St Agnes Le Thi Thanh

One of my coworkers invited me to attend the Vietnamese Tet Trung Thu (Mid-​Autumn Festival) at his church to sample the goat dishes they specialize in. I had attended a Tet New Year’s festival in New Orleans East that I had enjoyed and I like Vietnamese food so I was quite happy to attend the celebration. This was quite a popular event despite the fact that it was a rainy night and many families were in attendance. There was live music, fireworks and plenty of silly string. I was treated like an honored guest and was served a huge spread of 5 different goat dishes which I feasted on until I though I was going to explode. Many toasts were made among the group at the table I was sitting, as Vietnamese tradition dictates, and I had a really great time despite not understanding much of what was going on as most of the conversations were held in Vietnamese. My only regret is I was so engorged with goat I didn’t get a chance to sample any of the other food on offer at this event. Very friendly people, good food and good times made for a really great experience at this church festival.
