My family and I stopped in on a Sunday evening for a birthday celebration. We made a reservation for 7:30, arrived on time and were seated promptly. Our table was ready to go! Our waitress came right over, handed us our menus and took our drink order. What a doll she was! So sweet, and so attentive! There were 7 of us so we ordered the sampler to split. All the dips/spreads were delicious! I could have eaten the Tzatziki sauce with a spoon! Have no fear, if you run out of pita(home made pita) to dip, they will gladly bring you over some more! No extra charge! For dinner we ordered various meals. The gyro platter, the roasted chicken special, the shrimp special, the spinach pie, and the moussaka, just to name a few! Everything was delicious! The moussaka was awesome! Layers of eggplant, meat and of course beschmel sauce — heaven! The service is great! You can tell that they take pride in their food and their attention to detail is on point! Atmosphere– bright orange walls! Makes you happy, instantly! If you’re in the area, you should most certainly stop by! Your tastebuds will thank you! Enjoy!

Beautiful, clean and delicious place for lunch. Everything we tried had good flavor and size: Greek salad, spanakopita, french fries, souvlaki. Very sweet service.

We’ve eaten here twice as pick up orders. Once on a Friday night and another on a Thursday night. Our first time ordering, which was a Friday, the place was packed. Thursday wasn’t busy. I’m not much of a review writing person but I had to post about their pasta dish called pastichio. It was horrible. Best to stay away. Pasta was over cooked. Ground beef left a lot to be desired as for flavor/taste. And the bechamel«sauce» was disgusting white crap all over the pasta. I threw it out. What a waste of money. The gyro is salty. Some may like it. My boyfriend enjoyed the spinach pie. Their side salad is good. They don’t put traditional dressing. Just olive oil on it with feta and oregano. Their chicken soup was okay. My boyfriend enjoyed it. The first time we order the chicken souvlaki it was more juicy and tender. The second time it was a bit dry. Their rice has red bell pepper in it. It is tasty. Their fries are not bad. Their have oregano on them. Only other complaint is their food is heavy. Caused some stomach discomfort for me.

We ate here last Sunday after reading reviews on Unilocal.Angelo’s Greek Taverna has been open for 3 months and it is a great little restaurant! I had the lamb chop special with lemon potatoes and zucchini sides and my spouse had the chicken stuffed with spinach. Our portions were sizable and delicious. We loved starting with the warm pita bread, hummus, and the chicken soup which came with the entrée. The soup had a tangy lemon flavor and was also delicious. We took the recommendation of another reviewer and had the rice pudding. It was so creamy and like everything else we ordered. .. delicious. We were there around 8:30 on a cold Sunday night and Angelo’s was empty. Not seeing anyone else in the restaurant we hesitated going in. Needless to say, we were glad that we decided to eat there. Not only was the food great but because they weren’t busy we were able to chat with Tali. The restaurant is owned by her husband and her brother-in-law, who previously had a restaurant in Athens. Having recently been to Greece we felt that we had stumbled upon the real thing and noted that just as in Greece, good quality and freshness is very important to them. Pride and love are definitely two key ingredients in their recipe for success. N.B. Tali recommended making a reservation if you wish to dine on a Friday or Saturday night.

I was looking for some Greek food on a Sunday night last month but my go to spot, Sofia’s in Hasbrouck Heights, was closed. I did a Unilocal search and Angelo’s popped up. I was quite shocked because I live so close and never saw this place but the few reviews I saw were very good so I gave it a shot and I’m so happy I did. This place scored three major points with me before I even stepped foot inside. It’s very close to my house, it’s open on Sundays, and it’s a BYO. We were the only ones in the restaurant but many people kept coming in to pick up orders. I ordered the Moussaka which came played very lovely with a cinnamon stick and flower on top. It was rich and delicious with all the great spices it should have and it was enough for dinner plus another meal. My companion ordered the Gyro platter which came with more meat than I’ve ever seen anywhere. Along with rice, vegetables in pita bread, it was enough for her to have three meals! Everything was fantastic, the staff was very very friendly and gracious. We will surely be back soon.

Awesome food, the service was efficient and friendly, and best if all it is at a great price point. They deliver too!

Excellent food ! Try the fried veggie patties they’re not on the menu ! #Secretmenu also have the dolma ! They’re very flavorful, oh and unlimited pita bread. The only down fall is nasty Jersey water.

So, I really like Sofia’s in HH but I think the grilled octopus appetizer here at Angelo’s might be a bit better! Other than that, my experience is that the two restaurants are in a neck-n-neck race as far as quality and abundance of food! I can understand why the great reviews are piling up fast for this spot. Definitely give them a try. Convenient parking lot is a plus too. And they deliver! Awesome!

Everything we had was delicious. Only 4 stars since there wasn’t much seafood on the menu. The moussaka was a great substitute. Greek coffee very tasty.

Finally got to have lunch and it was awesome, awesome, awesome! Food was deliciously seasoned and plentiful. You really should try the grilled octopus and EAT the beautiful edible flower! We also tried the lemon chicken soup-Yum. Souvlaki was great, vegetables grilled to perfection. Rice pudding really good. Very nice waiter named Jason, very attentive and made fabulous recommendations for us «newbies». Can’t wait to go back this weekend. Oh, plus it’s BYO. Can you say HURRAY?

