Rosa’s Pizza

literally the best pizza i have tasted so far. the chicken parm garlic knot could use a bit more sauce — it’s on the dry side. other than that, it was fantastic. i always pick up to go, my family loves the pizza. & the garlic knots. keep it up Rosa’s!

I expected much better given all the hype that this place gets. The pizza was OK. I’ve definitely had a lot better. It was quite greasy and even a bit soggy. My boyfriend ordered a penne a la vodka and I enjoyed that much more than the pizza. it was delicious (for pizzeria pasta) :) I wouldn’t consider this place a MUST GO, and if I go back it won’t be for the pizza. As for the pizzeria itself — it’s pretty spacious and looks nice from the outside. The inside was pretty clean and the service was good, nothing to complain about since we just ordered our food, ate, and left.
I think I’ll stick to my local Gino’s or Gabys pizza for now. Better quality pizza in my opinion.

Best Sicilian slice in Queens. All the other pies are great too especially the Grandma!
Pasta dishes are good to but not on the level of the Pizza. Service is the one weak point and tends to be on the slow side but is on par with this type of restaurant. I just hope that someday they will deliver.

If I was ever in the area then I would normally stop by here for pizza.
My selection (s): Sicilian, Classic Cheese, White.
Setting (³⁄₅): Doesn’t look the best but it’s not too bad. It has an older feeling, sort of dingy. It’s just one of those places that you pop in for a slice or two and be on your way out.
Service (³⁄₅): It’s good, a pizzeria doesn’t really have much interaction going for them outside of ordering and then picking up your food.
Taste (³⁄₅): The pizza is good, just a quick pick me up kind of meal. Nothing really outstanding or brag worthy. They also have subs and pasta, I have never tried those.
Time (⁴⁄₅): You get your food pretty quickly if it’s just pizza. All they have to do is throw it into the oven to heat it up again.
Price ($): Cheap, it’s a good price for what you get.
Worth revisiting?: No.

Anyone who doesn’t say Rosa’s doesn’t have the best Sicilian slice in New York, just doesn’t know pizza. Their Sicilian’s are what they call upside-​down slices. The sauce is on the top of the cheese. With a little bit of grated cheese with their delicious sauce, every bite is a bit of heaven. The crust is perfect. Crispy on the bottom, but soft on top. Most people don’t like the corners of the pies, because they have two sides with crusts. Not in this case. The crusts are where the sauce gathers up in a trench along the side of the slice. Other than their Sicilian pie, they also make great rolls, garlic knots & even their specialty slices are great. Never had one I didn’t like.
The only negative I have about this place is the workers. Not to say they’re bad, but they’re really not too friendly. They’ll give you a hi & that’s about it. But I overlook this for two reasons.
1: Their usually so busy, so they don’t have time to chat. Don’t take this as a sign you’ll be waiting long for your food. They are fast no matter the crowd.
2: THE BEST SICILIAN SLICE IN N.Y.

It’s roses pizza, it’s been around for a very long time for a reason. it’s quality stuff right here good pizza to the core from the people who make it to how it’s made

One of the best pizzerias in queens. Slices are nice and big and you get your money’s worth.

I grew up coming here loved it and had some very fond memories of rosa’s unfortunately went here it was awful. the pizza came to us fresh out the oven and it smelled funny. I took a bite and there was no doubt in my mind that the cheese was straight up spoiled. we also ordered mozzarella stick. and they were soggy and disgusting. Keep in mind we sat down and yet this was still the case. We brought to the servers attention went to the back asked if we wanted a replacement but that was it. No apology no reassuring that we would get they food back to us fresh and not spoiled. So we declined paid for the soda and still tipped and not one manager stepped out to even rectify it. It was just disappointing at the very least they could provide a fresh pie with fresh cheese.

If you like pizza with lots of oil and very greasy this is the perfect place for you, but even if you like the pizza like that, it doesn’t taste very good. There are other pizzerias around that are much better.
The place looks nice from the outside, but when you get in it’s just meh. The place is not the cleanest one, but not the worst.
They don’t take credit card, so make sure to have cash with you.

