Vinson Hall Retirement Community is a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community supported by Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation. Located on 20 pastoral acres in Northern Virginia, we’re just minutes from countless Washington, D.C.-area attractions. Our active, vibrant community features independent living, assisted living, nursing, and memory care which allows our residents and their family members to enjoy peace of mind knowing that our continuum of care can accommodate changing needs.

Vinson Hall provides apartments for independent seniors who are commissioned military officers, and their immediate family, as well as government workers of an equal rank from select agencies. Arleigh Burke Pavillion provides assisted living and healthcare, and The Sylvestery offers memory support assisted living– residences for which military affiliation is not required.

In a maintenance-free environment, our residents enjoy life at their own pace and schedule. Residents can build their day around an array of activities including gardening, engaging trips, educational opportunities, art, music, entertainment, and a variety of dining experiences. We promote physical and spiritual well-being by offering fitness programs, health services, and pastoral support. Through partnerships and continual research, we bring in breakthrough technologies and tools that help our residents get the most out of life.

History

Established in 1969.

When Navy Marine Coast Guard Residence Foundation was established as a not for profit in 1961 by the Naval Officers’ Wives’ Club of Washington, its original mission was to provide affordable housing for military officers’ widows who were not left sufficient funds to live in dignity when their husbands passed away. Eight years later, in 1969, Vinson Hall opened its doors, and over the ensuing years the housing operation has grown into a well-respected Continuing Care Retirement Community that is home to more than 300 residents in McLean, Virginia.
