An hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge, off the legendary State Route 1, awaits Nick’s Cove Restaurant, Oyster Bar and Cottages. Here, on the silvery shores of Tomales Bay adjacent to Point Reyes National Seashore, you will find a California destination so naturally beautiful and removed from the noise of modern life, you’ll begin to unwind and relax immediately. Our specialties include the best Clam Chowder on the West Coast, an amazing Crab or Shrimp Louie and freshly shucked oysters that will melt in your mouth. yummmm…
History
Established in 2007.
Nick’s Cove is a small settlement composed of buildings built mainly in the 1930s. Reveloped and reopened in 2007, you can now enjoy the revived Nick’s Cove Restaurant, Oyster Bar and the twelve luxury cottages located on historic Highway One on the east shore of Tomales Bay, south of the Walker Creek estuary. To the north stands the former railroad and fishing settlement of Hamlet and Miller County Park, today a public boat landing. To the south is the former agricultural and railroad settlement of Blake’s Landing. Nick’s Cove is one of the last remaining of many settlements on the bay which catered to tourists after the advent of automobiles and good roads and served as a depot for local fishermen and agricultural operations through its restaurant. After the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge in 1937, Marin County became a popular destination for motorists on weekends. This spawned dozens of businesses that catered to motoring tourists, offering food, cabins, boats and fishing.
