Adams Auto Classics

I brought my 1966 Mustang in to have a front disc brakes installed, and a few very minor other repairs. Dave Adams, the owner seemed like a nice guy and told me it would be about a week or two at most. He specializes in vintage T-​birds so I felt I was in good hands. A week later he hadn’t gotten anything done. A week after that it was more excuses, then more and more. 43 DAYS later (no kidding) i got my car back. He didn’t event complete the repairs that were on the work order, one of which was fixing the speedometer. Turns out that was a $ 10 speedo gear part that I picked up at autozone and installed myself in 15 minutes! While he had the car he was supposed to adjust my carb and instead said it was problematic and advised I buy a new one. So I did. He put that in but it wasn’t adjusted correctly and still idled way too high when I picked up the car. He offered for me to bring it back and leave it overnight so he could adjust it when it was cold (clearly he just got to fixing the carb on day 42!) BTW after I brought my car elsewhere to have it properly attended to, my new mechanic discovered not only was the carb not adjusted but the spark plug cables were bad which is why it was missing in the first place and difficult to adjust the carb properly. While he had the car the starter died which I understand– its an old car. So he put a new one in. Later I discovered when he installed it he didn’t bother to replace the battery to starter cable which was clearly frayed and had exposed wire.
To top it all off, my brakes squeak. which I pointed out within a day of getting my car. He said they should get better as they wear in. They didn’t, so I reluctantly called him and asked when I could bring the car in so he could correct the problem, his response was «how about two weeks». So instead I will pay someone else to do right what he should have done in the first place.
