History
Established in 1964.
In 1964, members of the First United Church in Mission founded our agency to improve access to women’s health care and improve quality of life for people in Hidalgo County. The first year the clinic opened, it had 64 patients.
Today Access Esperanza Clinics serves over 10,000 each year and has four full-time clinics located in McAllen, Edinburg, Mission, and Weslaco, and a part-time clinic in Jan Juan. Women and men seek our services to plan their families, be able to complete their education, and stay healthy. We are providers with the Texas Women’s Health Program and the Expanded Primary Health Care program, with subsidize free to low-cost care for women in need of health services.
Formerly Planned Parenthood Association of Hidalgo County, we changed our name in September 2014. Our name– Access Esperanza Clinics– represents the opportunities and hope for brighter futures our services provide for our patients.