Seriously, been saying this for years… the best pizza in Queens. Hands down.
They’re not shy with the cheese and plenty of sauce. Crunchy crust. Plenty of different toppings but getting down to basics, they’re Sicilian is all you expect.

This restaurant takes cash only! Does this have anything to do with an ATM in the dining room that charges $ 2 to get cash? I’ve seriously never seen a restaurant not take credit cards, but anyways I went ahead and withdrew the cash and paid the fee.
The Pepperoni pizza was good, about the same as any other NY pizza place. The pasta pizza was very bland, almost no flavor. The place needs to be updated and maybe have a dining room overhaul. The staff was nice and friendly, very helpful in explaining the menu. Can’t say I would recommend this place.

Really good pie. It was a bit greasy, but was still worth eating! Because of its location, it was hard to find parking, but once we got there we found it worth it!

Try the caesar salad pizza– It’s amazing. Also highly recommended are the garlic knots. Great place, pretty quick service, clean, and family-​friendly. Only con is no parking and sometimes it can get hard to find parking in the surrounding neighborhood (more so in the night)

Holy crap their Cesar Salad Slice is the best slice of pizza I’ve ever had. So worth the extra 15 minutes to get a fresh slice.

Honestly I always pass by here all the time since I was a kid but I never actually walked in this pizzeria just bc tbh I was a little scared of walking in to order a pizza just bc everyone looks scary LMAOO. But Yeaaah finally have the gut to walk in and ordered myself a pizza. The first time I walked in I ordered two slices one w pepperoni and the another one w chicken buffalo something like that. They both good but the chicken buffalo was a little too messy to eat with and the chicken kept falling. The second time I walked in I got a regular slice which was okay but it was somewhat lack of tomato sauce… maybe bc it was 1AM & They just give out leftover? I feel like this place is always compared by Joeys but I gotta say they are both different. But overall I will come back and try others.

I have been seriously down on Queens Pizza lately but Rosas was able to flip me.
The Sicilian is great literally great.
Pepperoni wheel is a must get.
Chicken parm panini is a chicken parm made out of garlic knots. It could have used some more sauce but it was near perfect.
Ravioli slice sounded disgusting but it worked and worked well.
Garlic knots stole the show for me. They were the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked and seasoned.

I got to say, Rosa’s Pizza is consistently on the money! Every style of pizza pie they offer is delicious and flavorful. Even their entrees are restaurant quality.
I’ve been frequenting Rosa’s since the late 80s. Their level of quality has unchanged as far back as I can remember. An achievement that has held strong over a very long period of time.

A Maspeth Staple, Rosa’s has every type of Pizza you can fathom. Always a small brisk line of people ordering. My favorite slices are the Grandma Slice, and their Chicken and Tomato slice.

Queens pizza = a lot better than Suffolk County

Rosa’s Pizza is delicious. I came here one day with my fiancé as we were in the neighborhood (we live in Bed-​Stuy). They had a variety of specialty slices; it was pizza galore! The staff was a little crazy the day we came by. Upon walking in, a sea of customers suddenly showed up at the door. The lady behind the cash register was so confused as we tried telling her what we ordered. We had to repeat ourselves three times.

For Queens pizza, not bad! Not my favorite, but they do have some interesting ones — chicken francese, ravioli and more.
I live in Brooklyn and my boyfriend lives in Queens. So of course L&B Spumoni Gardens (Brooklyn) has my heart. He told me about this spot and I had to try it out when I heard that they have a similar Sicilian slice (melting the cheese on the bottom and topping it with the sauce).
The Verdict — eh. I’m not too big a fan of the sauce here and the crust was too crunchy for me. Like pretty much burnt crunchy.
HOWEVER, their other slices were alright! The chicken francese came with a lot of chicken and some sauce on top. I wish it were a bit more lemony, but the flavors are there and this heavy pizza doesn’t fall apart as you try to eat it. We also had the ravioli pizza! I’ve never seen it anywhere else. There could have been a bit more sauce and the bottom could have been crispier, but the ravioli was on point! I would also recommend their rice balls. They are monster sized and are filled with cheese and more.

