Georgetown Optician

They fixed my recently purchased glasses and made them look like new again. Everyone is nice and fairly customer focused. I will be purchasing more and the lenses are cheaper than Sterling with my insurance. The frames are pricey but that’s to be expected.

Came in to get new frame. Spent 10 minutes at the store and left.
The guy was helping another couple with a bent frame or whatever and as they left, he shook their hands and charged him nothing. Great service for that but he completely ignored us and just followed us around the store as if we were going to steal. Did not greet us nor speak a word but stared and followed.
You spent 20 minutes fixing a pair of glasses that weren’t even purchased from the store with no charge and did not spend one second taking care of customers that would’ve easily dropped a lot of money on two pairs of glasses. Does not surprise me why the business isn’t doing well.
I would never support a business with such poor customer service.

This was my first visit to Georgetown Optician at Tyson Galleria; I went to the store to check out the Dita fashion sunglass. I was very happy with the large selection they had in stock.
Noushin sales specialist, was there to greet me promptly and provided me with a great customer experience. She was very knowledgeable of the history and the quality of the Dita brand.
Noushin also took her time and showed me other options within the store. This was a nice touch to see other high end products and helped me with my final purchase decision.
Dita sunglass are not your «around the corner sunglass brand». However, I was thrilled with my selection Dita «Haydon» sunglasses. Noushin provided great customer experience and sure will recommend to others.
I hope to be back SOON for my next Dita shades 8-)

This place is my new go to for glasses. I bought a pair of glasses at neimans and they didn’t fix it, but the ladies at georgetown fixed it of no charge. Amazing service and just the nicest ladies. Please keep them in mind for any kind of glasses. They have an amazing variety of brands and styles. Thanks ladies.

We went here twice in one day and received inconsistent service. The first visit was to browse, and we had a very helpful salesperson who made informed recommendations of frame material, size, color, and shape based on our specific circumstances. We wanted to talk it over due to the high price, so we left the store and came back later ready to buy. Our second visit was a totally disappointing experience. We had a different salesperson who was pretty much useless at helping us choose lenses. We had a bunch of questions that weren’t answered, such as whether the 1.74 index lenses came with a standard manufacturer-​applied AR coating (the answer should be yes), and if so, then why is there an extra charge for AR separate from the lens itself. Additionally, she couldn’t explain the difference between any of the four AR options given to us, which varied widely in price. She also told us there was no difference in the warranties, which is not what I was told the last time I purchased AR lenses (at the Georgetown location). We weren’t going to spend $ 500 on lenses (plus $ 550 on frames, sheesh!) without knowing why, so we left the store empty handed.

Don’t try to go to this doctor he just wants money, he doesn’t give you your time he just wants to take more patients in short time,

This optical store by far is the coolest, trendiest, and the very best of Northern VA/​DC. I have been to so many different optical stores out there, and Gtown Opticians is the best of the best! They have some of the most unique, elegant, super-​chic, and trendy glasses in the world. They carry the highest quality all at an affordable price. In addition to high quality, the customer service I have experienced every time has been exceptional and exquisite. Karmen and Mariam are some of the friendliest, courteous, and most competent staff I have ever encountered. They have a true mastery of their trade and make me feel like a family member every time I enter.

This smallish store is _​packed_​with frames of different types and styles. Many are unique for what I’ve usually seen at eyeglasses shops, and the collection includes a large selection of vintage/​retro-​style frames. You pay for the style and uniqueness as the frames are _​very_​pricey though. (However, if you have a specific style in mind and can find it here when everywhere else has failed you… well, what’s a few months of instant ramen noodles for dinner?) The staff is friendly, helpful, and patient.

This place has an amazing array of glasses and sunglasses! I walked in and was immediately greeted by Mariam one of the associates working. She was very friendly and helped me find a pair of glasses for my prescription. She was very knowledgable and stayed by my side throughout the whole transaction. If you want to get a pair of artsy looking or European made glasses, this is the place to go! I am in love with my new glasses and can’t wait for them to arrive. Tip for all customers getting their lenses… make sure you get anti reflective coating on the lenses! It really makes a difference for night driving! I’ll sure be back next year for my new lenses if my prescription changes! All in all, very satisfied with the selection and customer service!

