I was involved in a car accident (not at fault) three years ago. Car totaled, but initially seemed no one seriously injured, so had no thoughts of retaining attorney. Turned out I sustained a traumatic brain injury, which took a very long time to have correctly diagnosed and begin treatment. In meantime, was unable to return to work, lost job & health insurance, and racked up huge medical expenses. Received very little assistance from MY insurance company. Finally consulted an attorney. He refused case because two-​year statute of limitations would be up in a few months. His advice: contact at least ten other attorneys, beg one to take my case, and maybe get lucky enough to have legal representation! I left that conversation in tears. That evening, got on-​line to follow advice to contact law firms. Early next morning, received call from Elk & Elk. Explained situation to caller, she asked questions. Stated an attorney would be assigned and s/​he would contact me soon. I was shocked it was so quick & easy, repeated what other attorney said. Unfailingly patient with my memory lapses & confusion (from head injury), constantly reassuring, answered all questions (even those I felt were kind of dumb) thoughtfully and completely. Both she and my attorney, Craig, carefully prepared me before interactions with opposing counsel. Craig definitely knew his stuff, too! When we finally got to mediation with my (former) insurance company, sitting with him in the mediation room, listening to him negotiate on my behalf, I felt very reassured that I had someone in my corner fighting for me and my best interests!
