The Groovalottos are a soul-funk band of seasoned and award-winning studio and touring soul, funk, jazz and blues players. Said to play with their souls instead of their hands, The Groovalottos are contemporary Cherokee, Choctaw, and Wampanoag ‘Song Keepers’ bringing strong medicine in the form of soul-funk.
The Groovalottos consist of Eddie Ray Johnson, drums and vocals; Mwalim «DaPhunkee Professor», keyboards and vocals; and Red Bone Johnson on bass and vocals.
The Groovalottos are available for gigs, events, sessions, festivals, powwows, private functions, workshops, and residencies. Also offering lectures on Afro– Native music
History
Established in 2011.
The core members of the band began jamming together in early 2010 and began playing out in 2011. The band re-structured itself in 2013 into the incarnation that it’s in now.