The specialty slices are where its at. The Grandma and Ravioli Slice is to die for.
Downside is they only accept cash and don’t deliver.

Every visit to Rosa’s reminds me of why NY pizza is touted as the best. The thin and crunchy crust and just the right proportion of toppings always satisfies any pizza craving whether for lunch, dinner, or late-​night snack. The slices are larger than most comparable eateries and are very fairly priced. While I’ve tried several different pizzas and dishes at this place my two favorite slices are the salad slice ($ 3.25) and the chicken salad slice ($ 3.75). Notice a theme here?
The salad slice comes with a bed of shredded lettuce and is topped with olives, onions, and huge slices of tomatoes. I usually also dress the slice with a side of marinara, which they will provide for you upon request without charge.
While a chicken salad slice may be considered rather mundane, details are everything when it comes to making something ordinary, extraordinary. To start, the chicken salad slice is HUGE because they apportion 6 slices to a pie. In addition, the ratio of salad to chicken makes this slice nearly perfect. Lastly, it is topped with just enough Caesar dressing and a sprinkle of parmigiana cheese.
The only reason this place gets one star short of the full endorsement is because whether it’s a lack of toilet paper, dirty toilets, or loose door knobs, there seems to be something consistently awry with the bathrooms. As a guy who isn’t so picky, I can deal. But for others it may be more off putting.

Fast and friendly service. The pizza is good but my only complaint is that its not cooked enough on the bottom or its soggy. They also dont deliver and it’s cash only. But the prices are great. Oh and there’s no beef patties. Which is my all time favorite.

OK — Now just take it easy. .. .. Yes, in fact — this potentially may be the best pizza in the City of New York! No joking around! — I can tell you Cop & Fire come from all over the City from various commands and fire houses to pick up many of their famous sicilian pies.
The staff/​service is exceptional. Nobody has an attitude. People are friendly — you get a small town feel when you are there. The Owner — «Mauricio» is a gentleman. Its always a pleasure to see him.
You are insane if you don’t get the «Grandma Slice» — OMG
Alright. .. . So, this is fact may indeed the best Pizza in the City of New York — Likely the Best Pizza in Queens as well too.
When you visit — tell them, «Dr. Lou» sent you! — BTW — they have excellent Heroes and Dishes as well. Amazing place!
Don’t fear the Parking Situation — you will get something!

Because we tarred the food after we brought the food home something was already wrong.
The reason for getting pizza my wives Caesar slice was not in the box.
Wife wad upset for rest of the dinner.
But everything tasted good the…
White slice, chicken and mushroom, pepperoni, sausage roll, garlic nots, Abs the mushroom and olive slice.
They had a long line biggest I seen in a pizzeria in a while. But they handled it good with fast service. But because of missing that one slice I had to drop it to a for star.
You need ti verify the orders as well add the customer.

After living in Queens for over 10 years, I was ashamed that my husband had to introduce me to Rosa’s. Great selection of inventive and delicious specialty slices (I had never seen a lasagna slice anywhere!), but even the basics are superb. Sounds insane, but it’s harder than you think to find a really good regular slice, even in NY! Rosa’s regular sets the standard for all others, and their sicilian and grandma are also incredible.
I must also give a shoutout to Rosa’s hot dishes. From chicken and veal parm to baked pastas, unbelievable meatballs, and amazing paninis and heroes, you can’t go wrong. Everything is consistently good every time. Special mention to the fried calamari, which somehow manages to stay crispy and delicious even after the ride home.
Which brings me to the only drawbacks. Must admit that I have only ever gotten takeout from Rosa’s. Firstly, because they don’t deliver, which is a bummer, but they’re in a position of such loyal popularity that they don’t have to. Fair enough. However, the eat in space, even on the restaurant side, doesn’t really invite you to sit for a warm, congenial meal. The parlor side is standard issue, which I have no problem with. But the restaurant side is a super bright, spartan space, with no separation from the parlor traffic (which is mighty, they are awesome) so it’s LOUD! Difficult to enjoy a meal when you’re on display like that. In fact, much as he loves Rosa’s, my husband refuses to even try eating in, even for a casual lunch. An overreaction, in my opinion, but I get his point.
That said, the food alone is beyond worth the trip, wherever you may be coming from. A definite destination for any fan of Italian food!