Your existence at this store is not acknowledged, The individual at the counter was pre-​occupied with booking a flight on the web. I certainly would have expected a half measure level of assistance & effort, as compared to the store in Georgetown.
I had a particular frame in mind, but it was not given to me to try it on!

I love that they only carry glasses that are only originally made by the glasses’ company. Not made somewhere else and just imprinted a designer’s name on it.
The customer service was great (At least when I was there). Namir was very helpful and attentive unlike other places where I’ve been ignored because of the way I dressed or looked.
I went by myself but didn’t have any difficult time selecting a frame because Namir was honest and advised me towards frames that were flattering for my face.
I purchased a pair of chrome hearts eyeglasses which are very exclusive in parts of the world. So to find them here, made me very happy.
TIP: if you try to buy the frame only & take it to your insurance for the lens, there is a possibility that your insurance won’t take your glasses in to make the lens. This is because the frames are very exclusive that they do not want to be responsible for damage since parts to fix the eyeglasses are not easy to access for these particular frames.
I had my lens done here at Georgetown Optician and they were very quick with it. It was ready in the next day or 2 even if they say it’ll take 5 – 7 days.

My husband and I walked in without an appointment specifically to look at the Anne et Valentin frames. Rouby was so nice, helpful, and patient. Not once did she try to push a sale on me or make me feel rushed or «required» to make a purchase from her. The selection was fantastic! Because of the cost of the frames, I didn’t want to feel rushed to make a selection and wanted to come back. She kindly wrote down my favorites and mentioned additional colleagues who would be happy to help me when I returned. I am excited to return!

Not impressed with this place in the least.
They seemed annoyed that I arrived early for my eye exam… which should be a good thing, right? In the end my experience here only lasted ~10-​minutes as they don’t accept any insurance… and I can’t remember the last time I paid full-​price for glasses or an exam.
Not the friendliest bunch either. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere, which they didn’t really seem to care about losing. Strange business model to me, but hey… they can afford rent in Tysons II so they must be doing something right.

