Polar Cave is, hands down, our favorite place to get ice cream! Not only is their homemade ice cream absolutely delicious, but the owner Mark always make you feel at home right when you walk in. My 3-​year-​old is a big fan of the Cookie Monster ice cream, and I swear by the chocolate chip. Tons of great flavors to choose from, and very clean. My favorite summer memories are sitting on one of Polar Cave’s picnic tables and enjoying our ice cream after a long day at the beach.

Awesome ice cream, amazing made-​to-​order waffle cones, great service! We all had something different and all loved what we got. The folks behind the counter were great answering questions and fun to talk to, even at 8pm on a Tuesday! The best part are the fresh waffle cones and bowls — they are piping hot when they hand them over, filled with cold creamy ice cream. Some waffle cones leak out the bottom like crazy, but these were perfectly sealed and didn’t leak at all. Great for mess free eating! Make time to try this — truly the best on the Cape!

Best ice cream I’ve ever had. Mashpee Mud is delicious and they have a ton of other great home made flavors. The best part is the made fresh and hot waffle cones.

My favorite place to get ice cream, hands down! A ton of different flavors to choose from, homemade waffle bowls and great service. I’ve never had a bad experience here!
Some great things are their tiny cake cones, which are not only adorable but is the PERFECT for small children or when you just want a taste! I personally LOVE their chocolate peanut butter flavor which is nothing but creamy deliciousness!
I always get distracted by trying to make some sort of epic sundae but next time I would love to get around to trying their milkshakes!
Definitely put on your to-​do list when you come to the Cape!

I don’t get what all the hype is about. It was fine but not great… but it’s only ice cream. Not like you can really screw that up. Staff/​service was ok. I have been here once before prob 3 years ago and it was the same. Prob go back in another 3.

20min til closing on a Sunday night, and there’s a line out the door. The outdoor seating is packed. There’s about 10 picnic tables inside a grass and white gravel front yard within a fence. The outdoor lighting is sparse. I did notice that there was no umbrellas to shade the tables. The better to drive hot customers back in for a repeat cool down.
Upon entering, you are immediately hit with a fragrance of warm vanilla from the fresh made waffle cones. Then your eyes get overwhelmed by the Coca Cola collectibles EVERYWHERE. While gazing in aww, you see a very long variety list of delightful flavors. Another list is over there for pricing of the perfect vessel to enjoy this treat. Sundaes, cones, shakes, blizzards, etc. The employees spread out across the counter to help multiple customers at once.
We were a party of 7. Most of us stepped up, made a choice, got served, and stepped outside. I had to be the one to sample taste a couple flavors. Plenty of great tastes. Sugar Free and Gluten free choices. I settled on the MilkyWay in a waffle cone. We also picked up a punch card at the counter. We’re already 7 of 10 to a free cone. The owner (who was making waffle cones) eagerly accepted my Unilocal!offer for a free scoop. He loves what Unilocal has done for his business.
Once outside, we quickly realized that we forgot a treat for our fourlegged loved one. She ran back in to ask for a sample spoon of vanilla. The manager again stepped forward Knowing it was for a pet. «How many pounds is he?» He whispers in the girls ear, and off she goes. The manager talks her up about the dog, until he smiles and hands her a very small vanilla scoop with whipped cream, and a puppy paw treat on top for free. What great attention to detail.
We will be back, and tell everyone.

After visiting the children’s museum I figured let’s grab some ice cream. It was not a mistake to try this place, they have very eclectic environment, warm and inviting. From the recyclable ski fence to the Elvis clock there is plenty to see here. Tips to the mummy’s and daddy’s do try the milkshakes OMG! That’s why I give them 5 stars the milk shakes are the best I’ve had.

Not sure why this place has great reviews. The ice cream isn’t very good and the sugar cones were so stale we had throw it out. Almost chewy they were so stale. The portions were huge though so if you want a lot of mediocre for the price, this is your place.

I liked that they make waffle bowls, not just waffle cones, and the waffle was made fresh right in front of me for my sunday. I went with the cookie monster, which was just blue dyed vanilla– a bit of a let down. The chocolate was very good. My wife liked her mint icecream. They had wet walnuts, which I love. Seating here was a bummer because it was raining. They have picnic tables outside, but that wasn’t an option, so I had to go with a very small stool next to a 2 foot high counter. This was obviously designed for kids, but was my only option in the rain.
We took home a pint of vanilla for rootbeer floats. It was good, but not great. Overall, I’d go back to try more flavors. This place has the goods, but there are a few better in the cape.

