History

Established in 2005.

Brothers Dr. Ted and Dr. John, both graduates of UAB School of Dentistry, began McCalla Dental in 2005. Their vision was to create a dental practice that would benefit the community and the patients.

The brothers were joined in the practice in 2007 by Dr. Holt Gray, a good friend and a specialist in dental restoration procedures (prosthodontist), and a Resident Professor at UAB School of Dentistry. The practice grew again in 2009 with the addition of Dr. Wendy, also a UAB Dental School graduate, and Dr. John’s wife.

To better accommodate the growing practice and their vision, these dentists secured a convenient, beautiful location and designed and built a brand new building, very close to the original location of their offices. The new building opened in 2010.

Inside our building is a comfortable, relaxing space, and high-​tech equipment intended to make sure that we can give you a beautiful, natural and healthy smile with every dental treatment.

Meet the Business Owner

John P.

Business Owner

Dr. John grew up with his brother, Ted, in the Birmingham area. He graduated summa cum laude from Birmingham-​Southern College with a degree in computer science before receiving a D.M. D. with honors from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, where he also met and married fellow graduate, Dr. Wendy. He received a Certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry in 2005.

In 2005, Dr. John moved to the McCalla area, and started McCalla Dental with his brother, Ted. Their vision was to create a dental practice that would benefit the community and the patients.

Dr. John is a member of the Birmingham District Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the Alabama Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