At least two times a week, we are in tysons II I love tysons II better b/​c it’s a ‘smaller’ mall where I generally feel like we get amazing service in any store we walk into. Have gotten to know some of the employees in the mall, and from what they tell me, Tysons II is a different kind of mall in that the rent is really high, and most customers are repeat customers who need to be ‘cultivated’ — ie babied and pampered, with follow up telephone calls, emails on private sales, etc.
Whenever we are on the upper level, I walk by Georgetown Optician and I USED to think, ‘geeze, they have some amazing frames, whenever I need a new set I’ll go in.’
Having been born in Mclean, I have gone to Dr. Davidson in tysons I as my optician since the mid 1980’s, and b/​c of convenience, ended up at Sterling Optical, which has always had a great, friendly staff, but never really had an amazing collection of frames. This time, Dr. Davidson mentioned something about insurance, and all of the sudden I found out that my insurance is pretty good and gives me a HUGE discount on frames, and even covers the eye exam. His advice was this — -when you go to an eyeglasses store, the markup is high — -so it doesn’t hurt to ask for a discount. Maybe you’ll get it, maybe you won’t — but the stores can easily afford a 15%, discount, and I shouldn’t be surprised to get a 30% discount on the frames. The internet is changing eyeglasses with
, and with the show on 60 minutes more people are questioning the value of really really expensive frames. So after my eye exam, I went to sterling optical, who happily told me they would give me a discount, and would give me the paperwork to provide my insurance provider so that I could get insurance to cover part of the frames. The only thing was, none of the frames at sterling optical were really that amazing — -so I was honest with them and told them I would just stop over at Georgetown optician and see what kind of frames they had, and go from there. The Sterling Optical people were downright nice, and said no problem, come back if you have any issues.
Now the present story — — -So one day, right after thanksgiving, I was in tysons ii with the wife and kids (we live about ½ mile away so we usually go weeknights) — it was not at all busy — -and I told my wife after dinner that I wanted to check out some frames at Georgetown Optician. We walked in, the girl immediately found a frame that looked good on me, and then when I asked her the cost (it would have been just about 900.00, I asked her for a discount, and she said that Georgetown Optician doesn’t do discounts — after a bit (a bit, seriously, I’m not a haggler — -I just asked her some questions) of back and forth, she said, maybe they’d give me $ 50.00 off, and that was it. Fair enough. My wife and kids were there, but other than the two women in the store, not a single other customer — -but I just got this vibe that they wanted me out of the store b/​c I had the thought, or the gaul to even ask for a discount. But she picked out a nice pair of frames for me, they seemed a bit tight around the temples — -so my wife told me to go home and think about it, and if I liked them, come back and get them. I got a weird vibe from the girl that was selling, but didn’t think much of it.
I went to the store again on Saturday, this time ready to purchase. However, I was unsure about the fit of the frames, b/​c they still pushed on my zygomatic arch (from the eye to the ear) a bit, and I tend to get headaches when this happens so I asked the girl to adjust the frames to relieve the pressure before I bought them. Normally, I’d just buy the frames, but after reading the other reviews on Unilocal about the store and it’s gtown branch, I just thought to ask what the return policy was and one has 1 week to return the frames, but the lenses are ‘you bought them and they are yours’. So I kept asking the girl that was helping me to adjust the frame off of the zygoma — -but it kept being uncomfortable. I asked her to go back and adjust them about 5 times — which even I admit, is a bit excessive — –but with a store that has a terrible return policy, takes no insurance, and doesn’t really do much in the way of discounting — -I figured I was paying for the service because it’s really only whiny and annoying people like me that will actually pay full price for a pair of eyeglasses — -and at some point she just stopped and said —-‘these frames don’t fit you — I can’t adjust them because this a sample and if I adjust it more then I’ll ruin the frame’. case closed. It’s like I annoyed her so much that she didn’t WANT to sell me the frames. Fine.
I then drove to the old staple Sterling Optical. Picked out a nice pair of silouette frames (not amazing, but nice enough), that the saleslady made fit perfectly, and happily gave me a large discount on, just by asking. Did I mention she was helpful?! Lesson learned. No more Gtown Opticians.

Lots of great frames if you are looking for something a bit more artsy or bold. Pretty expensive, but I think glasses are probably something worth spending extra on. The two stars comes from the customer service. Long story short: about as bad as you can get in terms of customer service. Read the rest if you want details.
I bought a pair of glasses there and started to notice some splotches on them about a year in. Kind of like clouding on certain parts of the plastic. After a while they got pretty noticeable. At that point I took them in to see if I could get them replaced. They said that they were no longer under warranty and they couldn’t do anything about it.
I complained and suggested that I had paid something like $ 700 for them and 1) expected them to be of higher quality and 2) expected better service. The girl working with me looked up the account and stated that in fact I had only paid $ 400 for them because they were on sale. That’s okay, except she said it with the same kind of attitude you would expect from the maitre’d in Ferris Buhler’s Day Off who doesn’t believe Ferris is Ab Froman (the «sausage king» of Chicago). Very rude. Inappropriate coming from anyone, but seriously, this woman works (does not own or anything) at a glasses store. Unless she really likes glasses and is working there for the fun of it, I highly doubt she has an income where she should be acting like I am being cheap. It also kind of implied that because I only paid $ 400 I should not be entitled to any service.
Anyways, I was upset after that, but the manager said sense the lenses were still good, I could get the frames for half price plus shipping. Seemed like a pretty reasonable compromise.
Next, I waited for a long time for these glasses to come from France and eventually called (like 3 or 4 weeks later) to see if they had arrived. Yes they had, somehow they forgot to call and tell me though. Frames were a bright lime green so we played this game again. Waited three weeks called again. They had forgotten to call again or were just about to. Once again the frames were not the same as I originally had (had gone out of production), but were close enough.
Probably won’t go back out of principle.