Their Sicilian slices are the ish. I’m not regularly a fan of Sicilian, but this time I wound up stealing one of hubby’s slices. Their regular slices are great, but their pepperoni slices are very greasy.
I appreciate that they are open late and cater to fatties such as myself. 1 star off for the guys having no personalities at all — they’re always just straightforward, no hi, bye, thank you, or anything.

Rosa’s is a staple for Maspeth and Middle Village kids. It’s close to the highway but difficult to get to on public transportation. Closest is the bus. Grandma slice is pretty good. I’ve gotten the cesar salad slice a few times and for some reason it always makes my stomach turn :-(
I don’t not like Roas’s but I much prefer either Joey’s Pizza somewhat across the street. There is ample setting in this location and there are a few Rosa’s pizza, another on Metro in Middle Village and one in Ridgewood/​Glendale area.

Rosas had been in business since 1975 for a reason. Over 30 different kinds of pizza, always fresh, and fast service!

I came here all the time when I used to live in Maspeth, but I find myself here time and time again… even now, when I live nearly half an hour away. I’ve never walked into Rosa’s and found it dead — they’re always taking calls, making fresh pies, or taking orders from those who step off Grand Avenue into this humble pizza spot. Does this surprise you? It should! Who on earth makes regular trips into MASPETH, QUEENS for their pizza needs? This girl certainly does, and there are three reasons for their reigning popularity — quality, quantity, and variety.
1) Quality — Say what you want about slices outside Manhattan; these are banging bites of pizza. I don’t exactly know what happens when they put my slices into the oven, but they always reemerge with a supernaturally crispy crust and (if you order it), gooey cheese that has actually threatened to burn my fiancé’s lip in the past with its melty tendrils. I usually tend to my vegan needs with a salad slice, which are a common sight in several of my go-​to joints but Rosa’s does it best. If you are into your veggies, take my advice — ask for it warmed. They will throw it in there for about thirty to sixty seconds, the vegetables will (magically) stay fresh and crisp, but that crust will get warm and crunchy. It is the SHIZNIT if you’re a veggie lover and surprisingly well-​loved enough that I’ve seen them run out of it more than once (and then I’m devastated beyond words when they do).
2) Quantity — The triangular slices here are huge. Yes, they’re more expensive than the dollar slices you’ll find popping up all over the city, but you get what you pay for here. My hungry eyes ordered two slices today and by the end, I felt like I was going to pop out of my pants. The square slices (like the grandma slices that are so very popular here) are more standard in size but my fiancé ordered it and it seemed as if they’ve packed it in with the sauce and cheese (think deep dish but better, because c’mon…Chicago’s got nothing on us).
3) Variety — When you first come in, you have to line up along the long display of pizzas and you know they’ve got to have a lot of pizzas in the display if the space can host 10+ people. What’s your flavor of the day? Veggie or salad slice? Ziti or ravioli slice? Grandma or bbq chicken? If pizza’s not your thing, they have plenty of rolls, garlic knots, and pasta dishes that can fill you up just fine.
Obviously, some things are better than others. If you go into any pizza place expecting to order pasta, you’ve set yourself up for a supremely mediocre dinner. Having made that mistake several times here, I can say with some certainty — Rosa’s is no exception.
In sum: don’t miss the pizza; pass on the pasta.
