Salon Ambiance Hair Gallery

My friend and I went to this salon because her friend recommended it to her. We are both natural with different textures and hair length. We wanted to get a press and curl done. We walked into the shop, it’s small but well kept. We were greeted by one of the hairdressers and she was very sweet and had a short consultation with us. She asked me what I wanted and I told her a press and curl and she said that was fine, but she turned to my friend and said that it wasn’t possible for her to straighten her hair because it was too short; she said the only thing she could do is a rinse. My friend has a tight curl hair pattern, where her hair shrinks to a short fro when it is actually shoulder length. You will not be able to see the true length of the hair unless it is stretched. My friend and I were both so shocked that they told us they couldn’t flat iron her hair; if it wasn’t for the fact that I had to be somewhere later that afternoon, we would have left and gone to another hair salon.
They started doing my hair, and proceeded to spout out advice to my friend, as to why her hair was growing slowly? Finally, Alexia the head stylist, came over to check the length of my friends hair, and saw that her hair was indeed long enough to straighten. I watched as they joked about their minor mistake. Well, it wasn’t a minor mistake. It was hurtful, and I could tell my friend was very hurt by the way they were treating her, asking her why her hair hasn’t grown? Not very professional.
Nonetheless, they did a good job on the press, both our hair got pretty straight. The stylist were nice, however, I would not go back because they don’t seem to have a lot of knowledge about natural hair. They also seemed shocked that neither one of us are habitual pressers and that we wear our hair natural most of the time. If you are relaxed, then go here! If you are natural, this is not for you! Find a salon that caters to natural hair!
