A Certified Arborist is a specialist in the care of individual trees. Certified Arborists have achieved a level of knowledge in the art and science of tree care through experience and by passing an extensive, rigorous examination developed by some of the nation’s leading experts on tree care who are members of the International Society of Arborists. Certified Arborists must also continue their education to maintain their certification. Therefore, they are much more likely to be up-​to-​date on the latest techniques on aboriculture.

Our Founder, Jack J. Goehring III, was the arborist for the White House, National Trust for the Historic Preservation, and the National Security Agency.

Arborist work is inherently hazardous and things do go wrong. It is essential that you hire a certified arborist because that certifies that they have both general liability insurance and workers compensation. If no insurance coverage is available to protect the job, and something bad happens, the customer bears the financial responsibility!

Jack J. Goehring, III

Jack has 35 years experience as a licensed tree expert and Certified Arborist, with a BA degree and a graduate degree. Jack was the arborist for the White House, National Trust for the Historic Preservation, and the National Security Agency. Jack is a 30-​year resident of McLean and has operated from the same location throughout his career. Jack is also a licensed tree expert, a certification granted by the State of Maryland, whose requirements are the strictest in the nation.
