Bayview Optometrics is a Massachusetts licensed Cape Cod optometrist office located in Mashpee Commons. Since 1997, Dr. Alan Leavitt, Robin Genden, and their Cape Cod eye care team have earned a reputation for excellence in vision care and are proud to provide the best Cape Cod eye doctor services and designer eye wear available. We offer treatment for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatisms, computer vision eye strain, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and much more. We also provide eye exams, and have a full line of name brand eyeglasses to choose from. We are a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists, the American Optometric Association, and the Mashpee Chamber of Commerce. We are located in the center of Mashpee Commons. Dr. Alan Leavitt, OD

Dr. Leavitt received his BS in Zoology and a minor in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1983. In May of 1987, he was awarded a Doctorate Degree in Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. During his doctorate study he served as Class President for 2 years, and had clinical rotations in Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel, Specialty Clinic at the Boston Eye Clinic, and Brighton Marine U.S. Public Health Hospital. In addition, Dr. Leavitt has completed his Certification in Ocular Therapeutics, and in Advanced Optometric Practice Certification for treatments in Glaucoma.

Dr. Leavitt also continues to provide convalescent eye care to patients in nursing homes. Additionally, in 2006, Dr. Leavitt created Mobile Glaucoma Diagnostics, a company that provides access to the GDx Glaucoma Instrument to fellow Optometrists. Bayview Optometrics has a friendly, professional staff and a lovely store. I have been a patient of Dr. Leavitt for 25 years. He cares about his patients and takes the time to find the right solutions for your vision issues. Sure, you could save a little money by ordering online but you will never get the same personal service elsewhere. Dr. Leavitt gives me sample contacts to try to find the best & most comfortable fit. You’ll never get that kind of service elsewhere. If I had one issue, it would be a wish for later hours even one day a week for those of us who work the same hours the shop is open. Otherwise, I’m a customer for life.

Dr. Leavitt and his entire staff at Bayview Optometrics are highly professional, caring, helpful, and friendly. The eye exams are thorough and precise. Dr. Leavitt has fitted me with trifocal lenses for my glasses, and with bifocal contact lenses. I am very happy with both. My mother went to see Dr. Leavitt for an eye exam with a complicated prescription. She says she has never seen better! Highly recommended.

While this office is aesthetically pleasing, and boasts a large selection of frames, with a seemingly knowledgable staff, I am not particularly impressed with the customer service of late. I have had two eye exams here and have purchased eyeglasses and contact lenses on both occasions. At my last contact lens exam, I informed Dr. Leavitt of an issue I have been having where sometimes the lens will incur small tears, and I will have to prematurely discard the lens, and open a new pair, which leaves me short of my 6 month supply. He graciously told me that if this were to occur, to simply give the office a call and request a sample to «hold me over». This was something that had been done for me before, and I was always most appreciative.
However, after finding myself in this exact situation, and calling to inquire about the possibility of obtaining a sample pair until my tax refund came in and I could afford to place an order, I was told that the Dr. did not have any samples, but would I «like to place an order now?» No thank you. I know full well his office is stocked full of samples and it would be of no consequence to extend this courtesy, as has been done in the past. I was prepared to order new lenses for my eyeglasses, another 6 month supply of contacts, as well as Rx sunglasses when my refund came in in a few weeks. Now I will be shopping elsewhere.

We are new to the area, and in search of all new care providers, but at least we have found a good optometrist! The staff is friendly, and Dr. Leavitt is very personable. I asked him many questions about the area in general, and he took time out from the exam to make a list of the highlights and kept offering suggestions for us to check out. I appreciate the human touch. My husband will be checking out the office soon, too. No red flags here. The only negative is minor, and it’s about parking. Since this office is in Mashpee Commons, you are aiming for spots that shoppers want. Their office is right next to the post office, so that increases the car hopping, but there’s a parking lot behind the post office that you’ll be able to find a spot.

