Seniors Helping Seniors® offers a variety of non-​medical in home services for those seniors who are having difficulty with daily living activities remain in their own home and community longer by matching them with loving, caring, active seniors who have the «heart of a volunteer». It’s a way to give and receive — a win win situation. Some of the services we offer are Companionship, Homemaker Services, Meal Preparation, Laundry, Personal Grooming, Transportation, Yard Work and Handyman Services.

History

Established in 1998.

WHO WE ARE: Seniors Helping Seniors® in-​home services was co-​founded by Kiran and Phillip Yocum, created from Kiran Yocum’s personal mission to care for those who unable to care for themselves. Before coming to the United States from India, Kiran worked with Mother Teresa for 14 years. Currently, Kiran serves has our organizations chairwoman and Phillip has the President/​CEO of our organization.

Manager

I was born right here in Southwest Michigan the 9^th of 11 children. I have been married to my husband Joe for 35 years. We have 3 sons who have added 3 beautiful daughter-​in-​laws to our family. And we are the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren.

From the first time I read about Seniors Helping Seniors® I was excited about their unique concept of in-​home care. I had the privilege of observing my mother into her 80’s along with her best friend, Evelyn live out this concept. Every week mom and Evelyn would visit one of their peers who were either homebound, living in an assisted living facility or nursing home. They would help them with errands, take them to lunch, bring lunch in or just play a game. They offered companionship along with help. It was Mom’s and Evelyn’s way of staying productive, giving back and showing God’s love. So when the time came that mom needed help the family knew how important it was for her health and quality of life to help her stay in her own home.
