Great home made food and friendly owners. Love the pulled pork, bread pudding, fried chicken.

My friends and I came here after apple picking. It was perfect. The friend chicken is absurdly moist and delicious. My friends who had the pulled pork said it was also excellent. The owners are super friendly and nice. They even hilariously pulled cheesy pranks on us. There are picnic tables outside where you can sit and eat. It’s well worth a visit!

Fantastic homemade food. Had the fried chicken and pork off smoker. .OMG I luv these old country stores and all the people that work here are very courteous. The prices are extremely reasonable too. I love that you have some many sides to choose from. From comfort foods like skin on red smashed, mac and cheese to tabouleh all were very, very good.

A place that has just about anything you’ll ever need! Very friendly owner, the staff is nice and personable, and the food is amazing! Plus they also now have the best country fried chicken in town!

Final update. «Joe» who turns out to be one of the owner’s sons, made a fake call to my family(yeah he stalked me enough to find my parents home phone number) saying I had left my credit card at his store and that I should come and get it. After his multiple threats this was an obvious rouse to get me into his shop so he could actually make good on his threats. I haven’t been to this place since 2011 so there is no way they have my card. In addition, I called the shop and they denied having my card or calling my family, but eventually the woman on the phone blamed Joe. I eventually have just ended up calling the sheriff and they have paid these morons a visit. Tired of being harassed over something so incredibly idiotic, and tired of wasting time, but i figured it was at least worth posting on Unilocal ;-p Joe’s account now has seemingly been deleted off of Unilocal as with his fake reviews. There is a lesson here Joe, look hard and you might find it.

Went out to Marshall this morning to peruse a furniture/antique shop on the recommendation of the owner of the antique shop I visited in The Plains earlier in the week. But it did not occur to me that the place might not be open today — and as luck would have it — it was indeed closed. So while in Marshall, I grabbed some grub. Pulled into Nick’s — what is amusing about this little old country store is that outside — they’ve got one of these massive lighted highway traffic warning type signs on a trailer — blinking off the various specials! I saw the one for their breakfast sandwiches and was lured in. Once inside — you note that the place is an old time general store/convenience store — in the back is the deli area. I walked up and the proprietor greeted me with a smile and a pair of tongs — he handed me one hot, thick cut wedge of steak fry — I thought that was a nice touch. He did that for each person who came in to order food. I ordered a breakfast sandwich — sausage, egg, and cheese on wheat toast. I was amused that one of my bread options was to have the sandwich on a hamburger bun! They had all kinds of hot foods available as well as sandwiches — I was sorely tempted by their meatloaf — next time I am in Marshall I will have to get the Meatloaf and mashed potatoes. A large guy in overalls came in and ordered that — apparently it is quite tasty! I talked with them while they were making my food — they also own the Nick’s Deli off of U.S. 29 in Warrenton, VA. I took a pic of them — see the pix of the business. I sat in my car and wolfed down the sandwich — it was very good — I should have asked them to butter the toast in the sandwich — that would have made it a 5 star sandwich!
