004 we all parted ways, and we left Sullys behind. About a month ago we decided it was time to return… and it did not disappoint. Our favorite waitress was still there, the grilled cheese was still fabulous, the clam chowder is still of the best I’ve ever had. it’s not fancy — everything is exactly the same as it was 13 years ago… and that makes me very happy.

No ribs? Having checked the menu online, they were my first choice. When I got there, they were crossed off, so I tried my 2nd choice, ribs and chicken thinking maybe they only had small portions of ribs and not racks. Wrong! No ribs at all for months I was told. So, I went with my 3rd choice– mixed grill. Got the tips regular, the chop cajun and the chicken terriyaki. The seasoning was severely lacking on the chop, and the chicken had a little sauce wiped on it at the end of cooking. But, all three were perfectly cooked. One little tub(1oz?) of sour cream for a baked potato? Had to ask for more. Dining partner had shrimp scampi. Shrimp were good but the pasta was mush and lacking flavor(garlic, anyone? It’s scampi, after all!). Not worth $ 16. And, had to ask for grated cheese! Mixed squash veg was good and the salad was fresh. Beer was cold.

Charles Bukowski once wrote ‘If you’re losing your soul and you know it, then you’ve still got a soul to lose.’ As I look around at the dried out, sun wrenched faces that line the bar every night, I can’t help but wish to say this to each of them. I always use my barometer for a quality bar based on what I think Bukowski would appreciate. Boston bars, even those that rape the Bukowski name, are small dogs in handbags. They are for the college crowds, with terrible music and little soul. Sully’s Bar is a rue of decades past, unrelenting in its ways. Weekends usually showcase local acoustic acts or DJs, ignore these efforts. The bar is a slender gait with little room to spare. The televisions play Boston sport teams to any inhabitants liking. Sully’s is run by some close family friends, and I have been venturing in and out since I was a young kid, capping off a rad day at the Labor Day parade. It has been passed on, in a way. I don’t want a bar where I can meet girls. I want a bar where I can exit gasps of shame, faint greifs of hysteria and endless toils of rain soaked nights. ‘Some people never go crazy, What truly horrible lives they must live.’

After reading the reviews… I thought Id stop and take a look. Driving through down town marlboro, I find the«street»(a back alley) :-/Not so great… but I press on. Driving by I see the broken glass door with a huge strip of duck tape holding it together, dirty curb appeal, neon beer signs in the window, shall I go on??? …I parked and slowly walked toward to door as a suspicious old man smoking outside the front door stares at me. I open the door and gasp. exactly what I thought it would be. Dark, dirty, broken down bar stools, old creepy men. NOWAY did I step across that entry way!!! HOWDIDTHISPLACEMANAGETOGET4STARS???

Sully’s is my Cheers — the bar where everyone knows your name. Or at least they used to when I lived around here. Now only the bartenders and my best friend know my name — and my beverage. Cheap, strong drinks(not kidding here — really strong) and the latest last call of any bar in the city — 2 am. Which means if you want to get a seat for last call, you need to be here before all the other bars empty at 1 am. Hometown bar, friendly people, and mirrored walls to make the place look bigger. They always show the game, and there’s always someone to fill you in on what you missed when you step away to use the facilities or make a call. This is always one of the places I look forward to visiting when I come back to see my friends and family.
