Sugar Grove Nature Center is a wonderful little gem in central Illinois. This is an area dedicated to teaching children and their families about the natural wildlife and vegetation native to the region. There are several miles of well kept trails, a learning center, and a children’s play area. The play area is especially unique in that it encourages kids to get dirty, dig, and play in the creek. Also, there are events held all year round, many are free and most are very cheap when they are not. We visit regularly and love it.

What they have done with this land is amazing. Well marked trails, creek crossings, restored environments, and education opportunities that simply didn’t exist 20 years ago here. A gem to visit during a visit to Funk’s Grove.

This is an awesome place to experience nature with the entire family! My son’s favorite thing was the kid’s zip line. He also loved climbing the big tree, playing in the sand, and jumping over the pond rocks and tree stumps! We didn’t get to the hiking trails but plan to next time!

I had a lovely time out here with my mother and grandmother. We had a wonderful time looking at the animals in the tanks in the center, watching the birds in the bird observation area, and walking around the grounds. It was wonderful to look at the different types of animal things from different animals. It was a wonderful time and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a short nature trip.

Interesting and informative about animals in the local area. Bird sanctuary is cool for kids. Sugar grove is large and unique. All in all, cool experience.