Thank you to Bayview Optometrics for excellent service and helping me out of a jam. I was on a vacation and ran out of contact lenses, I called around to a few places and the office staff here was courteous and friendly, which I can’t say the same for their competitors. I explained the situation and they said have my Dr fax a prescription and come in and they will help. When I arrived at their office, I was greeted by the same smiles I received on the phone and with patience during a busy day while waiting for the fax to come through. Once it arrived, Dr. Leavitt met with me and handed me some samples along with making sure after I put them in, they were comfortable and there were no issues. I also was not charged for the samples or the «exam» with him. Wow, if they were only closer to home I would go there for my needs. A big thank you to the entire office for their assistance and excellence in service.

This entire office delivers a great service and value to the community. Having been on Cape for fifteen years and just found Dr. Leavitt and Bayview two years ago… I will never go anywhere else.
Great staff and atmosphere built around taking care of their customers…
There is no doubt that there are cheaper ways to go… but as others have said, with the level of personal care, attention and true dedication to the community: My hard earned money will go here when I need eye care.

This place is amazing! My husband and I live in Hyannis but we drive to the Mashpee location for one reason… The BEST service we have ever received in a medical office of any kind!
Dr. Levitt not only does very thorough exams but also takes the time to find the right fit for your needs. I didn’t even know there was so many choices in contact lenses! I also loved the huge selection of frames to choose from. They had the more classic look my husband prefers and something unique and wild for me in a range of prices that can fit any budget. The staff is top notch. They gave honest opinions and did everything they possibly can to make us feel comfortable while we shopped.
It should be noted is the above and beyond service I witnessed while waiting for my frames to be tightened. An elderly woman walked in, clearly upset, having just failed her vision test to renew her license. Having never had vision issues she wasn’t sure what to do. DR. Levitt saw her right away. Now I don’t know about you folks but usually a new patient can wait months to be seen. He made time in his already busy day to ease this woman’s concerns when she was clearly distraught.
These are just a few of the many reasons we will be loyal customers for as long as we live on Cape.

As I said in my earlier review they are a life saver. I’ve been going here for many years. Just had my yearly appointment today and can continue to say that Bayview Optometrics has an exceptional staff with top notch service.
They helped me pick out a new pair of glasses, updated my contacts to a more comfortable pair. It’s just easy going here, you feel you are really taken care of.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Leavitt for several years. His thorough exams and his courteous staff ensures that our eye care needs are taken care of. One person’s petty comment on getting a screw fixed on their glasses is laughable. You should try going to a Lenscrafters at the mall.

While the quality is good their prices are outrageous. If you just stop in to get your glasses adjusted… unless you’re spending tons on money they treat you like they are doing you a favor to adjust your glasses. There are a lot more reasonable places to get your glasses without spending your monthly pension check.

Bayview Optometrics has a large selection of designer frames. The store is clean and aesthetically pleasing. They have a very good optometrist who seems very experienced, and a nice office staff. It is one of the better optometry stores on Cape Cod. The problem: You will pay far more, not just compared to any other place on Cape Cod, but compared to any other optometrist in Greater New England! The prices, the surcharges, and the extra costs at Bayview Optometrics, are beyond anything charged anywhere else. I’ve paid far less for luxury designer frames in Wellesley and downtown Boston! Any time you go in for a quick adjustment, or ask for something to be shipped, they bill you. No one else does this except for this place. After spending more than $ 1,000 on designer prescription glasses, do you think it’s fair to charge the customer shipping charges? Buyer beware, they might know what they are doing, but you will be taken to the cleaners. I’ll never go back.

Great experience. The office staff is professional and friendly. Dr. Leavitt is the best optometrist I’ve been to. He is very thorough and has state-​of-​the art diagnostic equipment. I always find great frames. My entire family goes to Bayview and is very satisfied. If you are looking for a good doctor and a large variety if frames to pick from, Bayview Optometrics is the perfect choice.

I can see clearly again now that I have been to Bayview Optometrics! The Doctor was great, he took his time with me and helped me understand what my eyes needed. The staff is very friendly and super helpful! They took a lot of time with me to help me pick out the right glasses. One of the most splendid collections of high quality frames I have ever seen. The staff and opticians are up to date on current trends, friendly and quick to resolve any problems. this credo seems to continue with the optometrist in the office too. I even walked away from the appointment with a laminated card with my script on the back! Its the little things the staff do that separate them from other offices in the area. 5 stars!
