Upcountry Mobile Mechanic

The little message on this screen says not to write a review if you are connected in any way to the owner of the business… problem is, Rich has so much heart that he CONNECTS with his customers in such a great way, so I DO feel connected to him! I’m going to write anyway. :-)
Rich always takes the time to provide amazing service and really cares about helping and doing a good job. He was my mechanic from ’98 when I got to Maui (driving a biodiesel beetle) up until last year when I got a Leaf. The one thing that made me sad about buying a Leaf was that I wouldn’t be able to take my car to Rich anymore.
However, just last week I had a scare when I accidentally put windshield wiper fluid in my anti-​freeze container. I first called the dealer and they wanted me to have it towed to them so they could flush it out (to the tune of about $ 350). A little voice told me to call Rich and he took the time out of his day to talk to me and assure me that there was nothing to worry about. He absolutely didn’t have to do that, AND I really really appreciate him for caring enough to donate that time to me.

Collette, so sorry to hear about your problem four years ago. In spite of your review, I took my Toyota Highlander to Rich and he did an excellent job. He’s not mobile anymore, but has a shop just past the Pi’iholo Ranch zipline. There are some rip-​off mechanics on Maui, but Rich is not one of them.