Update…
Initial visit (and review) was an «on the way» stop. Completely random. Wanted ice cream, and the shop looked interesting.
Our next visit was an intentional 35 minute, out of the way, drive. Simply knowing that perfect ice cream existed meant that nothing else would do while we were still on the Cape.
By the way, give the Orange-​Pineapple ice cream a try… it is otherworldly.

Best ice cream on the Cape. Hands down. #TeamPolarCave, all the way.

Mark did a sundae bar at our wedding this past weekend. He was, by far, the most accommodating and involved vendor out of everyone we hired. The guests loved the ice cream, and he even packaged some up for us to enjoy after the wedding.

I was craving ice cream so I stopped by on our way back to East Falmouth. It’s a cute little ice cream shop. You can easily park in their lot. There was a pretty amazing Coca Cola collection. If you visit, you’ll know what I am talking about. The staff was super friendly.
I had a Mashpee Mud-​flavored ice cream on a waffle cone. Mashpee Mud consists of coffee ice cream with fudge, dark chocolate chips, Oreos, and almonds. It was delicious! There was a nice balance with all the toppings and ice cream. Nothing overpowered the other. I generally don’t eat coffee ice cream, and I enjoyed this cone a lot. The waffle cone was made fresh, so it was warm when they handed it to you. There was a good scoop of ice cream too. It is worth your money. ¹⁰⁄₁₀
You have to visit if you’re in Cape Cod!

Honestly the ice cream I had here was one of the best I’ve ever had. As soon as I drove up and caught just a glimpse of the parlor my mood instantly boosted. We arrived a couple of minutes before closing and were worried we would be a bother to the workers causing them to stay later but when we arrived the line was out the door and the workers were encouraging people to keep coming in; the workers had great costumer service. I would recommend the Mashpee Mud ice cream flavor in one of the made to order waffle cones/​bowls, it was just spectacular.
Overall I just really loved it.

This weekend while visiting family on the Cape we decided to stop in at Polar Cave to have some of their delicious ice cream.
Since it was a Saturday night in July, the place was packed, but the staff here did a great job of getting people in and out quickly.
For our ice cream choices my niece bought the death by chocolate, my fiancé bought the chocolate chip and I bought the no sugar added coffee. All three flavors were delicious, and the waffle cone that my fiancé had was incredible as well.
The staff here was pleasant the whole time, and I enjoyed listening to them work with some more difficult clients. That being said, not once did any member of the team lose their professionalism.
In the end the Polar Cave has to be one of the best ice cream parlors on Cape. This is one of my yearly stop when visiting home, and I am always excited to see what new Coca-​Cola collectible they have.

Mom and I had been to Polar Cave once before when they had a location in Yarmouth. I had the most delicious waffle cone ever — made right before my eyes and served hot. We vowed to return to this awesome place so that Mom could have a waffle cone of her own.
Although the Yarmouth location is no longer in business, the flagship Mashpee store is alive and well. Mom was determined to have a waffle cone of something, but what normally stops her from getting waffle cones at ice cream shops is the size. She tends to like a smaller cone, but luckily for her Polar Cave makes two sizes of waffle cones. She decided to get a small cone filled with black raspberry chip while I chose heavenly hash.
The inside of Polar Cave is tiny, but really cute. I especially liked seeing the different Coke bottles from all over the world. I also loved the smell of the waffle cones. It hits you in the face as soon as you walk in. My total for the two small waffle cones came to $ 9.40.
As we started in on our cones, Mom and I remembered why Polar Cave is one of the Cape’s most popular ice cream parlors. Mom’s black raspberry chip — which was highly recommended online — was loaded with thick, chocolaty chunks. The ice cream itself was creamy and flavorful and Mom loved every bit of her crunchy waffle cone. You would think the ice cream would be melting all over the place due to the warm cone, but Polar Cave sticks a piece of chocolate at the bottom of the cone so that you don’t leave the area covered in ice cream. Plus, an added shot of chocolate is always awesome.
My heavenly hash was … wait for it … heavenly. It was filled with marshmallow, almonds and delicious chocolate chunks like Mom’s ice cream had. Sometimes chocolate chunks in ice cream can be overwhelming, but the chocolate itself was extremely tasty and took the vanilla and chocolate ice cream to the next level. It had been years since I had heavenly hash, so seeing it on the menu — and then eating it — brought back a lot of memories.
If you’re on the Cape and looking for a sweet treat, look no further than Polar Cave. They have a flavor for everyone and the waffle cones are out of this world.