This new Greek restaurant in Maywood is worth a visit. It is located right on Maywood Ave, but there is a private parking lot which is convenient. Décor inside is simple but nice. I had lunch there over the weekend. I enjoyed the complimentary seasoned pita and red pepper hummus. I ordered the chicken souvlaki in pita for my main, which came with fries on the side. The fries were nicely seasoned with some herbs and a light coating of parmesan. The souvlaki in pita was delicious — the tsatziki sauce, tomatoes, lettuce and grilled chicken hit the spot. Portions are large — my friend ordered a small Greek salad with gyro meat and took home about half. I want to return and try more of the menu.

Word of mouth is everything and my co-worker heard about this restaurant from someone else in our office, so we decided to give it a try. It’s pretty close to our office, which is always a factor since we are only allotted a limited time for lunch. Angelo’s Greek Taverna is located near the train tracks and has a private parking lot. When we stopped in on Monday, we were immediately seated and the server greeted us right away. He was super attentive and friendly, and helped us pick out items from the menu. The food was awesome and plentiful. My co-workers ordered different items off the menu(gyro served in pita) and I ordered the gyro platter. I had so much food that I had enough to bring home for another meal. The gyro meat was super tasty and tender, perfectly seasoned. The vegetables were grilled nicely and garnished with a balsamic glaze. The pita bread was warm and well-toasted, served with roasted red pepper hummas. Everything is made on premise, and it is obvious in the quality of the food that a lot of attention and love goes in to what they serve. We are really looking forward to going back soon to try other items off the menu and will definitely be spreading the word about this new restaurant.

Over rated, big disappointment. After reading those five stars reviews, we went for dinner last week with high expectation. and found nothing deserve five stars. I give one star for the warm pita bread and another for the house salad. Grilled octopus was soft but spongy soft with no favor. Have had this dish from Greek restaurant from Northvale to Teaneck. Angelo’s is the worst and not cheep $ 14. Pork gyro was ordinary, took the leftover for sandwich next day. Lamb Shish Kebob was very chewy. Oh, we were told that we can not order house specials when using the certificate. Those reviewers said the staffs were very friendly and the owner came out to greet them. We met none of that. In fact, the next table customers received all those. Well, I don’t know if we should give them another chance.

An authentic Greek restaurant which has been opened for less than a month. Restaurant is clean and beautiful with warm orange and blues. Open kitchen/grill for those concerned about smelling like food. We started with the grilled octopus and it was plump, juicy and tasty. Very well done! Chicken souvlaki could use a bit more salt but gyro meat was packed with flavor. Can’t wait for them to start their specials menu with hopes for grilled whole fish options. Private parking lot and byob for your convenience.

I was skeptical when I saw it has 5 stars with only 5 reviews and figured it was family/friends writing the reviews but I was wrong. This place is GREAT!!! My husband and I decided to try it out to break our normal routine and since the other Greek restaurants in the area are more expensive. The food is authentic and flavorful. The Greek salad was super fresh; the feta was amazing. We ordered the grill octopus which just melted in our mouths. My husband ordered the lamb chops and I had the grilled chicken platter. Big portions, friendly staff, and great food. This is going onto our list of go-to restaurants

Great overall experience for this new restaurant. Came here with my parents(of whom my father doesn’t like to stray away from his beloved Italian food) and were immediately greeted with fresh warm pita and a small portion of their cold eggplant dip(which needed a pinch of salt, but good). I ordered the pork gyro platter which was marinated perfectly, accompanied by grilled veggies drizzled with balsamic vinegar, Greek French fries(drizzled with lemon juice and oregano) and REAL tzatziki sauce made with Greek yogurt not sour cream like most of these other Greek restaurant/diners do. It was absolutely delicious. My entrée came with side Greek salad or chicken avgolemono(chicken lemon) soup. I went with the salad which was delicious and colorful, with yummy creamy feta and the perfect amount of house made dressing. My parents ordered the Moussaka and lamb shish kebab platter. Of course I had I try theirs… My mom got the chicken lemon soup with her entrée. It was so good I didn’t want to give it back to her! The moussaka was fantastic. The béchamel was perfect and had an overall good mixture of flavors. The lamb shish was cooked perfectly, little pink in the middle. Seasoned perfectly. The side of rice was fluffy and tasty(like a rice pilaf). Our waitress asked if we wanted dessert which was near impossible after the amount of food we just received, but I asked her if she had the traditional Greek dessert of custard filled filo dough(I forget the name but I was asking for future reference when I come back) she told me she did have it and when I took my leftovers home, inside the bag was a piece of the dessert on the house! No other restaurant does that for you ever. The portions were so huge and the prices were beyond fair. This place just opened a week ago so they obviously have some kinks to work out but that will come with time. Their food and customer service knocked it out of the park. Will be returning again soon! So happy a place like this opened in my town.

Happen to stumble upon angelo’s greek taverna. Had 3 appetizers which were excellent. Fried eggplant with tomato sauce was cooked perfect without heavy breading or any bitterness that eggplant can sometimes have. The warm feta and rosted pepper and tomato was very fresh and flavorful. The third app was fried mini meatballs also cooked perfect an didnt have a fried taste. Owner and staff were extremely friendly. I never eat rice pudding but theirs was delicious.
